Sure you can monopolise, awhile back on starsider , there was a PA (company) that focused on planting harvesters on all HIGH end resources (flooding the spawns until there was no room to place a harvester). Eventually they broke up (CU) but they basically carried 90% of all high end resource sales, but they kept decent pricing so no-one really cared.

It's virtually impossible to hog all the spots for spawns. Don't say such ridiculous things. If you have to look further away for a spot to put harvesters, it's not the end of the world.

You;de be surprised.

No, I wouldn't be. What I have seen are people who claim that they're being spawn exploited just because one particular good concentrated spot didn't have enough room for their harvesters. If you're late to a particular spot, tough luck. Have you tracked over the face of an entire planet to find a spot? I have. So what if you can't find a 90+% spot? A lot of this game is about opportunity and what you're willing to settle for. If you don't want to spend two days searching a whole planet for a 90+% spot that you can cover with 40 harvesters, settle for an 80, or a 70, or a 60, or a 50.

I'm not complaining about what they did, and yes, there was the tailend of the spawn for everyone else, but it was hard luck, as an individual, finding a spawn above 20% because of the monopoly.

Because of their large numbers, they always had a large amount of people to jump on new spawns.

I've seen some pretty large operations, so it would take a lot to surprise me. Like this couple in town shared 22 accounts and that was a "small" operation.

Speaking as a person on StarStrider for at least the last year (and a year on Gorath previously), I have never had any problem getting my harvesters on 55% Ore spots ....or 90+% of anything else. It's not possible to constrict everyone else off of all of these locations. Then again, my friends say I'm practically force sensitive by default when it comes to surveying.

Surveying is about 2 things:

  1. Patience

  2. Knowing what you'll settle for.

Some days, it just takes longer than others.
