There are a lot of services listed in this thread that I would love to make use of, and some others that I might like to try.

That "mail-marketing" bit actually sounds cool....I'd love to get occasional mails about player events or new shops or whatnot. After all, anyone willing to drop 5 mill for an advertisement has to have something cool going on.

Are any of these things on Chilastra?

When you say "unique names" do you mean names that you've collected on your server?

First the Nazis came for the Communists, I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist. Then they came for the Jews, I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew. After that they came for the Trade Unionists, I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Catholics, I didn't speak up because I was a Protestant. And then they came for me, but there was no one left to speak.

I ran a Brothel out of a large tatooine house in the city of Mos Vegas. This was on the shadowfire server, and i ended up being the founder / mayor of the city for about 8 months. Had at its peak i think 15 dancers regularly, it worked by selling champagne bottles on a vendor for 25k each, and the girls wouldnt go upstairs or do private dances without recieving at least one. Then at the end of the night id buy them back from them at 20 k each. Keeping the 5k per to pay off bouncers and bartenders. Our best nights we would attract over 100 people. Was alot of fun, the girls all wore body suits that matched thier skin tone upstairs, and we had a master ID / tailor to make sure they perfectly matched and made them appread totally naked from 5 m away. Some of the girls werent to hip in the whole cybering thing, so it was always at the girls discretion as to which room they went in.

Upstairs free for all 4 champagne bottles.

champagne room, just a private dance and perhaps sneak in a fondle here and there. 2 champagne bottles.

Table dance for you and your guests 1 champagne bottle.

We had guest DJ's that would announce the girls, and I would usually run a blackjack game in my casino next door for high rollers.

The club was called the Cheetah club and it was very very detailed in its decoration. Almost too detailed.

We used a 10 sided dice as cards, 10s are face cards, 1s are aces, and push goes to the dealer, because with so little face cards getting past 17 is easy. other than that it was vegas rules baby.

Viva Mos Vegas, Shadowfire.

Any interest in doing that again? I'd make you a rich and well connected player on Intrepid if you came and ran something like that for me. I would love to own a brothel in SWG.

Seriously...

I thought about and then shelved an idea for being a Professional Intermediary.

The basic idea was to "certify" certain individuals whose trustworthyness and honor were above reproach (through background investigation, but I hadn't been able to figure out a failsafe way to do this). These people would be available as a middleman for the trade of high-ticket items for people without vendors.

Say gun-bunny A auctions his Uber-CA +25 butt-kickin' to gun-bunny B for 40million credits. The PI would receive both items then trade them to the proper party...

The only problem is gauging trustworthyness to certify the PI...never did get around that stumbling block.

I ran into a girl who didn't care too much for the professions so she turned to the oldest one. She said she's made several hundred thousand credits as an escort. I of course had to tip her 100 for a better look and made her an outfit.

I got this new business I am starting up on Sunrunner...

I take in people's money and within 24 to 48 hours I turn out a profit to them of 50%, I basically give them 250k if they give me 500k. Its like a short term loan with high interest, but if you think about it, its nice since you get that extra cash for the day to buy armor, or whatever run missions get the money back, pay them back and its fine, and you can get a lot of people interested, I had someone offer me 2 million and return them 3, but I didn't take it, cause you know how hard it is to get 1 million from missions in 24 to 48 hours? I actually am paying someone off for some grinding, but I won't go into detail on that but my business is running well, and some people even just donate to me, in a few days I have gotten 777k+ in donations, and funny thing, is you don't pay the people back until THEY ask for it, its part of the conditions and you sometimes get an extra bit of time, like 72 hours sometimes for time to get that money, so you could have 2 million sitting in your pocket for a lil while, pay the guy back and then get the next loan going. And most people give ya like 50k or so, and 75k is not the hardest to get with 2 days.

Its just an idea, and its working well, its funding my mineral mining / architect grind currently, and I am starting up a new company called Karauff Mineral, which will offer high end steel and ore for 1 CPU and do housing projects for people all for about 1/2 what others want. Its called taking a smaller profit but making more sales, so in the end I make more. Last night I had nearly 1 million credits on me, then today I paid people back I was down to about 50k, and then I just go to Coronet start spamming for like 5 mins and people get interested, and start within the business.

I offer free advertising for anyone who donates / loans me credits. Its nice, since I got a long bio growing, but it makes me some friends, since I will soon have about 250 people on my list for e-mail stuff and it will be almost double soon enough. I don't think anyone has ever done a loan operation, or a small scale mining operation that turns more customers for grinding and misc builds then most other larger companies who charge nearly 2x more, just cause they got a lot of miners. But the guild I am in, its nice now since I got like rebel base and an imp base right near each other (opposite sides of town) and you can just sit there with fencer and spam spin attack and get everyone killed soo fast, and then just collect the loot and the credits its awesome, definetly a nice feature, and you just sit there, and the spawns are every like 30 seconds if ya kill all the gaurds, and usually there are around 50 rebels sitting outside the place on average, and if ya solo it you got some nice credits and last time there some someone who in 1 buff session looted 15 crystals! I looted some weird paintings, and then some other stuff but hey, its easy money

This doesn't make you money though...

I've managed to make some decent money running a directory. It has...

Player cities: Specializations, trainers, and "looking for citizens"
Vendors: Locations, goods available (with some degree of specifics)
Services: Ranger services, bio-engineering schematics, etc.

It's all on the web. What makes it useful is that the information is all on simple tables. Players don't have to deal with that horrid planetary map for finding vendors, and they don't have to search around looking for trainers. You can see it here:

I still haven't managed to break 1 million, but it sure beats killin' stuff all day.
