chessdemon yes it is my own fault for selling it BUT

They could have had something in the Total Expirience box telling how good the exclusive BARC speeder is, kind of like how in the City of Heroes Collectors Edition it comes with somehting saying what the exclusive in game things were.

The devs wont do anything because they have no control over the community and it is the players choice to trade what they want which I understand

Wasn't flaming ya Hope I didn't come across that way. I do tend to agree about having more information from the developers...that's been a little bit lacking of late (yes, I do understate things sometimes). Though...play devil's advocate, seems appropriate for a 'chessdemon'...would the devs know for sure that the BARC would be THIS much of a high-dollah sales item? Perhaps they could put something on the gamebox to the effect of 'Fastest speeder in the game! Own yours today!' but saying 'This'll be the hot-ticket item people will be mortgaging their families for! Hold onto it unless somebody offers millions and millions!' I'm not sure they could've done.

All that said, I still tend to think BARC Fever will die down soon, if nothing else when the newness wears off, the ones with tons of cash have theirs, the TE package gets moved to the bargain bin in stores (that'll happen, I'm sure) so somebody can shell out ten or fifteen bucks, maybe less, to get one for their character... 'Sides, when you see dozens of the things every day in Cnet, then see somebody in a lone AV-21, which one is going to catch your eye the most? The 'newbie scooter' or the cool-looking enclosed two-seater?

No business ethics?

What is you bought your BARC before the "market" had been established on your server?

Besides, which is better?

Buying a BARC from a new player, having some interaction with them and thinking you offered them a fair deal...

...or subsidizing the scumbags who buy up BARCS for next to noghting (and I mean nothing) and then sell them to veterans for a 300% mark up?

As for the varactyl, it's value will come in time. As people opt out of the digital download and the new plaers are laregely here because of the TE box, the proportion of Varactyls in the game will diminish.

Detective Comics #1 wasn't worth much when it was printed, it took time for it to gain value.

Wayell...comic book geek time... Detective Comics #1 still isn't worth all that much (more than the original ten cent price naturally, but not huge amounts of moolah), Detective Comics #27 where Batman first appeared, however...

That's neither here nor there. I agree. I've heard of offers of up to 10 million for the lizardbirdie on Sunrunner, more for the quest one (whatever level that one is, I forget, the creature handler version), which are slowly going by the wayside since so many people already have the former, the latter I suspect will be big awhile longer (rightfully so, I think, that one takes work to get). BARC's too I think will diminish in value, probably be around a couple million very soon or I wouldn't be surprised. For now...any new player who wants to sell their 'newbie scooter' and can get a bundle for it, GO for it, I say. Why the heck not? Free enterprise in action.

i think the 5 million price is out of line... not the one million price. You guys telling them to sell their speeder for 5 million are making the problem worse by keeping the price ridiculous... come on, its a speeder......

..that can't be crafted AT ALL, they should be very expensive, more so than the AV-21 -at least you can craft those.

On Bria, I have personally seen these sold for as low as 500k. I think 1 mill is about the average price offered to newbs. Veterans wont usually let them go for less than 3 mill.

I can't say you made as much cash as you could have, but also would not characterize it as a rip-off. The BARC is not better than a swoop and to be quite honest, a newb could not afford to repair it too often at current prices. I really hope you enjoy the game. I am glad the total experience brought some fresh faces to our hobby (I didn't think it would). Be sure to check the trade forums for average values of items before you make future trades. Better yet, find a guild with good peeps and they will give you a good idea on values of items and such.

Good luck!

I'm on Bria and I've seen lower. While I bought mine for low. 32k. Funny thing was is that there was a guy shouting to buy one for 1 mil. So i din't feel bad ripping of the newbe. How stuiped can you be.

I retract my "no business ethics" comment, but I still say "questionable business practices". It's more ambiguous, less inflamatory. I was just feeling bad for the new players who had to meet someone on their first day who offered them 20% of fair market value. Having said that... What on Corellia was I thinking?!!! On my first day I had 1000 credits, a CDEF pistol anda temporary rental for transportation(I don't miss those days). I would have sold the fur on my back for a million credits and been happy. To any new players out there I say sell your BARC for whatever you can get and buy a swoop. It's like winning the lottery. You won't have monetary worries for many months, or never if you don't go around doing stupid things like buying BARCs for a million credits.

No sig, no ribbons... I'm a loser. Wait... that could be my sig!
