Thread: I Love the Vendor Search Bazaar feature...BUT

I haven't tried it yet today, but as of yesterday you could search for the 'vendor listed resource type', but not the name of the specific resource. As an example, there was an excellent dolovite iron on Flurry a while back named ukelebakate (OQ989). When you find it on the vendor or bazaar, it will list like this:

Iron (Ukelebakate) 100000

You can search for Iron and it will show, but if you search for dolovite or ukelebakate it will not be listed.

I also use some polymers. In that case, it is listed as inert petrochemical (same as lubricating oil). If I search on inert, I get a listing of all inert petrochemicals as well as inert gases. If I search on petrochem, I get a listing of all inert petrochemicals as well as known liquid petrochemicals. However, if I put in 'inert petro', it comes up with just the inert petrochemicals. I still need to look at the details to see which are lube and which are polymers, but it does help.

As an aside, when they first added the keyword search (might have been with the galactic vendor search, but I think it predates that by a week or so), you could search on the specific resource name (i.e. ukelebakate) and it would work. I really like that method. I regularly use swgcraft to figure out the top 10 resources for a particular application and would love to be able to search them one by one...

while on Flurry, don't visit Ojes Yobe's Liquidation Vendors just 800M from Theed starport on Naboo (neg5219 3419) - cause they ain't there anymore! They are now exclusively located in Mos Athens Mall

I have not had any luck using the search feature. do you have to put the text in quotes?

Quotation marks should not be used. I played around with it yesterday, and the resource names appear to be fair game again. For example, you can search for ukelebakate on Flurry and find just that specific dolovite iron. Keep in mind though, that the resource owner still has to pull their stock and relist from inventory for you to be able to search by the name. Unless they do that, you cannot see anything otehr than 'Iron' on the listing.

Try pulling up a general list on the vendor search and then using various search strings to limit the query to 1 or more of the items already listed. That way, you already know if there should be a valid result or not before you hit refresh. Also make sure the filter(s) are set appropriately for your query. If the top filter is set to 'region' instead of 'planet' or 'galaxy', you will never find anything. I also try to use 'All' or 'Resource Container' as the category filter when looking for resources.

And I don't know about you guys, but I type "Copper", "Alu" (because youse Americans can't spell Aluminium ) into the Filter Crafted Items list and that's what comes up. Granted it probably wouldn't show up specific resources (see the dolovite example), but then again I haven't tried it so if someone could let me know that'd be great.

TOTALLY off topic, but we Americans DO know how to spell Aluminium - We even spelled it that way for years - Did you know it was a Brit who coined the name Aluminum in the first place? He was persuaded to use the -ium ending to match several other of his newly found elements. Americans used -ium through the 19th century till an American inventor developed a new production process for making Aluminium.. HE decided to use the -um ending in his handbills touting the process.. And the name stuck over here....

Of course, in 1993, the Scientific community allowed that both -um and -ium were interchangable, although the board ITSELF prefers -ium...

Oh brother, I need a life...

I wish that the Item name search wasn't restricted to just crafted items.

Well, its not... I can't really figure out why they say "Search Crafted Items" but I know putting in "Iron" or "Steel" works... However "Dolovite" doesn't work. When I was trying "Ryll Amorphous Gemstone" neither Ryll or Amorphous worked but Gemstone worked for the two different types of Gemstone.
