I was running the Jabba Themepark yesterday, (Really nice btw, but that palace needs some signs and arrows to help you find your way) and I noticed someone passed me on a speeder bike (ROTJ style) and I thought it was really cool to see one of those considering most people don't
drive anything but the swoop bike.
I don't see any reason to give speeders different top speeds because it makes the swoop BY FAR the most desireable to use. Top speed is the only thing people care about. These are travel vehicles and no one wants to add 5 min to a long trip by using a slower type of speeder just because it looks different.
Please make top speed the same on all speeders. Acceleration, turning, etc can be different but honestly what is the point? These aren't combat vehicles, they are transporters, so make them all equal so people can use all of them and not get punished for not using swoops.
Keep the starter ship 10% slower so that new players will want to upgrade to player made vehicle though.
What do ppl think?
Sometimes it's not about speed. Obviously you weren't around when we had to walk everywhere. Be happy with what you have.

The referance is already in the films, (EpIV Luke bitching about the price he got for selling his speeder) and we would see variation and 'god forbid' roleplaying! Guy trash talks someone else - gets challenged to a speeder race, guy pulls out AV21 (with very little modifications) challenger pulls out a X34 (with HUGE engine mods, furry dice, go faster stripes, anchour for tight cornering, storage compartment for his 6pack of beer, etc. etc. etc.)

I use a speederbike far more often than a swoop. Yes, I make runs to the Village on a speederbike. No, I don't die ever on the way. Not even when I agro a couple ancient reptilian flyers (which, for the uninitiated, fly as fast as/faster than a swoop's top speed). And I have no combat skills whatsoever (not counting my FS bonuses to speed and accuracy).
Really, on Dathomir where the terrain is evilnasty, the increased terrain negotiation is worth the tradeoff in speed that comes with a speederbike.
However, this does not prevent me from voicing my opinion that we need a vehicle revamp on par with the ships in JtL.

actually the speed should be rated on resource quality, efficiency ....
the higher the percentage the faster the vehicle
landspeeders better cornering with a lower max speed
speeder middle ground lol
swoops all speed less manueverability
the crafter building it and what he uses to make it should determine how close it gets to max speed and manuverability
having everthing the same is boring lol and why bother racing lol

Once the CURB gets here i think we'll be seeing a lot more usage of the Speeder Bike by Imperials. I know I, for one, will be getting a set of scout armor, and probably a speeder bike to complete the look.

I use a speederbike mostly and always recommended the same to customers... Better terrain negotiation, slower decay, not much slower speed than a swoop... Lately I've been using the AV-21 my wife bought me, and enjoying it... but without it the speederbike is the one I use pretty much exclusively.
I would like to see more variation in the speeders though like the JTL ships, even if we don't get new types of speeders...
