You know, there other things to being a master doc other than buffing. It's descerning to see somone forsake a profession so easily like that.

Along those lines, what I find funny is people have no problem paying for a temporary stat increase than they do paying for a permanent weapons stat increase. I refuse to drop my slicing prices, but it always makes me chuckle when someone will pay 10k for a buff, a temporary increase, but not for a slice, a permanent increase.

"Jedi claims of being "broken" are like saying "But my TV isn't widescreen! It's broken! My TV can't show high-def pictures in 1080i, it can only do 720i! It's broken!" Meanwhile, crafters are saying "We'd really like to have a TV that's larger than 12" and gets more than 4 channels and doesn't constantly lose vertical control", and entertainers are saying "Can we get some color instead of this B&W piece of junk?" And smugglers? We're listening to radio programs of "The Shadow" and "The Abbot and Costello Comedy Hour" and hearing FDR's Fireside Chats. We don't even HAVE a damn TV, much less a broken one or a "broken" one by Jedi standards. I'd LOVE to be as "broken" as they are." - The Legendary Solo4114

I've never seen anyone complain while I was waiting in line for a doc buff, AND I've never seen anyone complain even while *I* was a master doc. Though I do totally understand the part about being harassed, but there is a simple fix, and it's to change your title, or don't make your character searchable. When I was master doctor I usually only charged about 11-13k for my buffs, and I'd barely break even, that's because I'd do alot of free buffing for my guild and such. On Gorath now-a-days all I ever see is buffs for 15-18K, rarely below that, and yes, I do think they are being greedy. Some docs may claim that the reason they charge more for buffs is because they have to sit there and do it, using their time. To that I ask, do you go into work every day, and ask your boss for more money, because you have to do your job? No. You do your job, and take what you are given.

...Posting rants on these forums is like a rocking chair; it gives you something to do, but it doesn't get ya anywhere... write that down.

I can tell you why docs buff for that price.....actually two reasons.....difficulty in getting good buff sets lately and the lack of resources. That, and the ability to make much more running missions instead of buffs sent most of the doctors I know into "only buff for guild" mode. All of the doctors I know from the old days all stopped giving public buffs. Only the fast food buffers buff now. There just isnt enough incentive to public buff anymore. Too many people complain about the prices, no matter what you set them at.

Our Doctor sold buffs at 10k that were over 2500 for 3 hours, and he got one too many complaints about his price. I guess people expected to pay 5 to 8k. He gave up.

On Bria the usual price is around 15k. I never saw one higher than that. But there are also buffs with 10k and a little over it. But hey.. I ask friendly if I can bargain with the doc. In 98% they agree and we can set a good price which both of us are happy with.
But I never do the bargaining in public. I always use privat tells for that. And I never tell other people which doc made a special or lower price for me.

I mean, hey.. bargaining is very funny and it raises the interaction between player. Bargaining makes even more fun, than just sell or buy stuff for a mentioned price. Its just like in real life.

cheers

Ok, let's put this another way. Rather than pointing at the Docs and saying they're greedy, view it as market demand. Why charge 10k for something you can get 15k for. If you were a master doc and someone was prepared to pay 15k for a buff, are you saying you wouldn't sell them for 15k?? As for the original poster, I sympathise with your predicament, but if they don't want your superb buff packs, that's their loss. The Galaxy Trade Forum should get you a good price

More attention should be focused on those who loot high-end items and then sell them for many millions in my opinion. It's a simple matter that those that can afford the good stuff, make more money. Classic richplayerget richer by outpricing the poorer players....

Easy Solution:

If you are a master doc, craft your own buffs

If you are not a master doc. Become a master doc and craft your own buffs.

Then you will never have to worry about buff prices again.

My first character was all combat. I got tired of waiting in coro buff lines for up to an hour to get a buff so I created another account and went master doc. I craft all my own buffs now (915 power 12352 duration and 31 charges on average). My only cost outside of power and maintenance on my harvestor farmsis the extra meat i buy to store from some scouts and rangers I know (which at 150 to 250 cpu gets very expensive). I now have 4 accounts on the same server and I never wait for a buff and don't worry about the cost.

See how easy that was.

5 mil for 25 sets of buffpacks means 33k per pack. Its a reasonable price for that high quality of pack. I think you should place vendors with the packs and advertise on trade forums, or just sell them on forums. Last time packs with that stats were available, they went for 10-15% more then that and sold out quickly
I know a few docs that will happily pay your price for those stats, altho they are probably not the ones doing public buffs - as most of public buff docs look only for profit so use cheap packs and keep the price as high as people are willing to pay.

As far as the inflation goes, riddle me this:
Armors have dropped in price by 70-80% over last 1.5 year while getting much better in quality, and hide prices as high as meat ones.
Weapons are same price as long time ago or even lower
Yet doc buffs in starports have risen from 6-9k to 10-15k......

Edit: math

I'm not sure how it went on other server but here's what happened in eclipse. When the solo group nerf was approaching buffs suddently went from 10k to 15k. We saw this as docs trying to get some extra money before the economy droped. Well, surprise surprise. The solo group nerf didn't hit the economy as hard as everyone thought it would. Prices have for all craft goods have stayed the same as they were before the nerf except doc buffs have remained at 15k as opposed to the previous standard of 10k. Pisses me off really.

I think the 30K resource deeds will make a huge impact on buff pack prices. The prices will probably start dropping. The current pricing may be a first sign of it.

Yes that would do it. If more docs made their own buffs, or if thier resources were more common, prices would definitely drop.
