Thread: playing the economy

Yes but expect to get many people upset. There are some crafters that choose to create high quality weapons for low price and want individual buyers not resellers buying all thier stock.
Expect bans, items named in such a way to make it more difficult to resell and other tactics. On the other hand, this is a player driven economy and if you want to do this, more power to you.
I cant believe people would get upset if you buy something from them to sell. Honestly, I choose a price to sell something at and if a person buys something from me I'm happy if they keep it forever or sell it on a vendor next to mine for twice the price, I got my money didn't I? Of course, I do this with rare items and rewards instead of crafted tools so perhaps it is different if you buy something from someone that they have made.
However, if someone bought out my other vendor, (chef) I would be too busy rolling in my money to get upset no matter the price that they resell at.
I had one AS telling me that +15 Krayt Scales didn't drop anymore and therefore, they are extremely valuable. I found a stack of 12 when I was digging through one of my houses and, as he told me they were valuable, went to the bazaar to check it out.
Well, I found a majority of +15er Scales at 50k/Scale and around 10 Stacks of +15er Scales for 10k - bought up the +15er Scales for 10k and made 500% profit.
There are also other nice deals with krayted weapons which are just insane:
You can get damage and sAC capped T21s for anything in between 2 Million and 10 Million credits right now and if you can cut a deal for five of those 2m babies and resell them for twice the price (which is quite easy), you can make hell lots of money.
Another example is armour. Buy armour at a cheap AS which nonetheless produces high quality goods (Yes, they _ARE_ out there!) and resell it to others for twice, up to thrice, the price.
I've done a fair mount of buying and selling for fun or cause I see a good deal. Its not my primary income source but I think theres a lot of money to be made. Skimming the bazaar and vendor search for high demand items being sold for cheap can be fruitful. Sometimes you'll find a large house or a rare power on the bazaar and there is often someone dumping or liquidating some used stuff on a private vendor cause they're leaving the game or just having a garage sale.
I try not to buy people out or be obnoxious about it though, I don't want to annoy people. As stated above buying to resell can annoy some crafters. Myself, I don't care if you buy and resell, cause I already made my profit. If you can make a buck filling a need as a middle man then more power to ya.

I agree with you, but there was a thread a couple of weeks ago where a number of merchants were upset with the resellers for the reasons I mentioned. They wanted to sell weapons at a reasonable price and thus were selling them much lower then everyone else. They wanted to sell to those who could not affort the more expesive weapons. When people would buy their entire stock and then resell them at a higher markup, it was taking them away from the market they wanted to sell to.The would name the weapon (xxxx, original cost 20,000 credits from WS Bob at waypoint xxx, yyy) or some complex naming scheme. That way if they were marked up, the person would know that and they hope that would stop the resellers. It was not a matter that they COULD sell them for more, they wanted to be able to sell them for less.I had my power vendor bought out by one person so I bumped up the price. So I fall on your side of the matter. Just letting you know that there are people out there that will get upset.
The way to combat that would be simply to mass produce your product even more.
