Since the new multiplayer vehicles have been put in game.....

Has anyone tried running a taxi service?

If so, How did it go?

First. Hehe.

Your kidding right? Most of the players I've seen in game haven't the patience to drive 1.5k to another city, they'd rather take the shuttle even though it takes around the same amount of time if your not on a slow machine. Most of the ones I've seen aren't even patient enough to walk or run, they call their vehicle just to go from mos eisley starport to the cantina.

I never even considered running a taxi service due to the lack of patience among so many people.

Edited to say: BTW I think the multiplayer addition to vehicles is fantastic and I've used the multiplayer function of them several times. It's especially nice with the Av-21.

The only taxi service I've ever seen in the game was a guy taking people from Mos Eisley and taking them on his ship to Kashyyyk only to leave them there at the starport. (Evidently it was only a one way flight)

Never seen nor heard of anyone trying a multiplayer speeder taxi service. There really isn't any reason to have one as everyone has a speeder (even the new players with their barcs) And single player speeders go so much faster then the muliplayer ones that hardly anyone uses them just because they go slower.

If it wasnt so ridiculously easy to make vehicles, and if the prices weren't rock-bottom (allowing everyone to have 2 or 3 in their datapad, and if free speeders weren't given out (flash), and if player skill had something to do with how fast or manuverable they were.....

Why bother? This game does not reward people who do NOT want to fight and yet participate in group activities.

I think it would be great to have people doing this. But its literally only an attractive option for a RPG'r. And we all know how many of *those* people there are....

The AV-21 is the only multiperson ship fast enough for the impatient people of SWG. unfortunatly, the AB-1 (Mini-Cooper), the X-(insert number that i forget), and the Soccer-Mom Min-Van, are all much slower than the other ships.

the only time i've actually used the multiperson ability though is when me and a friend are doing a quest on Kashyyyk we'll double-up in a vehicle to travel together instead of 2 separate vehicles.

Still interesting feedback. I had heard rumors of a few people doing this but haven't witnessed it myself either.

Only in the wild, and only during guild events - At no other time is the one TRULY large enough vehicle useful. It's slow, cumbersome, and offers nothing outside of size. Not to mention that the size of a full group is 8 - yet the ship only holds 7?? You always have to leave a man behind. No offense meant to it's designer, but I don't think that was thought through very well...

That's NOT to say that if there were a version of that ship that what you suggest wouldn't be viable - A MP ground vehicle with improved speed, terrain negotiation, armor and GUNPORTS would make a squad based vehicle that would see major use in the GCW arena.

Quote that sums up the current, flawed direction of SWG:
"No, I do everything solo and I see no reason why I should need anyone else"

A way to bring Combatant and Crafter together.

About the only times we use multipassenger vehicles with multiple passengers is when making massive group runs to long off points such as the DWB, and we will double up in AV-21's.

Other than that, we use them to transport low level Padawans around (in case a BH shows), or to give rides to people who had their last swoop blown up.

The multis other than the AV-21 are just too slow to make mass transport in them practical. It'd be nice if they were made to be faster.

We ran a Taxi Service for n00bs and we would offer thme a free ride out to the middle of the lake where we would drop them and we also offered a FREE TOUR of the Krayt Graveyard to all level 20 and under n00bs in Mos Eisley. They died

Well slightly off-topic, but didn't like a newsletter from May or June mention that we'd get an 8-person Skiff(from ROTJ) in-game soon? It's been months since and not even an acknowledgement from a DEV that it ever existed.

the lars speeder has not right to be the Bang Bus, that name is reserved for the SUnderer from Planetside beta. it has two 75mm cannons. this gives me an idea why not let passengers fire out of the MP speeders, and also speed them up. id love a Prohibition style drivebys from rebels on imps from those lars speeders, Carbineers doing the full auto abilities would be as close to a tommy gun as SWG could get. could also allow for some fun player made movies with fast moving shootouts between speeders.

I saw a couple of people here and there saying that they were a taxi service, and would take you somewhere for x creds. Not sure if it worked out for them or not, but some at least gave it a good try.
