Thread: False Advertising

Forgive the random rant, but this has been bugging me recently.

I go looking for a new pistol, find one with capped SAC, high damage damage, incredible speed... it looks great, but it's expensive... look a little closer and realise - wait a minute! It's got a powerup on it! That's very misleading, and has recently led to the deletion of 5 Weaponsmith vendors from my datapad - as far as I'm concerned it's lying about a product. Is there any reason at all that a weapon should be allowed to be put on the vendors with a powerup? I think not - it's false advertising, plain and simple.

I think the reason some of the smiths do it is so you will know what it will look like with the PUP on it since a majority of players use one on their weapons. However I'm sure there area fewtrying to rip people off. The one that gets me is the people recently putting empty backpacks named "high quality armor" and the like on the bazaar hoping to rip someone off 20k credits

and thats why u buy the cheapest swoop u can .... who cares aobut swoop dur % when the damn thing is gonna get blown up anyway and seriously i sell them at 65% or better for 10K to use up my extra resources i dont need and its cheaper to buy 5 and ride them till they blow then it is to buy a 90%+ and keep repairing it

can't really call it false adverising if you can see that it has a powerup on on it. Just my opinion.

It's not false advertising. It's exactly what it says it is: a weapon with a powerup on it. How is that false advertising?

Okay, false advertising may have been too strong a term, saidin the heat of the moment coming off of not being able to find a weapon without a powerup on it. I still think it's misleading to put a powerup on a weapon and put it up for sale though, same as putting up one with 0 condition hoping some unobservant person won't notice, that's all.

Here they are talking about removing sliced weapons from vendors when they need to be removing the powerups on vendor displayed items. In other words, I agree with the OP... do a simple vendor search on Bria and you'll see there are a lot of weaponsmiths that put powerups on their guns to draw people in, but yet their guns aren't really that great once you take the powerup off.

its less false advertising then just cheesy...its counting on people not reading the details

its the same as people who used to put outrageous entry fees on houses knowing most people would simply hit ok...since they would be used to a 1 credit fee. legal in game but still lame.

i don't know how many times i have seen zero condition weapons on the bazaar for 20k.

so i'm sorry if you got taken, i personally don't condone it. if i put a used weapon up i put a note in the details so people know there is a powerup, in case they aren't looking at the details. but it is rare for me to sell weapons like that.

Better yet how about the proton carbines selling for 900K that are USED. I guess these guys are hoping some sucker doesn't realize thatit's a biolink item...

Well, let me just toss this idea out and see where it goes...

Sliced Weapons and Armor are coming off of vendors and the bazaar already, we know that...

What ifany item that:

  • Is sliced

  • Is Bio-Linked or otherwise useable only by a single individual (such as tuned crystals)

  • Has a Power-up installed (I know they can be removed, but as has been mentioned, this hasled to some ripoffs)

  • Has zero condition

Could notbe sold on the vendors or bazaar? I doubt the Devs would go for anytime in the near future, but I think this could at least stop some problems that have popped up.

I'd rather they remove everything BUT the sliced items from the vendors... lol. I'm not going to complain about merchant/smugglers... they are smugglers too afterall.
