Not sure how I feel about this honestly.

A good location wont matter anymore, and I think it will start some serious price wars. This will be rough on the professions that quality doesn't matter, there will be a lot of undercutting.

This is the very change a lot of people have been asking for - And the one that many of us have been trying to delay.

Welcome to the truly Free Market economy you've all been asking for.

Ok please correct me if I read this wrong

items purchased will go directly to the buyers inventory, making it unecessary to travel to the city where the vendor resides?

Im not sure how to interpret this, if it means that if the vendor isnt on my planet do I still have to travel, or what..or do I get the item 'Fed-Ex'ed' to me in all cases?

I certainly hope this is not true because if players no longer have to go to player cities to shop, its going to ruin towns financially by loss of shuttleport fees, and especially with the sales tax still bugged. What so this means that the only people who actually see your shop will be the folks who live in your town?

All that vendor barking will be useless as there will be no one to see them

If this winds up working like the Bazaar terms do now, in terms of the region you are in, then that wont be so bad as some travel will still be required, and you will have extra chances for a visitor to see the other shops in town.

I just hope im wrong about being able to have items insta-delivered anywhere.

Purchasing Items
Players who purchase an item using this system will have the item sent directly to them. After a successful purchase the player will receive a message telling them if the item was delivered successfully to their inventory or if the delivery failed. If the item was not successfully retrieved then a waypoint to the location of the vendor will be mailed to player. The player will then need to travel to the waypoint location to retrieve the item from vendor or bazaar directly.

You're both right and wrong. Items will be "fed-exed" if at all possible. if there is a reason it cannot transfer (I have to assume it's a random roll thing), you will have to travel to get it.

We can only wait and see.

See the problem is that a lot of people ask for stuff without actually thinking about what effect it will have. Then more people say "yea that sounds great," also without thinking about the full effects. Enough people ask for something, then it may get added.

This is bad.

You will never get everybody to agree on certain prices. So this new change means that people will simply buy the cheapest one out there. When sales drop for people, they will then undercut as well.

The end result will be lower prices across the board. This is BAD because it allows combatents to hold onto more mission money, instead of putting it into the economy. The more money people sit on, they more they are willing to dump into loot items and such, causing inflation of those prices. The prices will be out of reach of crafters.

The end result is the combatents end up with a large amonut of money and eventually there is no point to being a crafter.

Worst...idea...ever.

This is great for non-crafters, but for anyone who enjoys being a crafter and enjoys playingthe economy is going to get a red-hot poker up the a$$.

Basically this removes all other forms of product differentiation: customer service, location...even having a cool looking shop. All that will matter now is price...andgiving customers100% perfect market knowledge will relentlessly drive down prices on all goods. I'm sure non-crafters will love that, but the rest of us are screwed.

This is far, far worse than any of the veteran rewards.

You forget tomention this will enable the older, more established Crafters to begin to monopolize the market. They have better resources saved from old spawns, more credits to sit out any storm, and can drastically undercut ANY new crafter from the get go.

I guess I need to know what cases would cause 'delivery failure' to completely understand this.

Looks like this change mimics whats going on in R/L..that is switching from national economies to a global one. In our case its going from a planetary economy to a galactic economy.

Your sales opportunites just got increased but so did your competition.

My advice is starting RIGHT NOW work on making sure your current customer base loves you like no other, and dont give them any reasons to go bazaar shopping. If I were you, as soon as those 'player event' perks come available, Id be marketing like crazy, dropping those NPC actors all over to talk about my shop, and running all kinds of events in my town/near my shop to get people in. Start running those lotteries etc.

Its not the end of the world but given it will be a galactic economy, you will have to pedal fast and hard to keep up, as no longer will you have a captive audience of customers. This is one of the hallmarks of capitalism, no one has to buy a darn thing from you or even talk to you. its up to you to make them want what you have.

It's more insidious than that - If it were browsing from the Bazaar, it would be one thing. But re-read the posting - This searching will be from VENDORS - Meaning you can come to my vendor, glance at my prices - And then see how many, if any beat my price, and buy it from MY vendor. i've just turned into YOUR advertising by having a vendor.

If only they'd place a fee so that the person who OWNS the actual vendor gets a cut from the sales, it may be more palatable.

I hate it. Some crafters pride themselves on opening multiple shops around the galaxy. It is hard to maintain but makes a difference because your wares are more readily available. So what's the point of being a master merchant? I loved having the extra vendors, now it will not even matter.
