I saw a thread on the Kettemorr forums about the new updates for Publish7. One of the items was a change in Warcry

"Warcry has been changed from being a single target lock down preventing it from attacking to a method of “crowd control”."

Does anybody have any info on this? Will warcry still imobilize targets for 10-20 secs causing them to be inactive? Cause I'm loving my Warcry2 and it could only get better if it would have an area effect!

Nothing say "beatdown" like a Warcry2 (with +32 Warcry/Intimidate BE Clothes), a Power Hammer, and a whole lot of headHit3.

Im thinking it sounds like a nerf

area effect but as soon as you start damaging an opponenet they lose the war cry status. Thus it will be usefull for focusinng on one mob or retreating. Either way it sounds like a mesmorise area effect, which compared to what it is now sounds like a nerf to me.

NOOOOOOOO!!! I hope this is not a nerf, I'll be screwed as a Swordsman if I cant use Warcry like it is now...how else will I survive the Dizzy/KD combo? It was only untill I started using Warcry and CoB that I fell in love with Brawler, cause man its not easy being a wookiee brawler!

Well I'm not a fan of removing the current Warcry functionality...please dont nerf it!!

Yep it is a nerf. Now it is like a stronger center of being. You can stop a whole group from atttacking you, while you heal, spice, or whatever. If it was an improvement, he would have just said, "now warcry can work on multiple targets" or something like that. Damn, now how am I going to actually fight a TKA

Be sure you guys read that carefully. Because the rest of that he goes on to say that it will only work against those who are not already attacking you. So if they are attacking you, it does NOTHING. It only prevents them from attacking you, when they normally would, IF they were NOT already attacking you.

At first this didn't sound like too much of a nerf, it actually almost sounded useful, until I realized something.

When I find myself surrounded, I execute one of the MANY MANY spin/area attacks available to the brawler professions, which sounds like it would completely negate warcry. Also, when I'm up front tanking a group of enemies, my ranged group members tend to use their area/cone attacks on the tightly packed mobs. Yay

So unless the new warcry has a HUGE radius, and candelay ranged attackers from quite a distance away, It will rarely get used (Could still be useful for retreating I guess, but that's what burst run is for).

I guess we'll have to wait for the rest of the changes to be revealed, but taking away warcry as an offensive weapon just great simplified combat for me. All I really will be ableto do is do my best single-hit or area-attack, and maybe intimidate2/stun. Trying to land a warcry and a knockdown (and bleeds) on multiple targets kind of spiced things up a bit, among the additional tactics that could be employed with an immoble target (I would knockdown/warcy a target, and then run away from it using a area-effect-cone ranged attack on it. With this, I could hit all of the other creatures I was kiting, it worked very well).

Oh well...

This is how I interprete it as well. Basically, if they are not attacking you if you warcry they wont aggro you for 20 secs. But if they already are attacking you warcry will be ineffective against a single target or a MOB.

This may be helpful in PvE but in PvP.... Its a big time nerf.

I've asked for clarification of the intended warcry change, I'll let you all know as soon as I do.

"Warcry has been changed from being a single target lock down preventing it from attacking to a method
of “crowd control”. Enemies can be temporarily prevented from attacking as long as they are not
currently being attacked themselves. "

Basically this means that if you warcry a mob, and no one is "attacking" it, it cant attack, but once someone hits it with an attack, it "breaks" free and is able to attack... For those that have played everquest or dark ages of camelot, this ability was called "mez" for mesmerizing a target or "sleep"

Reasong for its implementation? ..Its a nerfpreventing you from soloing the harder mobs i think.

holy crap it is a nerf

it makes warcry 2 useless

if warcry makes multiple enemies not attack you

then what does warcry 2 do?

if you arent attacking an enemy it generally wont attack you anyways

they should leave it the way it is
