Thread: Defense stacks TK + FENCER question

Alrighty, I'm familiar with how this works, and I am tempted to pursue this (As a TKM / Master Brawler I am looking to get Novice fencer and all of the defence tree). As of now those defences stack. Which is very nice. What I am asking is this...Will these defences continue to stack for melee and ranged def? I have heard rumors that after the next patch they will no longer do so. Does anyone know about this? Anyone conferor deny this? Just wanted to know before I spend a good deal of time working on fencer skills.

Any help is appriciated. Thank you.

I saw a thread a while back, believe in the fencer forum addressing that. They should continue to stack, ie the def vs dizzy, etc and the melee and range defenses should and will continue to stack too.

So dont worry. In fact sounds like your character will be unstopable. If you want him to have some vulnerability give him some pike skills (hmmm, maybe skill is a bad word choice as it indicates some kind of talent or proficiency. Maybe we should just say color in some of those pike boxes. That will ensure you are handicapped in melee, you know for balance and all that.)

Ok, I'll do that.

No, really thanks for the info. I'm relieved.

Pike skills....hehe...funny.

I would note that while stacking these defenses can be nice, opponents with high accuracy wills till hit you a lot. Krayts, jedis, high level nightsisters, all hit me pretty much every time. Players with very high accuracy (such as TKA's) will still tend to hit you most of the time too.

There's always a bigger fish on the pond. But it doesn't hurt to be a bigger fish yourself

Dig around in devtracker. Recently TH posted that stacking defenses will be goneafter the combat revamp.

I believe this was clarified to indicate that certain unbalanced ones would be going and that the rest would be balanced. TH said that they still want to keep this a "skill-based" game with continued gains from specializing in more combat professions.

I think we'll have to wait and see what happens (I'm not getting any details myself).

Intimidate and Stun work wonders against the high defense stackers.

Blind increases the chance to hit your opponent as well. It's not necessarily intuitive, but I've tested this.

Actually, after reading a few recent comments by TH, I'm not sure where things stand. I'm trying to get more info on this at the moment.

please StGabrieltry to find out more about the staking of MELEE CLASS defenses, if this is a skilled base game then we have to profit from beeing a master tkm with master fencer or brawler or whatever in the melee class... otherwise would just be stupid...

i dont mind if they nert the stacking of meleewith ranged classes defenses tho... if you wanna be a PURE brawler then u should be...this isone of the main things that makes this game fun....
