Thread: Attention Unarmed Brawlers: Post your most effective fighting techniques

I am trying to see if I really know the most effective way to fight unarmed. I have vibroknuckles so I usually just rely on regular attack and maybe and occasional Berserk to increase damage. I am curious to see what the most effective techniques are and how they're being used.

Thanks!

When dealing with creatures I learned to love wire mesh traps then glow wire traps and now the adhesive mesh traps. I hardly us specials or berserk because of these. With humanoids grenades. So basically it's:

Throw trap - punch a little - throw trap (if they're still alive.)

My favorite thing to do is:

/Attack ; /Follow ; Unequip Knucklers ; /Blind ; /Stun ; /Berserk ; Re-Equip Knucklers

For weaker opponents leave out the zerk.

Well, what I would do is get close to the mob and then use intimidate until it worked. Usually it was the second try, but I've had to do it as many as 10 times! ARGH! Anyway, Intimidate cuts their damage way down (half?) so you take less of a beating and them I go berzerk and whale away at 'am. I could (started over) take 3 yellows in a row, but not at the same time, with little downtime by doing it this way. I could take a red this way, but just barely or not at all depending what it was. In my case it was an alpha veermok at starting TKA Novice.

So, to summarize, Intimidate, Berzerk and attack.

One last thing, if you're fighting really tough mobs, try to get them one at a time instead of fighting them all at once.

I'm a 1Handed swordman/scout, but I think I have some tips for you.

Get novice scout, the wire mesh traps are great. wire mesh traps weaken a creature melee defense (you can drop it later when you need the points)

Irarely use berserk, and never at thestart of a fight.

normal fight is something like this: Wire mesh trap, /follow, /1H dizzy, /1H body hit, /intimidateand /1H body hit, then /1H dizzy or/intimidateif one of them did not work. IF the MOB have a low action pool I'll use /1H hit instead of /1H body hit.

As a unarmed fighter you will have stun and blind, so you have to experiment which MOB to use which one on.

I'm going to try using Lunge after trap and before /follow because of its increased range.

Good luck

That's a great tip Akuna, I hadn't even thought of unequiping knucklers in the middle of the fight to stun or blind.

Here's what I do as an expert unarmed brawler. One important note is that all my moves are hotkeyed, Istart unarmed and use no armor.

Itarget my enemy and get within melee range. If it's an NPC I I first useIntimidate1, then I use Unarmed Stun1, then Unarmed Blind1. I note if any specials worked on the NPC. If not a single onetook effect, I repeat Unarmed Stun1 or Unarmed Blind1 until one does. Once affected and depending on how much Health I have left (if I have more than normal), I might use Unarmed Hit1 or Unarmed Lunge1 to bring the NPC to his knees. Now I arm myself with my Vibro Knuckes and finish the combat without any special moves.

If it's a creature, I use Intimidate1, then Unarmed Stun1, then Unarmed Blind1.Again, if nothing has affected the creature, I repeat Unarmed Stun1 or Unarmed Blind1 until one does work. And depending on my Health, I might useUnarmed Hit1. I then arm myself with my Vibro Knuckles and finish the creature without any special moves.

I'm now experimenting with tossing a trap or dart just prior to engaging and that does help IF it works. If it doesn't, then I haven't lost anything by trying

I'm still in the dark about going berserk as I've not used it. But that's another angle I'll be checking out in the future. I'm just concerned about the fact that when you use it, you're open for more hits.

Usually warcry to slow down the damage they do. Then try to get an intimidate in. Most of the time I hunt with a master medic soon to be combat medic so its not much of a problem for me.

Berserk is probably only a good choice at the start of a fight for Unarmed because we don't have the same specials the other melee branches do. Even then, you should make sure youget Blind, Stun or Intimidate to work first as you won't be able to use them again until the zerk wears off. I usually start with Blind instead of Stun becauseBlind seems to have the greater defensive effect and I'd like them to start missing me as soon as possible. You can also blind your 2nd or 3rd opponents then switch back to your main target to help reduce the damageyou're receiving.

I've noticed a couple of you mention you un-equip knucklers befoe doing specials, then re-equip... Why not just leave them on? What am I missing?

Thanks in advance!

The reason we un-equip our vibronknuckles before doing specials is that the cost to our HAM bars are too high. If you berserk or unarmedStun while wearing them, it probably hurts more than it helps.

I put my vibroknuckle on one of the hotkeys (F1- F12) so I can equip/un-equip quickly during battle.

However, does anyone know how to equip/un-equip in a macro? Nothing I've tried works.

Thanks,

Raam

Just drag your knuckler over to the hotkey bar, that's what I do.

1. Pull with Carbine Action_Shot1

2. Stand when target gets in range.

3. Intimidate until it works (up to 8 times ... UG!)

4. Attack using no specials. I never berserk.
