I totally agree but devs could really care less about that. All they want to do is make jedi gods and ruin the game even further. If i wanted jedi it wouldnt be for pvp as much as it would be to swing a lightsaber and use forcepowers i dotn want a pvp god char.

Most MMORPG'sreally need some sort of tanker. After the combat revamp and doc buff nerf,I think it will bemuch harder formelee classes to compete when they have to be up close taking lots of damage. It isn't realistic for them to have huge hit point pools and I think the devs are adamant about keeping HAM the way it is, so what if you could gain skills to lower armor encumbrance?
Basically, it would be realistic that close up fighters are going to learn how to use armor more skillfully, so shouldn't they have less encumbrance? Realistically, it also makes sense that someone wearing armor could absorb lots of damage from dangerous creatures and powerful weapons. So why not give brawler andsome melee classes bonuses to encumbrance reduction to further define the different melee classes and make them more competitive? The bonuses could evenstack between different advancedprofessions to make pure melee a viable alternative to hybrids.
I would really like to play a melee class, but I'm afraid to commit to one because of the possibility of them becomingunder-powered after the combat revamp. I would really like to see a comment on this fromone of thecorrespondants because I think this could be a great idea to present to the devs. Thanks for reading.
Under the current system Melee classes have a edge over most ranged proffesions as is. While what you propose is a good idea, I am not sure how effective I would be at persuading for this kind of change, untill some of the ranged classes are brought up to par. Also under the current system a pure melee class player is VERY playable. I have been such for months, and do well in pve and pvp.

Personally i'd like to see armor hinder melee professions. Granted i'm an all melee guy still.. Do you think you can fly around with a full set of armor on? Well i'd like to get rid of armor overall but thats just me... Encumbrence doesn't play a part in fighting anymore since nearly everyones buffed nowdays...

Buffs will be nerfed in the CB, so should armour. Composite at least.

Jedi is just a step over all the other professions, but they're definatly killable.

Armour encumbrance reducers are certainly needed for melee classes in the future, given the nerfs to buffs etc and other professions' reliance on us to tank mobs for them. This is true unless the devs reduce pve damage against us or give us a load more toughness.
Melee classes since the dawn of warfare have always been laiden with armour wheras ranged classes such as bowmen have always been wearing light to no protection with the exception of crossbowmen who often wore medium armour due to the ease of operating a crossbow compared to a bow.

If you want better armor type stuff for melee it should be sword or pike as they are less about finesse and more about power. In other words less defense than a fencer or TK. It's probably hard as anything to do an axe kick in a full suit of armor. So ask yourself would you rather have evasion... or damage absorbtion?

Mapai...I believe he means after all is said and done with the CB and the GCW. Where melee stands right now (better than ranged) it is only a matter of time before it is balanced. But when this balance comes, it would seem like melee might end up being underpowered. As it stands now, with armor/buffs almost any elite melee class can solo anything. But once buffs and armor are nerfed, I agree with the original poster that melee professions might end up being underpowered. Melee players will end up being balanced with the ranged profession, but the melee will suffer the lose of armor and buffs which made him actually be able to "tank" creatures. A ranged can always suppression fire/ keep the creature away from him and take relatively no damage. While the melee guy always has the creature right next to him attacking. This idea he had I believe is a great idea, given that it is balanced with speed. If you get certain encumberance bonuses, at master of an elite professionsay you can wear a full set of composite without a buff, but each piece of armor will lower your attack speed by say a tenth of a second (this is not the final number, just an example). Therefore with a cap of 40%/60% on armor, and buffs nerfed, the melee guy can still be the tank. It can even slow down his running speed, therefore he can take a good amount of damage, but be vulnerable to a ranged guy running away from him. So I believe is something like this was added with speed penalties it would be a nice balanced way to nerf armor/buffs without really nerfing melee classes.
