I also think that SWG is made for diversity and class combinations, but that does not mean that it's right to be forced to use a gun to be efficient. Brawlers are suppose to be efficient at brawling. That means "in your face, kicking your butt".

Sure I can pick up Trapping skills from the trapping tree. But that does absolutely nothing when we fight humanoids. Trapping only affects animals, which you have failed to mention.

Brawlers need defensive bonuses because some of us chose not to pick up a gun. We like to brawl and be melee. The game is made to allow this. At this time, there is imbalance between ranged and melee and it needs to be addressed.

When ham costs do more damage than the actual mob I'm fighting. Something is wrong...

SO.... What have the devs said? Obviously the devs must not play a brawler much. I suppose since the love to nerf the brawler, they must play a marksmen. After all, marksmen aren't getting nerfed with the different patches.

Devs are doing a SLOPPY JOB. No doubt about it. There's no real life factored into situations! Go ahead and try to kite me with your heavy rifle. To run backwards and aim should be hard as ___. I bet if I were a brawler, I'd be able to disarm and beat the living snot out of the dork.

Brawlers were NERFED DEVS! WHY? I WANT SOME INPUT!

They have 33 different lists to read through and understand, then they will probably want some clarification and discuss things. I'd imagine that with all there other work, it will take a week or three for them to digest it all.

In the interim, we can still discuss Brawler issues and come up with helpful solutions.

the problem is, as an advanced rifleman, I hit with my special move 9 out of 10 times, do more damage, can control the pool i hit, and it doesnt take as much HAM points to use. With advanced brawler, I hit half the time with my special (generously) it does less damage, it could target the mind pool and all the rest of my hits could target health, rendering it useless, and it drains my HAM more. I think if you aren't going up in marksman at the same time as brawler, you wouldnt realize the inherent inequities in the system. I went up in rifle in half the time as unarmed, and I didn't even have to strategize at all. There needs to be SOME advantage to fighting up close, regardless of what you people who are scared of having a tank in the game say. Right now, there isnt one. However, I think I am going to give up on this thread, as it seems that virtually everyone except for about two or three people agree.

Spaz,

I was getting frustrated with Brawler as most of the party I am with are Marksmen. I think this is a step in the right direction to get brawler a little better.

Thanks for the good work.

FYI,

There is already a way to improve your success rates of our "awesome" special moves. Its called get master brawler and pretty much double your chance at a successful special. In otherwords, don't go asking for improved success rates for novice level brawlers, as there is already a means to increase them.

Obviously, some people haven't tried PvP against mildly competent people. I am a third-box pikeman in the brawler tree. I noticed a red dot following me, and it turned out to be a Rebel I had DBed before looking for some revenge (I had barely damaged him before, it was my ranged backup that did the job). I went into a guild hall and he waited outside. I walked outside and found him sitting down. I RPed a little bit, as is my style, and then he stood up to run. I started attacking whilehe was standing up. While doing this, I immediately smacked /follow and F5 (burstrun hotkey) as he hit burstrun and started running.

My first attack, as he was still standing up, was Out of Range. As I followed him closely through the city with a double-digits ping (which should be sufficient for anything), I just got a spam of Out of Range messages. He tried to throw off /follow by running through tricky areas, but I took off /follow and got even closer. Still Out of Range. There's numbers next to his name for to-hit chance while I'm trying to smack him as he makes a wrong turn. Still Out of Range. The numbers will stay up for the remainder of the battle. I turn /follow back on and invite a covert Bounty Hunter who has tagged along. This entire time I haven't landed a blow, but he's been nickeling and diming me (I have armor on, he has a pistol) so I'm at about 3/4 health (must've been relatively low level, but I've seen him around a lot before, so I dunno).

The Bounty Hunter does a ranged knockdown move and hits him to the ground. Finally, I think. As I stand over his body, both of us motionless, with a +3 to-hit bonus, I still get Out of Range. The Bounty Hunter hits Eye Shot a couple times and the mark goes down.

Yes, there is an Out of Range problem/bug/whatever, and it's preventing brawler professions from being anything but window dressing in PvP.

Spaz,

After reading your post and the others following yours, I will have patience to see how the next 2-3 weeks go. I realize you are a liaison between the devs and us and my post was one of frustration. It is my sincere hope that the brawler class can be "fixed". Pick any one of the threads complaining about problems with the brawler and there are usually people who are offering suggestions.

As it stands though, none of the suggestions have been acted upon. What feedback have you heard, spaz? I mean, you are the correspondent for us brawlers (a.k.a. liaison) I'm sure you have made some communications with them. Have they said anything? If not, could you PLEASE ask them for some feedback about their thoughts on the brawler, based on your input and practically everyones complaints?

I want to thank you for your efforts, spaz, to allieve the current brawler problems.

I would assume that most correspondents will hear back from SOE about a week or two after they have sent off their lists. You must be patient and understand that there are 32 other classes and they all think that their issues are the most important. They devs have a lot of combined issues to go through and proposed solutions to read.

Honestly, there are other classes that are worse off then we are (BE, DE, Commando, Smiths) so we should at least be thankful that the base structure of our tree works, and we can advance.

I should hear back from them soon. I only submitted the list on 7-25 so the developers have had it just 4 days. I'd imagine also that next week, there will be some questions asked to sort of field different solutions for problems in our list that they agree needs changing. I'd also imagine that there are some things they think don't need changing.

I'm certain that things can be worked out for the benefit of everyones game play experience.

Spaz,

I have to eat my words about HAM cost not being to high, last nigh I wanted to see how long I could keep a MOB knocked-down using just 1 handed lunge. I normally don't use lunge so I decide I better try it on a white MOB. Well my mind pool was completely empty in no time. Also found out there is no point in doing a second Lunge on a MOBto get it to laydown, because it goes straight from laydown to standing-up as fast as from kneeling to standing.Last weekI was useing a Gaderiffi Baton which has a much lower mind cost, then the Ryyk Blade I used for the test, but we should not be limited in the weapon we use by the HAM cost of special moves. I wish I had the time to do a major test on the special moves, but I don't ;(

Good Luck in getting these fixs in.

I did not register right away for the board, I didn't really know it existed when I got the game. Use the force Luke (common sense in your case).

Hey Spaz do you think they will possibly increase damage output by melee weapons in any way? Or possibly increase our chances of NOT getting hit?

Spaz,

Nailed a majority of my issues on the mark. good job on being a correspondant.

Another thing though...It appears that up the 1H tree, the only thing that bothers people much is the HAM bars for Mind drain, because even if you're a medic, you can't heal that. Lunging takes the most out of people, but really the major issue with HAM bar drains is the Mind drain since we cannot heal it in any way. Perhaps food with an over-time heal of mind would alleviate that? For example, a Drink that heals 100 mind over the course of 10 seconds?
