As is with master brawler and novice swordsman I can easily solo yellows and some reds. Absorbing more damage would definitely not be the answer. There should be mobs that challenge groups so there is a reason to bring a medic along with you. I do think that melee defense should do more...making mobs miss or something. I a group I am always the tank and almost always live. If something does manage to kill me it will probably also kill a ranged fighter unless they run. When I get hit by mob x for 50 damage a ranged fighter with rifle will probably be hit by same mob for 200 damage.I do agree there are issues that need a bit of tweaking but that is pretty much standard with all the proffesions.

IMHO, the bottom line is that a Brawler doesn't have "prone" to go into, or any sort of defensive stance. We go into combat, knuckles flying, swords flashing, pikes.....um...piking, and then we kill one enemy and have to sit down for a minute with no armor in order to try and regain all of our stats again, so we can repeat this process.

Brawlers deserve some sort of skill that allows them faster stat regeneration or something of the likes AS WELL AS a bonus in defense. We are the closest thing to a "tank" in SWG (although i never played EQ) so deserve....no, require some bonuses to make us less kill-able (sp) because we are the ones who actually go toe to toe with the rancor while the sniper sits back and takes potshots.

My two cents....thank you......goodnight /bow

Wookies make good smash. They are a very fine choice for a Brawler. Especially if you like big smelly ape like things.

Spaz, melee is just a viable as ranged, and thus should be balanced. Melee isnt a secondary form of combat, or why pick it?

So if i go melee, im secondary to a droid engineer with some pistol skills?

Ideally the tradeoff would be that we take far more damage in combat, but we deal more damage as well.

Brawling should be about short, brutal fights.

Ranged combat should be about slower, safer damage.

"Whoever is claiming brawlers do less damage than ranged: please just cancel your account, because it's so-not-true it's not even funny. Right now melee do a LOT more damaged than ranged. If you're not doing more, it's because you have a really crappy weapon."

I think this is far far from the truth. I'm not sure about other classes but I'm unarmed with a pretty good pair of knuckles, top out at 145 damage. Basically I top out at about 240 per hit. I've seen much higher base damage from just about every other class. If yuo add in the multipliers from hitting someone prone or holding a rifle than yes. But, in PVE against a mob, unarmed is soooo owned.

I think that the weapon trees in the brawler class are pretty balanced. I've seen melee dudes dishing out major damage. Unarmed though needs a little help. If you don't have vibroknuckles, your in trouble. I don't think that an entire skill branch should depend so heavily on one piece of gear, especially if you don't get that gear up front. You can do astounding damage as a tka, but as joe blow unarmed dude you're gonna get smacked up by a white mob. I don't think we should be able to take more damage, I think we should be able to avoid more damage. I also think that we should do more damage. We'll see what happens when that massive patch hits.
