Thread: To all of you whiners out there!
The point of this thread is the unbalance. Now if we are going to talk real life here is some real life experience talking. Just to give myself some credibility here is some background. I was a US Marine Sniper. Expert Rifleman time and time again. Took high shooter on the range when I was a Deputy Sherif dropped 0 of 300 rounds from the 9 ring. I also am a 1st degree second tic black belt.
So with that said this is for the people out there with all the Hollywood real life I saw it on TV experience.
1. The average person can not hit a target more then 15 yards away. I know I was a PMI (primary marksman instructor for them).
2. I know for a fact even the accomplished (equivalent to master in this game) marksman I am I can not hit people all that often when at a full run and they are running and dodging. I most defintely would have a hardtime shooting people through walls (can't see them) though it can be done. I can not with out a doubt shoot anyone or anything through a mountain (armor peircing inciderary rounds and nukes excluded).
3. As a hand to hand combatant I do very well against untrained people. I would not have a problem dispatching 1 to 3 untrained people very quickly and I would suffer little to no damage to myself. Takedowns, knee strikes, leg sweeps, throat shots, fingers in the eye, ripping ears off (15 lbs of pressure yeehaa), solar plexes, break fingers, break arms, break legs, break necks (neck being the hardest) I could go on.This is what I will do first in a life threathening situation. Now would I try and take on my Master....... No way not in a million years. Yes it took him along time to get there, but there are pictures of him featured on magizines break 10 bricks with his fist, a baseball bat with his foot, and countless numbers of photographs of him tossing us BlackBelts around like stuffed animals. He is a Master not to be triffled with.
4. Just to keep it real would I ever go up against even a stupid punk on the street carrying his pistol. NO. I would not like to take on an untrained knifeman if I could avoid it. The old saying don't leave you knife at home during a knife fight and don't bring it to a gun fight.
5. Last note. This is not real life and that is a relief. If it were you wouldn't even hear the round hit you, just wake up all FUBAR. Hand to hand is a last defense. I play that way in the game too. Pistol til your up on me then SURPRISE I can brawl too. But all in all the classes are unbalanced.
Well said Iagleato. This is not reality. I must digress with you on the role of urarmed brawler. I UAs current state it is only a pathway to TKA or a Hybrid profession. If I have my pistol out and someone comes within melee range and I choose to go unarmed against them it's more like "SURPRISE I'm stupid"because since both skills are equal in my case it proves detrimental to switch weapons. This shouldn't be the case. With the armed brawler classesswitching weapons is a boon. They will hit more often for similar damage. While I will hit more oftenthat alone is not enough of an offsetting factor to make up for the damage reduction. If I go berserk ( when it works )the damage is about equal but the high HAM cost puts me in a perilious position.
The balance issue with unarmed IMO all comes down to the low amount of damage. With higher damage HAM costs would be less of a concern becauseI wouldn't have to rely on stringing specials together to kill or incap practically everything. I could group more often because then I would get a better share of Xp. Defense would be less of a concern because I wouldn't be in combat as long therefore, I wouldn't take as much damage. Unarmed damage is one of the few lingering devolopment problems that could be solved sledgehammer style, simply give unarmed more base damage. I realize this would generate complaint from ranged users but since their not complaining about damage from armed brawlers I don't see this as a legitimate complaint. Melee range should be the domain of the brawler with or without weapons.
