Thread: PROPOSING A NEW PROFESSION
My preferred one is the cryo whip (think weapon of the rodians). When it struck it gave a charge of cold. Would be nice to have a cold damage weapon

You may have noticed the Devs rebalance of classes is generallyto weaken them and make them less effective. If you took your head out of your comic books (or where ever else you have stuck it) you may have also noticed they have just broken Warcry oryou may even have noticed they have put Hard Caps on defenses...And after all this you are proposing to introduce a weapon/profession that has an effective range 6mtrs over that of a Rifle and 50mtrs over that of any current Melee attack. A weapon that will Do 900 to 4k in damage. Well that minimum damage would kill me in one hit, unbuffed...Take into account my Onehanded Toughness and I should have about 200 health from the first hit alone, lets hope it wasn't a special or I'd just be a red smear on the floor. Ok lets assume that is PvE damage, so PvP damage is now in 200-1000 range...Riiight.
No, we don't remember the Whip that beat Luke down because no one else here has read those comics. What we do remember is the last person Luke beat in a fight (ignoring all you comic books, novels and where ever else you dig up stories from) wasa big asthmaticguy in a black suit called Vader...Considering how powerful he was meant to be do you really think this sort of weapon should be given too a Brawler profession? Let me explain that a bit further. You propose to introduce a Brawler Class that can attack a Rifleman without fear of return fire (he's out of range, bless him) and outdamage every other Melee profession...in fact every profession except Commando and Bounty Hunter but I'm betting you are planning on super fast attacks for this profession to match that of a Fencer, no wait, to match those of a Master Jedi, so even the poor BH and Commando are left trailing in the damage stakes. How balanced does this sound to you so far? But wait, it has a weakness, a Jedi with 2 lightsabres can defeat one, oh good...I was getting worried that this character was too powerful.
My suggestion would stop dreaming about Lady of the Sith, stop trying to work out why there is no Jedi profession in the character generation. Get a melee character to Master, spend the rest of you skill points else where...PLAY THE GAME...fight in some PvP and THEN look at your suggested profession and see how it could be balanced to fit in with the other Melee professions. If you have done all the above already then I truely dispair for you but I can assure that no game developer will introduce anon FS profession that is as powerful as you are asking this to one to be...

????????? - You sure you got those stats right. Melee range is approx 25m with unarmed lunge 2, weapons around 10m max. Perhaps you should post this on the ranged forum. You might like to re-read your damage stats as well. No lightsaber or heavy weapon will be hitting for that damage, and lightsabers are the ultimate weapon (or at least should be) according to all star wars lore comic or not. A Tusken Rifle used as a coshknocked Luke out considerably, probably due to his lack of composite armour, yet I don't think rifleman should suddenly get KD/Dizzy from clubbing you with their gun. Get your ideas from whatever source you like but try to think in gaming terms when presenting them - beware of quoting figures as opposed to setting roles in combat which is preferred in proposals.
I think a whip could be included in the one-handed tree as new weapons are badly wanted but still going to be hard to dislodge the stun baton from my hand. I can not see how whipping is a class in it's own and how it should be a hybrid one better than Jedi. I think a dual weapon fighter would be a better hybrid tree for melee classes. Or possibly making Teras Kasi hybrid and adding a few more weapons and some throwing weapon abilities. I'm not goign to post a full proposal for either as the developers have bigger issues and I would rather they worked on the space expansion and more planets/content when they are done with combat rebalance. I like the current melee classesand wouldlike to see themfixed first.
Also I can not see any point in having to Master Entertainer to get an elite hybrid brawler character. What part of Instrument playing or Hairstyling is an essential combat skill. Dancing is also dubious but at least it could be said to increase footwork speed and agility. In fact I don't see that any of the basic professions would combine with brawler to lead to an elite hybrid classand so it would need a rethinkorsome new basic professions to initiate a melee hybrid class (there is a slight contradiction in melee-hybrid).
