Brawler Archive

I just made Teras Kasi Novice last night along with Creature Handler Novice. I love being an unarmed fighter. I can do some crazy stuff. I have soloed the whole way. I have never grouped. I do not need to. I had a marksmans jaw drop when I took on 6 bocatts at once and made it out alive. The game is really what you make it. I do not like firearm combat. I will never pick up a gun. I will be Teras Kasi till my game life ends. I encourage people to find what makes them happy in this game. I just do not like to see these type posts berating my profession which I enjoy so much. If you do not like Unarmed Combat go for whatever you enjoy. I have been asked many times why I chose unarmed. I cannot answer that reallyI just do. After Progressing last night I can take on Crazed Dunri with easy at 250XP a kill and more. I can even solo those Huge Zebra things for 400XP a kill. I am by no means weak.

Sorry about the double post. The first one timed out I thought it did not post.

Check out Teras Kasi profession for more on this. Unarmed needs to be balanced vs. ranged as it stands the difference between the two is to great.

Some combination of these would be great.

1. Increase avoidance and/or mitigation when brawling

2. Decrease costs of special moves

3. Increase chances of special moves landing

4. Increase the schematics for viable unarmed weapons and lower their special moves cost

5. Increase base damage so special moves need not be used as often.

The problem is not that brawlers are weakerthan mobs.

Theproblem is thatbrawlers areweaker than marksmen.

Oh wait - now I'm whining because I want to do something in the game other than low level PVE. So what your'e saying is that I need to change my playstyle. As a brawler Ishouldn't expect to participate in the GCW, I shouldn't be an overt, and Ishouldn't duel or try to be effective in high level hunting parties.

Funny, I pay the same amount to play as the marksmenand they can do all those things.

As for the hybrid professions like brawler - creature handler,having to use pets (animals, droids or faction) in order to do the same things that marksmen can do without them just shows how much weaker the brawlers really are.

Yeah - sounds balanced to me... NOT!

Vargus, you tell us to get over ourselves, but then you yourself admit that you were not happy with the zerk nerf. I think thats what pushed most people here over the edge. Small nerf after small nerf is acceptable, but to essentially nerf zerk the way they did was a heck of a lot larger than a small nerf. My fights against mobs is now essentially doubled, thus doubling the damage I take from the mobs equating into more downtime. Guess what, downtime is not fun.

Furthemore, to the Creature handler guy who claims to solo and get 400 a pop with pet in tow, your not really soloing. Your pet is probably doing significant damage allowing you to do the things you do. Try those fights w/o unarmed, in other words be a pure TKA and then come back and talk to us that the "class" is fine. Furthermore, I play these stupid MMO's because I like grouping with people. As it is now, I have yet to see any incentives for grouping with anyone. Less xp(and poorly implemented group xp system so far) and considering there are relatively few people who heal (should change overtime) equates to a pretty pathetic grouping game.

In the end, us "whiners" do have a legitamate gripe, and telling us to switch classes is a friggen insult. It was the whiners that got us nerfed in the first place, and it will be the whiners who will get us unerfed, or at least somewhat respectable again.

For those of you claiming that there's nothing wrong with brawler, I have a request -Go duel a pistol user of equal skill for a while. When you get tired of losing, come back and tell us how much fun it was.

2 words, Vibro Knucklers. I snagged mine for 200cr.

Look for PvP brawler is great but you cant expect a Brawler to take on a pistoleer. Now a Teras Kasi he might have a chance but a brawler just isnt going to cut it.

I got a pair of Vibro knuckles last night and it made a world of difference. I can do 2 missions with maybe one rest. I am taking out whites with little to no trouble. I made 10k exp. in about 2 hours last night in unarmed combat. I dont wear any armour and I usually solo.

Learn to play a class before you cry about how weak it is. I for one will be a smuggler by sunday this week and will start working on TKA and pistoleer.

This is my first MMORP and I'm in it 'cause I'm a Star Wars fan. I'm still learning the basics of stats, hit-to-miss ratios and all that. I only became a brawler 'cause I'm a Trandoshan and I felt any decent lizard should be good up close. The first weekend I did pretty well. Could solo hard missions while my friends were getting buried. Now it's tougher, but I'm adapting. I did take up a rifle to flush out lairs, but I still go unarmed to kill. I have a good group, but I prefer to hunt by myself. Takes more skill and you do have to think about what your doing.

I'm hoping that the difficulty in being a successful brawler (unarmed specifically) will make commando, smuggler and TKA much rarer professions.

I don't think unarmed is useless, it just much more difficult and slower than other professions. Is that fair? No, but it will weed out everyone who needs a blaster to be effective. I don't need a rifle. I've just found that hunting is easier with it. I don't get 'mobbed' by MOB's at the lair and I have much less rest time so I can go on more hunts.

For the record I dont mind that unarmed is pwned by marksmen. Tis why I'm goin Rifleman too. But when I had planned to use rifle to pull an hurt them an then finish them off barehanded an then a 50% mob then takes 50% of my health off we got probs.

what server, what crafter, what are the stats? Please fill me in? Im on lowca, and I havent seen anyone selling knuckles. I may have to chase down a crafter, if so ill do it.

Hey SanTsu - FYI - I was beta 2 shuttle 1 and had no less than 3 different TK characters in beta plus the one I have now. Odds are I have a lot more TK experience than you do. Take a lesson from your name sake and don't assume.

It just ticks me off that some people can't just agree to disagree without calling each other 'cry babies', 'whiners', 'inexperienced', etc. We are all paying for this game and we all have a right to express our opinions about it here. Opinions about each other are probably best left out of it.
