Thread: Removal of VibroKnucklers has totally gimped brawlers!

I know this is a sensitive issue, so bear with me.
I started a 2Hand Sword character, and my friend had a wookie learning unarmed. While I progressed up the levels and he progressed up his levels I would upgrade my weapons as per certification in my line. His damage always remained the same as mine as he went up his line as well, and he did not use vibro knucklers. If he would have used vibro knucklers he would really be out damaging me, which would be a bit unfair as he could kill much faster and gain more exp in the same amount of time.
I know it must be horrible if you are used to using vibro knucklers without earning them (how I would love to use a 2 hand curved sword for full damage at the first level of my skills) but to be honest it is the right thing for the devs to do.

Sorry, but you must have been dealing with the worst weapon smiths on your server. This is just not even true.
I totally agree good work dev team. Lets all not talk to each other so we make brawler gimped then make all the starting mobs harder...
great work, really happy, YEAH! *insert sarcastic line here*
Here's the developer flaw in your idea Vanae they made it so you can no longer do missions to kill gorgs or krettles or anything that isn't conning white.
nice work great stuff really happy
I agree Lord. I just am not seeing the problem. I loged on last night, and all tho things were harder, they were not depressingly so.I can still kill whites, with very little HAM loss. I will be able to do yellows by the time my pet levs up.
I have just got to wounder what these people are doing wroung. I still use my Nuckles, but only because they make me swing faster. I dont were any armor. I did buy a Minx, and even as a baby he does as much dmg as I do, unless I zerk. I have two words for everyone out there. NOVICE MEDIC. Unless your in a group that has a medic, you need to take novice medic. Buy some stim packs, and you will have almost no downtime.
Leveling is supose to be a challeng. I think what alot of people are haveing a problem with is they are seeing too many numbers. They see that mob x gives 120 exp, and they need 5000 to get to the next lev, and they say oh my god this is going to take forever. If that is how you like to play, be my guest.
It's not that bad to get up to master unarmed now. I'm working up my unarmed since the patch. I'm already a novice fencer, decided to get master brawler and try it out. I'm up to expert unarmed, working on master unarmed.
My tactic is to fight a lot of weak stuff as fast as I can. Gorgs and worrts and the likeon Tatooine. I know it makes you feel like a weakling, but if you ever do any melee you're going to have to learn some humility anyway. ![]()
HAM costs for moves aren't too bad without VKs but I mostly use berserk instead of other moves because I'm wearing a bit of armor. Grab some armor pieces (make sure the kinetic resist is good, that's the melee damage from most creatures, the rest isn't crucial other than maybe energy if you want someprotection from blasters) with the money that you would have spent on VKs and do less moves, or find a medic that needs XP and have them follow you around with a boatload of stims.
I do have sympathy for those trying to get to novice TKA. That 125k IS a long way to go with no weapons. In my opinion, they should add VK cert back to master unarmed, if not to a spec before. And add another type of weapon to Novice Teras Kasi, like nunchaku or something.
Insanis, we're not talking about whether we can kill whites with a pet. Sure, I can whip out my scout blaster and lay waste to whites. We're talking aboutunarmed skill. Unarmed should be a viable skill all by itself, just likeany other combat skill...but it's not.At expert or master level, every other combat profession can several times more damage than unarmed does. And if you group withother combat professions, they're going to get several times more xp than a brawler because they are doingway more damage.
And it's 125,000 to getfrom MasterUnarmed to TKA Novice, not 5000.
No, It was never about sitting back and relaxing it was about not having to worry about an epiclife and death struggle with the same creatures that others pick off at a distance with a yawn
>I am having no problems without using my VK's, obviously all of you people are to used to sitting back and >relaxing while take a few cons on... time to really get in the game...
How about just play the game. Did over 40k unarmed experience to day , doing Diseased Bocatts and Zucca Boars. Will be TKA novice by the end of the week. I agree I could of done it in a day before the nerf, but it is not a big deal.
If you actualy read the correspondants notes, he suggested different levels of Vibro Knucklers, like other professions have. SOE is too cheap to do anything but nerf so nerf it is. But again, it is not really that hard even now, you just have to let go of what you were doing before the nerf and play with todays rules...
to answer this question:
Why in the heck would they put in VKs in the first place? If you want to wield a melee weapon, there are 3 other routes you can go!!!
EASY, because its easier to code a weapon than code unarmed combat raising with every skill level up to TKmaster. Personally SOE screwed the pooch on this one. They should have put the cert at expert or master unarmed not TKA.
I for one can take on blues just fine, not as easy as before but still fine. Whites however whoop me alot harder than they used to. I usually only live with about 25% health left. Also I find it better to use the nerfed knuckles over fists since in thier nerfed state I still outdamage fists. Sad
The biggest problem with the unarmed class is a good progression of damage. The closest analogy is forcing a novice marksman to use the CDEF pistol until they got to novice pistoleer. Needless to say, it is very slow.
The devs basically listened to only part of the request: certify vibroknucklers, but ignored the most important part, creation of a tier of weapons that can be used at different levels like brass knucklers and iron knucklers. As such, it has become much harder than it should be for a basic profession.
It is true that you can get xp with enough work given this change. The real question is whether this is balanced with respect to the skill progression of other basic skills. Having done crafting, scouting, medical, marksman and brawling xp, I have to say that it is probably the slowest of them all.
I don't ask for vibroknucklers at novice brawler, which was happening before. What I do ask is that the devs listen more carefully to our suggestions and understand the consequences of their changes. I don't think it is that hard to create an item in the database called brass knuckler or iron knuckler.
