Thread: Master Brawler .. why?
Ok so I was wrong. You don't need to master the Brawler profession to get Commando. You just need to become a Teras Kasi Specialist. After taking a good look at it last night, there is really no reason whatsoever to become a Master Brawler. The abilities do overlap between weapons. This is really making me rethink my strategy.
1st. The pikemens best weapon has horrible range modifiers. you hit about 50 % of the time with VL.
2nd. Skills will incap you sooner than any mob will due to huge cost.
3rd. and most important pikeman's sweep got nerfed, so now the delay for your next hit is the same as the delay of the target getting up. So using KD is pretty much just something to use in group or to run away.

I am a Master Brawler and almost master TKS. In my experience I have found there are5 good reasons for being a master brawler here they are
1. Rarity value I play on Eclipse have only met one other Master Brawler and I think he has traded the points in to become a Commando now, so when ever I am sitting in the Cantina (getting rid of the unavoidable Battle Fatigue I get for being up close and friendly with my enemies) people comment on my title with sayings like "Ooh havent seen anybody else with that title etc."
2. Loads of people ask you to train them in 1 Hand this or 2 Hand that so you get loads of trainer points for when you decide to become a Commando, Creature Handler or Bounty Hunter like everyone else ![]()
3. Warcry 2, Absolutely excellent skill, lets you draw aggro from loads of mobs you think are out of your cone effect so you can die spectacularly under a huge heap of aggro mobswhich gets them all nicely grouped for the Commando Area effect weapon.
4. Lunge 2 this is actually okay if you get close enough to a target (and lunge does get a slight bit of additional range) it does knock it down. The trouble is with VK's on the HAM Costsa killer quite literally. So would suggest you partner a Commando, Bounty Hunter and just use your bare hands so you knock the mob over and he kills it. (Alternatively I suppose he could just decide to solo it with startle or burning DOT but what is the point of being awesome if you dont have someone who is completely useless compared to you to show off in front of.
5. The additional attack speed and toughness is good if you are seriously considering using melee as your main attack form. However seeing as most of you didn't pick a stupid name like me have a sanity check and go and learn how to use a gun they can hit things while you run, target things that are a distance away from you, and will mean you can kill any melee person in pvp as long as you start at least 20m away from them.
Warning Berserk 2 is not good for the following reasons it increases your damage to such an extent that you will almost certainley pull agro which is not great when you have reduced defense values
It seems to last forever and I have found no way to cancel it so 2-3 minutes after a fight is finished you still can't sit down, Meditateetc to recover your lost HAM.

in the 1-hand weapon tree there is a dizzy. In the 2-hand weapon tree there is a posture change.
So you hit with your fast 1-hand weapon and have your 2 hander ready to sweep and damage.
Dizzy makes it so when they try to get up.. they fall back down. by the time they regain balance they are pretty much dead without being able to retaliate or run.
but i am going for master Brawler/smuggler becasue I have seen a few posts about smugglers gettting more melee type attacks and brawlers being beefed up.

INTIMIDATE2 = BEST SKILL IN GAME PERIOD.
Lunge 2 - okay, but HAM cost is too high for a 2-3 second knockdown...haven't tested a dizzy/lunge combo yet.
Berserk 2 - Lasts too long, has no effect on high end encounters
Intimidate 2 - Good skill, reasonable HAM cost, high fail rate. I haven't been able to Intimidate multiple mobs in the same battle, is that a limitation of the skill or do I suck?
Warcry 2 - Uh...use the toolbar space for something else
Yeah...so hopefully they improve the reward of Master Brawler in the future.

Great defence bonus and KD 2 + dizzy
It cost less point to make this great combo than master brawler
is it only for intimidate 2 ?
is intimidate2 cool in pvp ?

Im going for master tka and master brawler, and then dabble elsewhere(ch for now, but will give that up after tkm)
My reason for getting master brawler
Intimidate2- I use intim1 all the time and its very useful, but just doesnt last long at all, i cant wait for a superior version of that.
Rpvalue - My character is based off the old chinese fighting movies, and beingcompotent in melee weapons as well as tka master fits with my image.
Training - I like the idea of being able to train others in all melee fighting.
There is alot of wasted skill points in going for master brawler, but I have a strict image of my character, so it doesnt bother me to much to spend them.
I'm a Master Brawler and I can tell you if you choose melee as you main attack MB is the way to go. Int 2 last the whole fight meaning you dps goes up because you are not constantly reapplying it durring the fight. Lunge 2 is great for fleeing MOBs. The +melee +ranged def is great and a noticable difference. The Increased speed and acuracy will help you on your way to mastering you choosen field.
That being said, if you are not focusing on melee as you main attack then its not worth the points.
Look at it like this. In my case I choose Master TKA as my main form of attack. I spent the 42 points to master Brawler as opposed to picking up a ranged type of attack for this reason.
Master Brawler:
3tier 1 costs 2pts = 6
3 tier 2 costs 3pts = 9
3 tier 3 costs 4pts = 12
3 tier 4 cost 5pts = 15
total = 42
Any base ranged combat class
Novice Marksman = 15
1tier 1 costs 2pts = 2
1tier 2 costs 3pts = 3
1tier 3 costs 4pts = 4
1tier 4 cost 5pts = 5
total = 29pts
This leaves 13pts to spend in an elite class like pistol which is 6 of novice and 5 for all the tier 1
So the choice is Master Brawler or 1 fist tier box in an eliteranged form of attack.
I choose Master Brawler.
