Is there any reason to be a Master Brawler? I noticed last night that there are no advanced professions that require it so I was curiouswhetherthe skills thereare worth it.

only reason i can see is lunge 2 does knockdown instead of posture down. If you can find knockdown at range elsewhere( i think carbine has it) there is no use i see in it.

I am considering mastering brawler for Berserk2 & the additional benefits to unarmed combat. Would like to know if anyone has mastered it, how much of a difference it has made from without it.

This is not true. If you want to be a Commando, which is the only profession (I think!) that uses heavy weapons in the game, you must be a Master Brawler and Master Marksman.

This is what I might be going for, as the weapons you get to use just sound so cool.

Nope. Commando only needs master unarmed. Take a look at the brawling skill tree.

There are some pretty heftyAccuracy/Speed/Toughness bonuses for each of the disciplines at Master Brawler. You also get the second tier in all the novice skills there (berserk, taunt, intimidate, etc).

O_O Do you have ANY idea how good lunge2 will be? Think:

Lunge2, switch opponent, lunge2, switch opponent, lunge2, switch opponent, beserk2. ........

That incapacitates every opponent around you then allows you to begin slaughtering them on the floor.

not only this but i think that to have any hope to get close to a jedi prof. you may need to have mastery of the sword....and if not it is still cool to kill a thug with a blaster using only a dagger...hehe

Yeah, I don't think there is much reason to be a master brawler. Knowing skills with one handed, two handed, and polearm are pointless. I just think that switching from one melee weapon to another in battle is useless. I mean, you'ld start with your strongest melee weapon first, right?

I am doing it. For 3 reasons.

First off I am a TKA/CH and don't have enough skill points to go far in anything else except scout and I don't want to be a master scout.

Secondly, I'm thinking of being a general martial arts character and knowing a variety of weapons helps that out alot (for roleplay purposes). For practical purposes I want to be able to train a variety of melee characters because I want to start a melee PA and offering myself as a trainer will be an incentive to get members.

Finally, I just really really really want Berserk2. Berserk1 is one of my best assets as a TKA since I don't use alot of special moves (trandos have bad action scores and my vibroknuckler doesn't help matters). Berserk2 will be even better.

FluxHavoc:Why get to master brawler to be able to knock down enemies one at a time when you can get to Pikeman Expert Defensive Techniques and use Sweep 2 to knock them all down, and then use one of the 2 other area attacks they have? Granted, being able to knock someone prone with a lunge while they're running from you would be handy.

The cone effect on warcry2 may be useful, assuming your friends haven't ripped your enemy apart by the time that warcry lands and that the enemy's still all clumped up in front of you.

That is true, however you don't get the benefits of beserk 2 as well. I haven't seen the damage it does but I imagine it could be pretty terrific.

Oh and I do agree it's pretty pointless to master multiple melee weapons. Most of the skills are overlap anyways (you get to lunge with both swords or unarmed, big whoopdeedoo). There's not much difference in the lowerlevel brawler skill tree besides weaponchoice, which I think is completely dumb.
