Thread: Devs you like numbers. So here are some numbers as to why unarmed is so bad.

Tka is the best melee profession by far and the new tc changes seem to widen the gap between them and the other melee professions (no, tka is not the only one). TKAs do nearly as much damage as a swordsman, but they hit a good deal faster, are much better at taking damage and have good special abilities.

Ok Im working my way to becoming a TKA and while I agree that if unamred you should do less dmg., but in the same token why does it reguire 75k unarmed exp to get a IV cert it seems alittle high to me. And am I the only one that has notice a NOC can hit from 10 yards away but I have to be right next to them almost to hit them?

Unarmed ----- not armed,

Pistol --- armed with a weapon which fires bullets or laser bolts

Sword --- armed with sharp edged weapon

It is not bad , it is realistic ... How is this for an answer....

I think the discrepancy is due to armor-piercing levels of the weapons you used.

Your fists have no armor-piercing ability. The damage that you see in your combat window should match the damage over the mob's head, as long as it also has no armor. If it has light armor, you will see a reduced number over the creature's head; his armor reduces the damage.

VKs have AR1--so they do more damage, on top of whatever damage increases are spec'd on the VK.

Check the armor-piercing on the FWG5 and the sword. If they are AR1, they do additional damage against a creature with no armor. (I forget the numbers--maybe 25% or 50% more? You can search for this on the forums and get a good explanation.)

Also, look at the type of damage the weapons do, vs. the resists the creatures have. If they have high kinetic resists, you're not going to hurt them. (would apply to sword, too.)

As far as unarmed goes, I'm a Master TK now. I was a weakling through ALL of the brawler unarmed--experienced exactly what you're talking about. Even mid-way through TK, it still didn't seem like I could compare to gun-toters. The last few skill boxes before Master, however, makes a huge difference. Perhaps the "balance" here is that an unarmed fighter is relatively weak UNTIL hitting Master (or near-master). I can tell you that I thoroughly enjoy TKM--it made all the suffering worth it! Stick with it--and give up on comparing yourself to marksmen; it'll just drive you nuts. (Other melee classes seem to have lots of problems with them, so we're pretty much the uber-melee right now. Just gotta get the Devs to give us a bleed, and there won't be any need for the other three melee classes<said the spoiled TKA brat> JUST KIDDING!

Thanks, I just hope the devs show some mercy on us. Unarmed needs a boost to our damage real badly. I just hope they read this and see that.

That's a joke right?

They need to take points from TKA novice and shift them into the Brawler tree is what they need to do.. UNARMED doesn't need more damage, just the Brawler part of it..
