<~~~ Wookie Brawler,

Think about it in my shoes, I cant wear armor, I have to wear like pullovers and stuff, i havent found any yet with protective traits. I know im not out killing fambaa's or anything, But Im killing 10-20 creatures before i think about trying to set up a camp, and thats no gnorts either.

no armor, ive not found a decent armor vendor or smith

i seem to do ok without it, perhaps when i get enough money ill start experimenting with some of the low ham costing armor

perhaps the devs need to look into the armor issue, all i see are marksman running around in bone armor and the brawlers in nothing.

i usually run around in a vest, shorts and boots

Full ubese except for a mabari helmet (encumberance on chittin and ubese helms are far too high, and Rodians can't wear Tantel)..

I'm a novice chef with Mixology II though, Tatooine Sunburn takes care of all HAM costs except mind.. Will be deserts III soon and I'll get a tasty mind treat

Chitin is the best and cheapest gear to wear against melee. I never buy biceps and bracers if they are below 14% kinetic. As for the legs and chest atleast 18%... Remember to get it sliced by a master slicer. And you dont need to wear the helm If you have atleast 500 mindpool.

Armor is awful atm.

So I don't bother to wear any.

I'm TK, 1/2 a box until master and the TK specials suck up the hams like no other profession.

Why should I care to make my HAM cost 2-3 times as bad by wearing armor ?

I just think its funny (odd) that wearing no armor means you are a tougher fight...sooo Storm troopers are more effective without those shiney white armor pieces? How does your skin block a carbine round better than a chest plate??

Fact is, armor offers more negatives thanpositives fora number of reasons. That is the only reason this backwards kind of mentality has developed, especially among brawlers, who suffers from exceedingly high HAM costs. They wanted to give armors some positives and some negatives so that "you gave up something to attain the benefits of something else" to eliminate a status quo in needing to wear armor, but in the end, at least for brawlers almost the inverse is true. At least early on this seems to be the case. Its something that seems certainly reasonable on paper, but the implementation of it is just bad overall.

As a brawler I don't make many credits so i'm kinda pissed that I bought chitin and now it's been maybe 6 days and I've had to repair it all twice. My chest and leggings have poofed and I'm just wearing what's left until that goes the same route. After that I'm never buying armor again.

It's harder for me cause I'm a twilek. Brawlers have far better regen qualities.

Armor isn't really meant to be worn all the time.

An Ubese Chest piece is great against most Melee mobs...you get high Kinetic protection on your Body, which is where most Health hits come from.

When PvPing, or fighting mobs with ranged weapons, use a Bone Armor Head/Chest/Leggings with souped up Energy resistance.

Full sets of armor generally aren't the best way to go. I *love* seeing people run around with full sets of Composite...that just means they're 1 shot kills, as all that armor totally sucks away their HAM.

Just don't spam your specials while you're tanking. Armor only affects Secondary traits...Strength, Quickness and Focus only affect Special Move costs. Constitution, Stamina, and Willpower only affect Regen rates.

Basically, if you want to tank, Armor is gonna help big time, but you won't have the luxury of all your special moves.

See, this reminds me a lot of Everquest. In Everquest, Monks were damage machines...but tell a Monk to tank, and he'd laugh at you. Same with Rogues, and Rangers. They could dish it out big time, but couldn't take it. On the flip side, Warriors were massive tanks...they had huge Armor Classes, and even special skills to mitigate damage. However, they weren't the heaviest hitters.

Here, it looks like it's the same thing. Certain Brawlers can pump out heavy damage, while others are better off tanking. If you look at the Elite Brawler professions, some are Damage Nuts, while others are more Defensive.

It takes a strategy and a balance, really...you're never going to have it all.
