Thread: Why master brawler?

I know a lot of people who are primarily melee fighters like to master brawler as one of their professions, even if they don't use pikes.


My question is... Why master brawler? Lets say I am going to take all or some of the skills from fencer, TKA and swordsman but not anything from pikeman. Why do people still train all the polearm skills to become a master brawler, instead of spending those skillpoints in a different area?


Is warcy2 and intimidate2 so strong?

no. and yes. warcry is of limited usefulness... but stacking intim2's can be amazing.

master brawler ALSO adds (the SHORT list):

TKA: another 5 points of toughness
swordsman: another 5 points of speed
ALL melee: a 20m KD attack.

since swordsman and fencer don't have a KD attack, /lunge2 becomes pretty valuable. add to that improved tanking (with toughness on all melee types), and speed (swordsman can use EVERY boost to speed they can find), and master brawler becomes very tasty indeed.

master brawler is awsome for intimidate 2. this works great while fighting high level mobs, jst keep them intimidated!

Mastering Brawler is a must for a fencer atleast, it gives them a KD, intimidate 2 which is EXTREMELY powerful, warcry 2 when you are outnumbered.. all these makes it extremely worthwhile for fencer and all the other melee skills to.

Like the others said +5 toughness, 20m kd, warcry 2, intimidate 2 are all valuable, it cannot be stressed enough

Intimidate 2 is ALONE worth the master brawler. All the extra goodies toughen you up quite a bit . It's an investment well worth any melee players time.

I am not making these for PvP, its for PvE... It would be really cool if I could solo Krayts and NS Elders... Which I think could be possible with the last template. However, it will be a more specialzed thing... The first template is clearly the best close combat template, but what if the target has high kinetic resistance? Do I have any way of attacking then?



If you where gonna make a template for solo'ing higher end creatures on your own... Which would you chose?






If you want a nice pve template for killing NS and Krayts, I would recommend Master Swords, Master Brawler, Tka 4/0/03, Fencer 4/4/4/0 and the rest in medic. Medic is becoming more and more important when going for elders and such. May even want to do Doc. master swords, Master brawler. I say master brawler for the intimidate2 that is very usefull in high end pve, and of course the acc and speed doesn't hurt.

Yes what he said...... Medic is in absolute necessity and i would even go furthur to say that 0040medic is necessary to fight Elders.


Beyond that......be prepared to search far and wide or pay big money to get speed otehrwise killing the elder is possible but it will take you too long to make it worth it...be better off killing of the lesser NS in higher quantities..


to put this into context.....


I had a Swordsman melee defense stack with Mbrawler and medic2040.......with this you can tank Elders without tomuch trouble at all....the problem is you cant really dmg her too well......she is immune to kinetic so the scythe isnt any good and the Hammer(800 max dmg) is slooooow even with additional speed of Mbrawler. Basically what happened was I hit her in the head for 20 minutes straight (I timed it) and I wound up taking off a little less than 1/4 of her mind. I eventually had to run after my mind got in trouble even with my two +430 brandies i had to pop a muon fought her for the full duration of the spice. My armor took a fair beating as well.


My point is even with these spcialized tempaltes the fight is tough and long be prepared to fight this biotch for an hour. The terms "solo elders and krayts" seems to get thrown around pretty loosely on the forums.


To reitterate....if you dont have good medic kiss your arse goodbye. Those 100% mod stacks look nice on paper but....get the medic.

    take the first line of me4ditation in tka it help you take care of wound, poison and desease.

    and you can powerboost i say go for it
