Thread: Ok Intimidate2 and Warcry2 need to have an AOE effect instead of a cone effect.

The cone effect of Intimidate2 and warcry2 are useless. Mobs gather around us in a AOE effect and having these specials only affect a cone means that we still always only hit one with these specials.

When I'm fighting a group I have to individually target each mob and put intimidate on them because the cone effect does nothing when they gather around me in an AOE fashion.

I also agree. Intimidate I can live with as is, but your Warcry is seen and heard by all attacking you. They should all be rooted solid with fear. I do try to get Warcry off before I'm surrounded if my single pull doesn't work, but I'm not always successful.

Ditto on the AOE, the cone is not worth it. You can never line up mobs in a cone to use it, doesnt seem well thought out.

I'm hijacking my own thread here but I never had a use for taunt. . .what's it good for?

Taunt makes the combat music start!

Maybe 1 in 100 successful taunts (not counting the "You failed to taunt..." results) will make the targeted critter start attacking you.

My own opinion is that Warcry is already incredibly powerful. 20s of your opponent not doing anything is priceless. Personally I'd be more worried about a nerf than about having a chance to make it any better. That said, if it's a big enough issues for you guys, I can still put it in future Top5's, etc.

With respect to its present incarnation, I get a lot of use out of the cone. It has a very long range. Against non-aggro creatures I find the cone to be more useful than AoE would be for certain contexts. I am almost always able to line it up to get all my enemies in the initial shot. If your enemies will aggro then I do the following: I edge closer until one aggros and then I immediately run back. As my enemies come at me, no matter the distance between them they will all form up in a nice line. I keep spamming Warcry2 until it fires and then I turn around and fight. Certainly when your enemies are all circled around you have to apply individually, but then Warcry2 is a very powerful effect.

Works great for me. =-)

Taunt is good for slowing down those mobs running away from you...give it a try..it makes them pause for a second or two.

Ok, also add Taunt as an AOE. If I remember right it is only at the master level, perhaps make a taunt one and two and distribute it like Intimidate and WarCry are. Taunt one at the novice level only effects one target while taunt two, at the master level has an AOE.

Taunt is also VERY effective for protecting your Rifleman friend your hunting with when his conceal breaks.

I do agree with Gabe that Warcry is very powerful, even at novice level; however, I would prefer the AE to the cone for the simple fact of tactics and how I fight. The cone and distance are definetly usable, but the AE would be more effective for me.

Gabe, it was my understanding that I must be facing my opponent for Warcry to be effective. How can I apply it while running away from my target? I would think I need to create distance between myself, my target, his friends and the lair and then turn around and fight. This is my current technique, but lining up with his friends is rather difficult. Does Warcry automatically direct toyour target no matter which way your facing?

Yep. It will automatically direct the cone straight at your target. Then it will affect other targets based on that facing.

I too do not question the effectiveness of warcry. I just wish it was AOE.

I have no tactics. I go in both fists blazing
