Thread: 2 Ideas for an Elite Tanker, please comment.

My idea is to build a character template of a Tank, by this I mean a guy that can step in front of a Krayt Draon/Nightsister/Super-battle droid and survive for alot of time with the proper medical attention. The objective is to tank while in a group and have enough defenses not to be hopeless in ireegular PvP. My PvP skills and at par with a full grown toddler so I can only go up from there.


1st Template:


- Master Teras Kasi ( Powerboost, Insane speed, Good defenses, Knock-down attacks)

- Master Creature Handler ( I tank and my Pets hit, I know it's usually the oposite but pets have special attacks too and combined with mine I'm confidant we will soon have the enemy on it's back staring at the sky. This means you are always in your role as a tanker )

- 4/0/0/0 Fencer ( This is the defense tree, purely for the +54 melee and ranged defense this provides, You get an aread dizzy attacks as bonus if needed. )

- 1/0/0/0 Medic ( No doc watches your HAM bars as you do, plus life without medic is like no having a speeder, not worth living...)


One skill point left, this bothers me...


Melee Defense +131 , Ranged Defense +114, Dodge +15, Defensive Acuity +96. Not as High as can be but pretty high. Good enought for those ubber mobs to miss I hope so, with CoB you'll be a though nut to crack. Defe vs. not very high... PvP not sounding good...


2nd Template:


-Master Teras Kasi ( what can I say? Hitting with Roaring bantas and Flying Krayt Dragon kicks is cool )

- Master Brawler ( More Taunt, More intimidate, Lung 2 Attack, More defenses )

- 4/4/2/0 Fencer ( A step away from Master fencer, Pick up the defensive Mods, A lot of Dodge and Def vs bonuses )

- 0/0/4/0 Pikeman ( Why not swordsman and have more damage types? Not sure, but we are looking for defenses and this guy is better and we do gain the AoE Knockdown attack )

- 3/0/0/0 Scout ( Once more running fast is good, bnut could these 24 skill points be more usefull somewhere else? not sure )

- 2/1/0/0 Medic ( More healing than before, no scout and more medic... don't sound right. Plus for PvP running slow means dead you're melee you have to run after and not from.. )


Melee Def +151, ranged Def +129, Dodge +75, Defensive acuity +96, Block +85 , Def vs Kd +90 and Def vs posture change +100


Now these are Ubber defenses! You cap the melee def and rangd is pretty much there. Can you be Knockdown with +90 defense? This one is more solo but hell this is mre focuses and I'm sure much more efficient than the one before. The scout issue is thorny... Master fencer as well and have a stun baton?


Please comment my efforts at powerplaying, I'm sure I missed a lot so insult, make fun of me but say what and why my ideas are wrongOR praise and offer me yourcreds in gratitude

Master TK and Master Brawler with 80% kinetic composite is all you need to tank in this game. You'll get a total of 62 Unarmed Toughness which means 62% reduction to all melee attacks. With the 80% composite on top of that you'll get a totaldamage reductionof 92.4% for all kinetic melee attacks.


then if you want you can pick up Master Fencer for extra melee and ranged defense. Then pickup novice marksmen and Ranged Support II for the extra +4 ranged defense

Be aware that Dodge, Counterattack, and Block are weapon specific. A lot of Dodge will only help you while holding a 1H weapon or a pistol. Counterattack is only useful with 2H weapons and carbines. And Block only works with polearms and rifles. So while you are in TK mode (unarmed or using VKs), I do not think you will be benefiting from the Dodge modifier. Melee and ranged defenses andDefense vs. xxxx will work no matter what you are holding, but also note that defenses are capped at 125, so you can stack to higher levels, but only the first 125 will count.


Also, if you want to harvest, scout is necessary, but investing those points in something else may help you more. I had to give up scout to keep medic in my build, and while it is annoying not having the terrain negotiation, it does not hurt me enough to make me want it back except for the fact that I cannot help guildmates gather resources, I can only help them kill stuff.

medic, scout is a crutch. if you want a true tank, BF be damn_ed. Acting in a support role for your group against high end mobs, this is the way to go. Taunt, will keep it on you, while the CM's and the doctors do thier job.

current template triple master tkm,swordsmen,brawler fencer 3,4,0,0

dodge is not working with tkm or swordsmen dont waste points if its not your main weapon


killed 4 krates 2 large 2 small today needed 2 heals per large krate fights lasted a good 15 min each without ranged migitation I cant do these silly asss new space quests

No offense, as it sounds good in theory, but it's inherantly flawed. First off, Pikeman block is broken. Doesnt work. Second, the dodge is only factored in when you're holding a fencer weapon, in which case, you REALLY need to do master fencer. If you're looking for an ultra tank against the battle droids, Krayts, ect, then you have the wrong idea. Krayts are heavy armored. If you mastered TKA, you're screwed against a krayt. Fencer? Your best weapon is about 290 max sliced, no AP. Nightsister elders? nope, screwed again there too. Axkva, the NS leader? Not a chance. 100% kinetic resist bust that template to shreds. Scout? Meh.... terrain negotiation is a geat thing to have, but if you're a tank, you're not exactly moving, now are you? And for PVP, you're fighting on flat surfaces anyways.


If you're looking to be the ultimate PVE brawler, I'd look into Master pikeman, for the damage, master brawler, TKA 4004, fencer 2040, swordsman 4030, novice medic. You'll have 122 ranged D (the difference between that & 125 is negligable), 149 melee D (anything over 125 is capped), D vs dizzy 100, D vs stun 70, D vs KD is only 20, but it's not like you'll be dizzied that much. Food can boost the KD defense, but it's not like you wont get KDed even with 125. D vs blind is 60, and vs posture change & intimidate is 40. Now THAT'S a tank. Plus, stim Bs with novice medic. Add to the fact you'll have AP2 kinetic weapons, with an AP1 electric weapon as backup, an AP1 energy weapon if you're lucky/rich enough, and enough disease & poison DOT weapons to kill alderaan all by yourself.


If you're going PVP, I'd go master rifles, master pikeman, fencer 3040, medic 1100 But that's just me, and I'm not a PVP guy.

Try Either:


Master Fencer + Master TKA + 1040 pistol + medic


or


Master Swords + Master fencer + 4404 Tka + Medic

In your 1st template you have Melee Def +131 which is already beyond the cap
