Thread: What Do You Want the Next Brawler Question To Be?
I tried to get one of the correspondants to ask this question last time, but no one did. I think it really needs to be asked as it seems to be a bug and I hope it is not a game mechanic.
Currently hitting a target with consecutive posture down or knock down moves results in them standing up. In addition, a target that knocked down or kneeling will stand up if hit with a posture down or knock down, even if dizzy. This makes using knock downs and posture downs in groups and while lagged all but impossible. Is this an intended game mechanic and functioning correctly or is it an unaddressed bug? If it is a game mechanic, why does it still exist with the timers on these specials?
The only justifiable reason for knock down or posture down canceling as they currently do would be to prevent spamming the specials. The fact that the specials are on timers prevents this. Add in the fact that the "locks" of warcry and panic shot have been removed and there is NO REASON why posture changes should cancel each other, except for poor coding. Posture down and knock down are the only state changes that cancel when applied to a target that is already under the effect of one of those states.
Posture down and knock down should not make a kneeling or knocked down mob to immediately stand up as it currently does. This makes using the afore mentioned specials impossible if the player is lagged or in a group where someone else has a posture change.
My other question is in regards to dizzy.
Dizzy currently only works on NPCs and PCs. Using dizzy on any creature results in nothing more than than the icon appearing beside the creature's name. I read somewhere that four legged creatures are more resistant to dizzy, but this does not explain the fliers and two legged creatures. Is it intended that dizzy not work on creatures and is working as designed? If it is working correctly, what can we expect to make this ability useful against creatures?
Once again, I really think these questions need to be answered. They apply to almost all of the combat professions and are mostly independant of the combat balance.

Forgot one...
Why doesn't intimidate work on droids? (seemed to work on them in the movies)

Droids are supposed to have no sense of fear, hence intimidate doesn't work. Not to flame, but SWG doesn't follow the movies, see Battle Droids and Super Battle Droids for examples 1 and 2.

This seems to be the one in the lead at the moment.
If we, brawlers, ask the dizzy questions please see if you can get one of the other combat professions to ask the posture change question. I don't want it to slip through again.

I did dizzy a Tybis ( horse lookingcreature) on Yavin 4 tonight grinding fencer. I am not sure if it was a fluke or what, but I am going to do more testing and encourage others to do the same. Also I have no control on what other proffesions ask for their questions, so if you want another proffesion to ask that, you would be best to sell them on that on their forums.
Did the tybis flop around like NPCs do when they are dizzy or did they icon just appear on their bar? I have never gotten a creature flop after knocking it down, hence dizzy being useless. The proper test method:
- Apply dizzy
- Knockdown or posture down the creature.
- Count to 5 for the posture / knock down timer.
- If dizzy works, the creature will attempt to stand up and then fall down. If the creature stands up, dizzy had no effect, if the creature falls down, it will be due to the dizzy effect.
Dizzy effects a mobs chances to stand up. You can stand up while dizzy, it just reduces the chances of standing up successfully from each posture change. This is why hammering the stand key doens't let you stand up. Each time you hit the stand command, there is a chance you will fall down even though you are already standing.
Yeah,what Techboss said...
You can get dizzy to stick, but it doesn't seem to do anything.
I'll try that test tonight. Thanks for the detailed reply
