Thread: Good Idea?

Ok I got the game Friday after school cause my cousin got it and now I am hooked so I am not sure what is good and what isn't. I want to be a pikeman I know that for sure since I like the weapons but I don't just want to be a pikeman I want to mix. So my question is is if I become a master pikeman would a master rifleman also be a good idea or should I go for some other marksman profession? I just want to have something long range and then bust out into melee if I need to. My cousin and his friend are there but they are both artisans so is this a good combo to help them out on missions.

Also are my weapons good for being new to the game cause I am looking around for better weapons but there isn't much on the planet I am on. I have a metal staff and a tuskan rifle as my weapons. On my server the only better polearm is a Long vibro axe but I don't want to travel to a different planet just to get a weapon enless it is really good.

Rifleman is currently a very very good ranged profession. Both Pikeman and Rifleman only really reach their true effectiveness at master, but a rifleman is a very good combat profession, and, most of us here are biased toward pikeman. You'll hear some negative things about pikeman, but it is a very fun and enjoyable profession, despite it's issues.

As for your weapons...what planet are you on? You should be able to find any weapon you wish on the most populated general planets, i.e. Tatooine, Corellia and Naboo. A metal staff should do well up until polearms II, where you should get a basic lance until you reach Novice Pikeman. As the FAQ and other various posts hanging around this library of pikedom say, the LVA is best used after you get Support II in the pikeman tree.

I am up on Naboo right now. About to get up to the third part of the polearms under brawler. All weapons I really want are on tatooine but it seems like a waste of time to travel to other planets just for a weapon since I would want to come back. But I will buy a lance and a few other things and go to tatooine so it isn't a wasted trip.

If you're on Naboo, go to Theed and look around the houses South and North of the city, or ask for a weaponsmith's waypoint nearby. You will find whatever weapons you want, no need to go to Tatooine, most likely. Moenia is also another spot to check, after Theed. If you're just looking on the Bazaar, you won't find any good weapons, the bazaar cap is 3000, and most LVAs and VLs sell for 10k or so.

first of all i would like to say that no, i am not a chef in real life (like most of the people on this board seem to be) heck, im only 17. second of all, i wanted to know if i would be able to make anything good with just the "expert bartender" skills. i just want to be a bartender as a side job (im also going master 2hand swords) so i can make some $ and to buff myself without using dru... spices. right. i didnt say anything... but i was thinking "tatooine sunburns, baby!" but they dont seem that hard to get. any thoughts? and yes, i know the chef is getting revamped. i just hope the bartender title stays in there!

Well, the title has remained. Sunburns are now gone. The mixology branch has a lot of useful drinks, but right now there's nothing that leaps out saying "people will buy me by the truckload!" (well, maybe Vasarrian Brandy). We may need to see how well these do once the revamp hits live (Thursday, barring emergencies)to really determine what's popular. That might take a while, especially if people are sticking to their stocked-up Angerian/Sunburn/Bivoli, or makingjudgements on the new foods without trying them out. At first glance, nothing really compares favorably with pre-patch foods.

And to do well in chef, you'll want at least Cooking III (Cooking IV if at all possible), especially for the upper-level food/drinks. Assembly skill and experimentation makesa very noticeable difference in the results.

How about if jedi got TEFswhile they wear their robes and/or lightsabers, and they are instantly removed the second these items are un-equipped. This would prevent the Padawans from strutting their stuff in public, as they should not be doing. And it allows the Knights to do it because they are already Overt.

What do you think of this? It would make Padawans be more cautious and make other players happy because they wouldn't see so many Jedi and ruin the experience for them.

even 5km from the nearest city on endor I get people driving by me now and then. back in the old system if they were imps they'd try to take me out, but I had armour on so I could defend myself.

now? now a master fencer can drop me in 3-4 seconds. no thanks. no tef unless I get my armour back.

Oh yes this is true I forgot about that

How about if its in city limits, then you get a TEF. I think I actually remember someone said this earlier now that I think of it. I think its a good idea.

yeah I think it's an okay idea, only one thing though, I think you should be able to have a lightsaber equiped but hide that it's equiped. that is, when you "sense" that somebody is going to shoot you, you draw your lightsaber and deflect the shot. most jedi keep their LS equiped constantly because they NEED to deflect that first fireKD coming from a BH.

not a bad idea.....but i dont recall the rest of the community paying my SWG bill every month

so why should any other Jedi leave themselves more vunerable than they are now, just so someone wont cry about a Jedi walking by?

they shouldn't.....

I dont agree with the showboating, but anyone who gripes about seeing a saber or robe are those same people (months after launch) wondering if they would ever see one.

Well Im a jedi, have been for 6 months. It takes away from my experience as well. When people found out that I was a jedi (not by showboating, but by driving by or such), they were happy. They'd be like thats awesome Ive never seen one before, etc....Now they are all like great, another jedi.

Not only that, but it adds to the danger of being a jedi. Its not supposed to be a cake walk, and I think this added danger makes it more fun

there has to be a happy medium i agree that something has to be done about the # of jedi just walking around in there robes but once again it is not out fault all the jedi's abilitys should be innate such as the force regen the robes give and any protection they may ad. as for lightsaber i would love a hilt to hang it upon and hide inside a duster or smock
