Thread: So.. are you going to run?

So.. i'm sitting here bored, its almost halfway to 10am, and i'm still not passed out... But i was curious, just how many of you will stand and fight a Jedi, Face to Face.

Meaning within 5meters and without running to kite/root/snare.

I'm sure at this point you're saying, but i'm a ranged player, if i'm at a range, you can't do your damage to me..ect. My question is why be disappointed when someone else runs, when you have no intent on fighting them, in a stand still, face to face fight. Knowing you are going to start kiting right after the first shot, unless you happen to be a Melee BH.. (don't think those exist anymore..?)..Thus making it impossible for said target, to even damage you in the slightest. (assuming they had any intent on fighting to begin with) And will end up with them also running the opposite direction, in burst..or force run. and possibly even cloaking, so they can laugh at you as they walk away.

So, how many of you would fight your mark face to face if, he wasn't going to run? Neither of you moving, just going at it with your best.

Because that defeats the purpose? Yes, we are ranged and yes, jedi are melee. Advantage: jedi. Sounds like you are just looking for the easy win.

Kiting is not running, it's strategic repositioning. I have never, nor will ever, attempted to "get away" to save my own arse once the fight started.

It's the Jedi who are the cowards.

Now go away, Jedi Troll.

Wrong. I'm not worried about my well being, because i'm not stepping into a fight i can't win. Answer the question. This isn't about advantages or disadvantages, this is about if you are man enough to face the opponet on equal grounds. (equal meaning they can actually fight back). Pistols were made for close range, carbine, still works rather well at close ranges, as does Rifles. with the lovely invention of accuracy food, the difference between range means absolutely nothing.

So yes or no Tristis?

Cphop- Lol, uhh don't know anything about rifle slinging jedi, guess those are the one's that aren't finished with their template.

Braxius-Sounds to me like you are the coward. Kiting is a strategic tactic, only to the person using it. As is running away..(strategic retreat anyone?)making them.. what.. the same thing? correct? yes i think so. So take your own advice and "go away troll".

Most BH's Ibeat ran from me. *shrug* I didn't bother chasing them as it could have been an ambush.

Spoken as a jedi: Kiting is a sane tactic for any ranged player.

Not all of us are cowards, maybe a bit trollish but not cowards

Yes range means something. It's our template as yours is melee. Either way someone is not getting equal ground.

But since you are adamant about knowing if I run or not, no, I never run. I'll take my death. As a BH/pistol (year and half now, not a silly respec) I stay close enough as it is. I take my knocks.

You just sound more like you want rifleman off your back so you can stop running.

I"ve NEVER ran, and i haven't lost a fight yet. Hell even when i use to play as a Rifle i stayed at point blank, i suppose i just have more balls then the one's that prefer not to get hit at all.

Even with food/spice Melee and Ranged are not designed to be equal grounds at close range. At close range Melee should win asshould Range should win from a distance. This was thewhole point of theCU to balance the professions and create diversity within groups.I know a few TKA/Fencer/Swordsman temps that cankill a Jedi toe to toe but since the Melee Hunters are gone I guess you are safe from those temps. The Ranged Hunters are about first strike and attempt to control the battle.

Very true. i'm not exactly sure if the CU..succeded in its "balance". But that brings around the other question, why get so mad when a Jedi dashes off, because he can't fight back?

edit: yay for sleepy typos'

I don't get mad when a jedi dashes off, I'm used to it. I'll just sit and read a book and wait for them to get the nerve to fight, win or lose. Half the time I'll promise a no db just so we can get a fight.

Not that my stalking to get a fight will really matter now. 52k for a mission now..bah...not even worth my time.
