Thread: REALITY CHECK
Something all the people incessantly whining about here seem to have forgotten: BALANCE.
People keep whining about how they can't function with only 1 uber pet out at a time as a CH... give me a break. Every character has enough skill points tomaster 2 classes with some change left over.
Those of youcomplaining about how everyone elsewill bebetter than you because of the "60 levels out"limit... what are you doing with your other 100 or soskill points? You can master nearly any elite combat class as well.
Some people are complaining about how they can't be a Bioengineer and a CH and still fight effectively - well no kidding! You master an artisan class and a support class and complain that you can't fight... and expect to be felt sorry for?
The sad truth is that the CH class is NOT an elite combat class, it's a support class. Pets support their masters... their functionality is limited to that. Letting the class stand at the ability to have an entire posse of uber pets out and at the same time have Master Elite combat skills usable seriously makes no sense. The CH class has been completely out of balance, and because too many people are no longer going to be able to play it the way they have gotten used to, they're all crying that the class is being destroyed, broken, etcetera.
The CH class CONSIDERING WHAT SKILLS CAN BE ADDED WITH IT is currently ridiculously out of balance. The number 60 may be too low... I don't know. I'd sure like 100 or even 80, but I'm not holding my breath.
Get over it or get used to it - or quit. The choice is yours. Also, while you're complaining about the tough life of a CH, consider that it takes 5 times longer to master a combat profession than CH... and most if not all of the other combat classes have nerfs coming as well.
I completely agree that a lot of dumb things about the class need fixing, like the many, many bugs and inconsistencies. However the "have my cake and eat it too" attitude of many on this board makes me embarrased to have my "Novice Creature Handler" tag displayed over my toon's head.
And yeah, if you're wondering, I'm:
Creature Handler 4/3/2/3 atm (and hit Novice a WEEK ago... did this WITHOUT exploiting anything, just a lot of hard work)
Rifleman 0/0/1/0
and some other various Medic and Artisan skills.
Also, you would be wise to consider the fact that there's a whole server full of people to group with, on the frustrating occasion that the game throws something at you that you actually can't solo.
Feel free to flame me now if it entertains you... it won't affect my day in the least. It won't affect the proposed changes to our class either.
There are others of us that want to be a CH *first*, and given that the reqs for CH are twice what they are for rifleman (or pistoleer or TKA or whatever) there's no reason to believe that CH was SUPPOSED to be a support class. No designer has said that CH was intended as a support class, so I don't know what makes you think you can speak for them.
All in all, that makes your post just one more example of a rifleman whining that CH is too powerful.
Next?
No... look again at my stats:
CH 4/3/2/3
Rifleman 0/0/1/0
I am first and foremost a CH. I just saw which way the wind was blowing, and decided to pick up some combat skills, since I want to engage in combat, rather than whine that I can't play the game MY way vs. the way it's actually set up to be played.
? my template allows for
Master Creature Handler
Master Rifleman
some points left over for Medic skills.
...next.
Lol, look at the number of posts on his name. I'd really like to know how long this guy has been playing, and playing MMORPG's in general.

Lol, yes, it does. It makes all the difference in the world. Just the same as it makes all the difference if your brain surgeon has only 4 months of experience doing brain surgery versus a surgeon who has been doing brain surgery for 20 years. The more experienced you are, the more knowledge you have about a subject and it's inner workings. Without it, you are simply spouting junk.
That's how experience works, in real life and in game.

Few things:
1) Doesn't change your mindset, which is Rifleman first, CH second.
2) Please show me your "proof" that CH is a support class. I've pointed out that since it has a higher pre-req than most "elite" combat classes, it's unlikely that it's the "support class" that you think it is. Do you have anything other than the fact that this idea supports your play style to make us believe that you're right, and therefore the rest of your post is valid?
3) So the argument is now back to what it always was - is the game design better pre or post nerf? You can say others are whining to get it their way (pre-nerf), but if you go that tact, which you have, what that means is that YOU are whining to have it your way (post-nerf). Since this is YOUR post and your thread, I'm asking you for supporting evidence - of which you seem to have none.
LOL - I am not obligated to "show you" anything, other than my opinion, which I already have.
Brain surgery? Far from it. Lighten up.
This has been quite entertaining, as expected. look at the post title - it's that, and nothing more. Take it or leave it, it's worth the same as YOUR opinion: nothing, in American dollars.
