I was looking over the various marksman trees (im not a pistoleer myself) and saw an ability called "stopping shot". It's lvl 3 pistol stances and grips
This powerful shot has the ability to stop an onrushing attacker in his tracks by killing or incapacitating him with one shot.
Seems pretty powerfull... is this true? Does anyone have this skill yet?

Does anyone actually have it? What does it do? I'm torn between that and Body3.

I am looking for info on this skill from people who have it as to how much damage it does.

I have read all the threads on the board that came up on search.

It is my understanding that the special does not stun or knockdown or change the posture of the opponent, it is a high damage special and because of that is likely to be a finishing blow ( not deathblow ), thus stopping the opponent dead in their tracks, likely incapacitating them.

What I'm wondering is, how much damage does it do, and how consistantly does it do that damage?

Is it worth replacing bodyshot2 as my main heavy hitter special?

Are the ham costs low like bodyshot2?

Does it have a long delay?

Thanks

Stopping Shot is an excelent ability!

Ever since I got it, I have used it more often then body shot 3. It has about the same delay (possibly slightly longer) then body shot 3, takes the same HAM cost, however it hits alot harder. I typically hit for about 600-1000 with stopping shot, where as body shot typically does from 200-500. The only draw back to stopping shot is that it can target all 3 HAM pools. I will usually use stopping shot until my target is at about 1/4 health then I will switch to the less damaging body shot to finish them off.

All in all, stopping shot is the most damaging attack we get as pistoleers as far as I know. I havent hit master yet (I have 2 boxes to go in marksmanship) so I dont know how those special abilities are. Since the ratio of hits to the HAM tends to favor health, it is a great addition to our skills. I have noticed approximatly a 50/30/20% ratio to hit the HAM bars (50% health, 30% action, 20% mind) however this is just pure observation and not based off of any mathmatical formula or logs. This varies alot, sometimes itll seem all you hit is action and mind, other fights you'll hit all health, but on average this is what I have observed.

I hope this helps some of you aspiring masters

Ok,

so it was an npc that did it and some of them have better stuff than we will ever be able to use, BUT, this particular *cough* Dark Side Savage, used his Stopping Shot on me, and hit me for 3095 damage. To date, that is the highest amount of damage I've seen anyone do with a weapon *cough* besides a light saber.

Ohka

PS No, it wasn't a PC usingthe light saber, it was a dark jedi on naboo

Strongest attack I've ever seen would be "Advanced Strafe Shot". 11,000 damage in one use heh.

Stopping shot is worst then a BH's knock down basicly.. 1 Shot can do up to 600-800 damage .. So if a pistoleer uses Meele Defense Then StopShot There Opponent is pretty much down for the count.

Ahem...Stopping Shot is random HAM damage. I have a FWG5 that does 43-170 dmg. I have seen as low as 600 dmg from stopping shot and as high as 1500 dmg. It is very slow firing so Fan Shot is better (so I hear) for doing more total dmg. But for that one shot kill I see lots of 1000 dmg shots. Great for killing unarmored foes in PvP.

I have yet to see a stopping shot do less than 1k damage. Just gotta get a good pistol (I use a scatter 124-197/2.2) I constantly one shot in duels. but in pvp w/ bounty hunters I start off with ranged knockdown (since pistols are faster than carbines) and then finish it w/ a stopping shot or what ever the situation calls for.

Too bad pure pistoleers can't use scatter pistols. My server still hasn't seen the best quality resources for scout or FWG pistols, I think. The one DX2 that I saw had a max damage of 100, and that was sliced.

So my stopping shots do anywhere from 400 to 1k damage, with a scout blaster that has a max 152 damage. Fan shot is probably more reliable for weaker weapons, but I agree that a great pistol makes stopping shot a good choice for one shot kills.

I've done 1200dmg stopping shots with my 51-203 FWG5 1.9.

I've pretty much ditched last ditch and use Stoppingshot over it. Pretty funny.
