Thread: Battle droids
Ok, I'm learning new stuff about BH everyday.
Battle droids, what exactly do they do? Scout, Fight, both? Also, how many are we allowed to have? Tell me one and I'll go balistic, especially since I see creature handlers running around the city with 4 rancors as pets.
I've almost got my master marksman and master scout done and also have eng4, survey4. I see some of you doing novice carbineer or pistoleer as well. I'm just a little curious the skill point route some people are taking to be a good BH. Can anyone help?
Unfortunately, no. There are no Battle Droids for us. You don't get the Droidekas at all (the rolling ones from the movies), nor do you get the Battle Droids or Advanced Battle Droids.
We have two that are combat-capable. The DZ70 is capable, but absolutely worthless; it is weaker than the weakest monster and will go down in one hit. The other combat droid, the Probot, is a bit stronger. However, it has been nerfed heavily recently, and is about as good as a Novice Marksman with a CDEF Pistol. I guess the extra damage can help, but don't expect it to be a powerful Bodyguard to shield you from damage.
It seems a little odd that they're not included, but for one maybe they'd have had to make them too powerful. After all, two of them in Episode I were able to stalemate two Jedi. And of course, by the time period of the game, that design is at least 40 years old.
I've also wondered if there's some as-yet-unknown continuity reason for not including more combat-oriented droids. The devs had to get content approved by Lucasfilm. In a way it kind of makes sense that Palpatine would outlaw battle droids after getting his clone army established. Battle droid armies were the tactic of the Trade Federation and the Separatists, and furthermore, the ability to construct a droid army would be one of the few things that could pose a threat to the Emperor's power. Droids follow their master, whoever that may be. Clones are as compliant as droids, but can be mentally influenced by use of the Force, which Palpatine does, giving him an advantage. Kind of a stretch, and we'll have to wait the better part of a year to find out, but I wouldn't be at all surprised if Palpatine makes droidekas and the like illegal in Episode III.
Bah. I guess it's alright to have creature handlers running around with three rancors (which does not fit in with continuity) but it's NOT realistic to have a droid engineer that make make or fix droidekas up.
Continuity has nothing to do with this game. There's nothing in SWG that fits in the continuity of the SW universe.
I say we need Combat droids !
I hoe they do add more Droid design to DE profession. As it stand right now why would anyone want to go into the profession. There really is no Market for them since they been nerf. I seen poor abandon Probot all over the place!
Come on Dev let get the DE profession in demand again!~
