Thread: Weapon Speed question
I saw a post about what weapon speed bonus give but I can not seem to find it
Can someone explain weapon speeds for me and what exactly does a +20 speed give
Some forumers claim to have tested this and the weapon skill bonus equals a direct percentage reduction to your weapon speed. I.e. 4.0s weapon and +20 skill means you fire every 3.2s. Weapon speed is however capped at 1s (a fact from the DEVs).

not exactly true...
max. weapon speed is capped at 1s. however, the adjusted weapons speed is kept for special move calculations. so, if you have an adjusted weapon speed of 0.6 with your blaster, your regular attacks are at 1s (the cap). but, if you use a special with a 3x time mod, you attack at 1.8, not 3.
watch a master rifleman shoot headshots with a T21, sometime. the weapon speed is 7+, and ours can shoot them very close to the speed cap.

What ever you speed bonus, your weapon speed is lowered by that percentage. So at level 4, +80 speed, you're 80% faster with any weapon of that type. Which means with pistol you can shoot most all of your specials at or near 1.0 second speed.
Erm, you're not 80% faster, your weapon speed is reduced by 80%, which I guess makes you way more than 80% faster.
Just curious.
Where do you guys get these numbers, figures, %, etc? Is it a fact that devs told you? Did you test it w/ a stop watch? If so, how is it true when there is a lag between server and client?

Its funny to see the number crunchers out there.
Really all you need to beable to observe is that with BH Pistol 3 I shoot so fast with my scatter that its like a never ending stream of death.
Faster = better.
Skep
(WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) - (WeaponSpeed * SpecialDelayMod) * (PistolSpeed/100)
And if result < 1.0s , result = 1.0s
Basically, +20 speed means a 20% reduction in speed, and you will never fire faster than one round per second. +100 or more gives you 100% reduction, so you'd fire once per second.

I agree with faster = better.
I hope for speed slices on my weapons because hitting more often is almost always better than hitting for more damage, but less often. My LLC is sliced for speed and (when it hits...) it's quite nice. When a baddie gets close i still whip out the scat and blow him off his feet.
speed = better

I would like to clarify what I meant earlier. Faster = better as far as the speed skill mod. "More is better" should have been what I said.
There comes a point when getting a speed slice on your pistol really is the wrong way to go. Once you get under that cap, more speed doesn't make any more difference. If you shoot as fast as possible, why worry about shooting faster.
That said, I'm not sure what kind of stats you are able to get on a scatter pistol in your galaxy, but I'm pretty confident anything under a 2.0 speed would not really require a speed slice. In the case of maxed out speed, definately go for damage.
With weapons like LLC, I definatly want a speed slice. 400-800 at 3.5 is much more than 500-900 at 4.5.
Also, if you have the inclination, go buy some crates of damage powerups from a weaponsmith. +30% damage is pretty significant. It can make alot of difference on that scatter. Wish we had powerups for heavy weapons.
Above all, experiment with it. Find your balance.
