Thread: Possible Solution(s) for New Boss Marks (please read and respond)

Included in Publish 24 was a revamp for "boss" mobs, i.e. Night Sisters, Krayts, Kimogilas, DJM, Gorax, etc. As a result, our Boss NPC bounties were revamped as well. These can be identified by the Double-Gold-Chevrons ( << >> )surrounding the name above the NPC's head


For clarification, there seems to be three different kinds of boss marks


  1. Normal regeneration rate and increased damage (800-1000 damage point range before Advance Duelist Stance Mitigation)

  2. Normal regeneration rate and negligible damage (less than 50 points of damage per hit)

  3. Increased regeneration rate and increased damage

Type1 I'm perfectly fine with. They do hit hard, but keep in mind we have Duelist Stance for a reason so don't be afraid to use it


Type2 needs to be removed. There's absolutely no reason for master level hunters to fight such a mediocre opponent


Type 3 is where the problem seems to be. Some hunters feel that the bosses regenerate health faster than damage can be dealt. Other hunters feel that the bosses represent a conquerable challange... but that the increased damage and life-span inflicts more decay to equipment than can be justified by a 32,000 credit bounty. Therefore, I've come up with two possible solutions to our current situation:


Solution A) Decrease health regeneration rates for Type 3 bounties to reflect that of Type 1 bounties


Solution B) Leave Type 3 bounties as is. However, increase all boss bounty payouts to help mitigate the additional wear-and-tear of equipment. The payout would be greater than elite bounties but less than PC bounties to allow players to differentiate between the three. The exact increase is debateable


If Solution B is implemented, the BH TEF would have to ensure that only thehunter with the active bounty could interact (attack, heal, etc) with either side. This would prevent loot exploitation. On a side note, the loot tables would stay unchanged; as the increased bounties for Bosses would equal the increased difficulty


While I have everyone's attention, I'd also like to add thatpoliticians should be able to place Inv 3 level Spy-Net Operatives in player cities. This doesn't doesn't really have anything to do with the problem at hand, but I thought it would make a nice pork-barrel amendment

Good thoughts. I think my favorite solution is B. I know some BH's are able to solo them, and they shouldn't get their content removed because they're beating me down. It sounds like I would still be able to check the board and pull my standard 30k bounties and get something that's more of my skill and equipment level, so everyone wins.

I'd be OK with A, too, it's just that some people are able to work these super-elites down and they should get to keep their challange if possible.

great propositions, and the remove spynet for master bh is my favorite hehe..suggest better loot for the high level mobs too please

I cant comment about boss mobs.


The risk verus rewards doesnt appeal to me. Even if more credit were given it wouldnt really make it more appealing.Most of the servers are so inflated thateven the 200k from Jedi bounties are really not worthwhile.


Maybe if they dropped some kind of token that I can turn in for rewards. 25 tokens for weapon or armor schematics, 50 token for random CA/AA, etc(just throwing idea out). Something that I can work towards without the randomness of gettinga jar of bugs.


As for the spynet. I agree. During the first few levels of investigation it immerses you into the world of BH'ing. Making you feel like you're actually a bounty hunter doing detective work, tracking your mark.


But after you reach the master level you've done it so many times it loses any magic it had previously. After that point it's just fluff, and BH only really go through the motion because they have to.

I would go with option B, makes for good content and challenge, although it has to be asked how often would BH take on this challenge, once youve done it once, will you keep coming back? will the knoledge you are doing it all for a jar of bugs put people off repeating the feat?

Sounds good except for the Spynet amendment. I think obtaining a bio-sig is still an important part of the mission. If the reason for removal is to speed things along, what good is it if the mission goes incomplete for <insert bug here>?


If the reason is to remove lag from specific areas like Kaadara, how about adding more master-level operatives on the map or add new ways of obtaining bio-sigs. I mentioned a few months back some ideas for doing this, such as uploading bio-sigs from a med-center terminal.


Or perhaps instead of an operative, give a waypoint to the NPC that 'issued' the mission, and obtain the bio-sig from them.

You are making the assumption that there are 3 distinct types of bounties. While your solutions on the matter are sound, I would be more interested to know if the the developers intended this causality, or if it is an unintended bug produced from the coding changes in the npc combat system. Has there been any developer comment one way or the other on this issue?

SIGN... as a MBH, I should not have to always fly back to kaadara ... what ever city Im in I should be able to hit a terminal and grab another mission and go.
