Since we do not have the 65m+ range of our MR counterparts we dont have the ability to sneak attack as well as they and perhaps carbines do. My attacks are usually known by the jedi before I can hit them so it gives them a few seconds to prepare. What tactics have yall found useful as a pistoleer?

You do have 65 meter range. Just grab a good rifle and use that while he's running up to you, then switch to your pistol. You won't have all the speed and accuracy of a master rifleman, but you can get some free shots in before he's in range. Remember, weapons aren't all based on profession anymore. There are some good rifles that anyone can use if you're above a certain combat level, like the trandoshan hunting rifle.

You can get up to an additional 15 meters of range with both ranged cybernetic arms.
Attacking from 50M instead of 35M is really nice with a pistol, and you get the same range addition with a carbine or rifle also...

I am MBH, MPist, rifles 4400.
This is what I am finding lately. Simply not able to damage fast enough to keep up with the healing. Ican hit ahrd with the initial shots from cover but when thats over its not easy.
Problem is I love pistols, I have a nice DE-10 and a just short of damage and SAC cap feather FWG5. I hardly use anything else other than my ALR lately.
I think I may have to use that token respec while I still have it

I've hunted, dueled, etc.. plenty of Jedi with pistols, and my damage output is right on par with the best carbines out there...Everyone needs to jump off the rifleman bandwagon..It's not the only template to kill Jedi with. Spend some money on an "end game" pistol, and then spend some time learning pistoleer, and I guarantee you your Jedi kill count will go up.

While I only have 27 Jedi kills, all of them have been solo and all of them have been as a MBH/MP temp.

i stand behind my statement, what server do you play on, if i've got an active charecter there, i'll let you shoot at me for 10 minutes with that template while i just sit there.. you won't kill me.
*edit* my comments are in regards to full template jedi, Pistoleer works moderately well at stopping low level jedi from running away, but i'd personally prefer to two-shot them with a rifle. I'm sure you can kill some newbie jedi with this template, but you can do that with any MBH template.

You don't understand the POWER of the pistol! lol
I play on Intrepid. I hunt any Jedi on the terminals including full temps. And I do it all with a pistol.
Besides, dueling, like you're asking to do, and Bounty Hunting are two entirely different things. An effective "bounty hunter" can kill any jedi, with any weapon, if his or her strategy is executed properly. Now, if you want to take your foods, put on your PSG, get ready, etc. for a duel, then perhaps you will beat me...But you know what else? I could care less..LOL
Personally, I play pistols because I enjoy it...that's all. I think it's time for other people to jump off the rifleman bandwagon. FOTM 4TW!

I enjoy Pistols as well and wished to do something other than the cookie cutter FOTM template. Was actually looking for differant types of tactics other MPs used to get the drop on jedi since we do not have the same tactics as MR.

a smart jedi always has a PSG equiped, why wouldn he? most PvE targets won't even trigger it, and food doesn't take much time at all, if you like i'll take them after the duel starts... i'm tempted to make a charecter on intrepid real fast and show you, lol
