Thread: Hey Tanks....I have a REAL problem with this....

As you can see from the screenshot...a root had been applied, and although it is flashing, the effect should STILL prevent the Jedi from moving....even in a speeder.

A rooted Jedi traveling in a speeder

In this NEXT screenshot we see that the Jedi is STILL in the speeder when the root expires...
My question is this: How did this Jedi travel 28m in a speeder while rooted?

This is the 3rd time this has happened

I hold off on using Stopping Shot for this very reason. Offering a ride to a Jedi under attack is VERY common, so it only makes sense to only use this special attack when it would be most valuable.

Right....but I have rooted a Jedi trying to get away like this before, and it will sometimes pull them right out of the speeder, the key word is sometimes. I do try to use KD, but the cool down for both specials are long enough that once I CAN get a Jedi out of the speeder, another quick invite, and the jedi is back in the speeder again. My question is this:

Should a Jedi be able to move in a speeder while rooted? Opinions on this issue are great, but I directed it towards Tanks because I was hoping for a clear answer.

Just before this happened, I saw the speeder coming close to the Jedi to offer the ride...I waited until the Jedi was in the speeder, then used Underhand shot for the KD, the Jedi WAS pulled from the speedeer the first time. The next special I used was Stopping shot to root the Jedi, I didn't want the speeder to simply be able to re-invite the Jedi, and leave me behind waiting for my speeder to generate.

Now I know both Underhand and Stopping shot will "pull" a Jedi from a Speeder, however, if this (what's shown in the screenshot) is working as intednded, and it's still very possible to invited a rooted Jedi into a speeder, then I must change my tactics to WAIT for each invite to be accepted.

Jedi in speeder,
Underhand
Adv Crit
Torso

Jedi in speeder,
Stopping shot
Body Shot
Adv Crit
Torso

Jedi in speeder again
Wave bye-bye

I just use underhand, if its his vehical i'll blow it up, if not, it usually keeps going a good 50 meters before the driver relizes he lost his passanger, leaving you plenty of time for the cooldown on underhand to wear off again.

Otherwise, just burstrun, you can damn near keep up with those slow vehicals and jedi cannot heal themselves inside of vehicals.

I hardly call the AB-1, Flash speeder, or AV-21 burst runable

My mistake Tanks....I SHOULD have checked first. Thanks.

As for the cool down on underhand shot....it takes a lot longer then it takes the driver to turn around for 50m....are you sure your a BH?

Burst run CAN work for a little bit, but in the end, they still get away.

Rooting does not prevent theopponent from moving when he is the passenger in a vehicle. 2 guildmates and myself tried it by duelling earlier today. I used stopping shot on my opponent when she was on the passenger's seat in the vehicle, and it didnt prevent her from staying in the vehicle.

Knockdown seemed to be working: a KD shot would make her fall out from the vehicle.

Problem is that:

- basically we have to choose between: using our KD shots for what they are intended, ie KD our mark during the fight to add some extra damage and prevent them from attacking for 2-3 seconds OR keeping our KD shots (because of the timer) to prevent them from escaping using something that's not officially listed as an exploit but which obviously is an issue for PvP.

- even if we keep our KD shot and use it on the opponent when he's trying to escape, it will just delay him by 2-3 seconds, all he has to do is jump back in vehicle and this time you can not stop him because of the KD timer

Conclusion: it sucks.

IT's likely to be an issue of lag. I see this ALL the time from NPCs t Players, including myself.
