Im sure this has been beaten to death. But I just got novice CH. ANd I would KILL for a tracking ability to find animals. I dont know why a scout wouldnt have tracking. They had it in EQ and was well worth the ability. We need it in this.

Rangers huh. Well atleast they are putting it in the game. I still think that CH should get it also and same as scouts. Atleast at a high level if they think it is powerful or something.

Dev's will be adding a tracking ability to the Ranger profession. Go to ranger board and read holo's comments on it.

is it just me or does it seem like tracking is missing from the scouts in this game. Shouldnt a scout be able to track down a specific type of animal. follow tracks and what not. when im out hunting for wooly hides why not let me track down the animals i know have them.

also and my brother thinks this is dumb. but could we make it benefical for people to log out while in a camp. like it will protect them or heal them or something. it seems lame that you can just sit down in the middle of nowhere and be allright. anyway thats it

Rangers should be getting tracking quite soon (as well as lots of other nice new skills). Scouts will not be getting the skill (Ranger is an offshoot of Master Scout). As for logging out, higher level camps are meant to repel aggressive creatures so you should be better protected. It might be nice to have some additional bonuses but don't expect to see them anytime soon.

Afull,

You're idea on tracking is so good, it's already being added. It's a new Ranger skill.

As for the logging out in the wilderness - you've been lucky so far. I've logged back on many a time to find that after I'd logged out, I got nibbled on by a critter or two and wound up back in the cloning center.

I am going to have to say that I was a little disappointed after hearing that they changed the hunting line to the tracking line and they left the title of "Hunt Master" While I love the title I would prefer to have the title of tracker, expert/master tracker. Any suggestions?

I guess I am confused if tracking is working correctly, I get the list of creatures or whatever their distance and direction in a list with an ok and cancel button. I select one and click ok and the list goes away. Shouldn't we be able to the select one of the items from the list and it will be targeted, hence allowing us to actively track creatures. Or does the list update as you move around? I was already a master of the line so I don't know what information is given to those that haven't gotten to tracking 4, perhaps all the information I get already is that much better then the lower skill levels.

Has anyone else seen this or had it happen to them.

Do AreaTrack in one spot and track like X amount of creatures. Move like 50 meters and do AreaTrack again only to tell you that there are no creatures in the area (500 Meters), when the previous AreaTrack showed creatures in the 150 to 300 Meter range?

It seems that spawns on some planets appear, then disappear as quickly as they spawned. For I would go in that direction only to never track them again and see anything. Also on Dath it seems you can't track past your nose on that planet for some creatures will be over the next hill and you still get the message that there is no creatures in the area.

Ok I was hired last night to track Krayts and It didn't go so well. After a hour the only ones I found were the ones that kept spawing where the group was. I was really embarased that I couldn't find any. Even after the group left, i continued to look for Krayt. Anybody have any tips or anything for me. For once I hope I was doing something wrong and this isn't how its going to be.

Sorry to say it but that's just the way it is. The spawn system makes it difficult to find stuff with /areatrack. I blame it on all the player cities (I haven't seen a krayt outside the graveyard since they added them. I used to find them all over Tatooine).

Welcome to the Ranger profession . Our 1 marginally useful skill isn't very useful . The best way to track something is to have someone go find one on a bike, send you the waypoint, and then you move to within 500m of the WP and do the track then . Sorry for the sarcasm, but I fell much better now! .

Now that I got that out of my system, let me see if i can help. Areatrack is useful. The best way to utilize it is to have your groups mates run/ride around you like crazy (up to 500m in each direction), trying to stir up spawns. Since areatrack only tracks things that have spawned, you need to get people out there to spawn stuff.
