OK i see how it works now. Say I have 10 people in the hunting group. I have them run around within my 500m radius and hope for a spawn. I wonder what the odds are for me finding the spawn before one of the other 10 people running around. I guess that was my last tracking job for hunting groups. I'll just stick to tracking bounties.

The one time area track was useful to me. On dantooine going to do The Warren needed to find the NPC to give me a key card... uhh don't see him anywhere. /area found him 120m N of my position woot For Kryats i've noticed that if I spam area track they literally spawn on top of me.. but is this just me?

No, I had that happen too.

I was checking several times and heard a loud thumping as I looked through the track.

Turns out a Krayt spawned within 10m from me. Luckily I managed to get away fairly alive.

Areatrack is one of those skills thats works well in a controlled area.

I was looking for the Peko Peko Albatross two weeks ago - my city asked me to find it so we could harvest a feather. I used areatrack in a region rumored that they spawn in. Not to brag, it took longer for my guildmates to back me up than it did for me to find the spawn.

I am not above riding through an area and then doing my /ar to see what I woke up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.

I also find areatrack to be of use in PvP, when I want to know where the enemy is camped. Someone said knowing names is a pain, like 15 bodies in one general area on one heading isn't clue enough.

I do agree that player cities have totally gacked the spawning up. Must be a formula says that certain levels won't or don't random spawn within certain distances of cities. And with the extra foot traffic around the newer cities, the random spawns seem to be the lower levels near them - no high level random spawns anymore. I can become hide rich without leaving a 1k area from most cities, but you never see any of the higher level creatures.

Oh well, they may or may not fix it. Until then, I use it when I can, how I can, to benefit the people I am working with.

Exactly.

I use /ar within the means it provides for us now, and I do it for the same reason. Its usefull in PvP and raids... and its usefull when hunting for resources.

When you pay attention to the distance and directions, you can get some very good intel on the enemy (be they people or critters)

I am sure it is a coincidence. It is probably due to you being stationary and allowing the spawns to...spawn.

I use Area Track for resource gathering only. It can be useful if you're out trying to gather... let's say... Talusian Avian Meat. You can just stay out in the field instead of constantly going back for new missions.

Of course, the spawn system is screwy, and oftenleaves untrodden paths completely devoid of mobs. So even that is marginally useful.

I am just starting up the tree for ranger.

I noticed that you can track thins as a ranger. When I get up to tracking 4, will I be able to track specific animals? Choose from a list and look for that type of animal.

No, but you will be able to pull up a list of directions and distances to any people, players or animals in your tracking range (500m at Master).

I keep seeing people say that 500m is only at master, but i just have tracking 4 from ranger, and i track up to exactly 500m.

What is the minimum tracking box I would need for tracking a specific monster? I want to add ranger into my template so I can track Kimogilas.
