Thread: PVP Help
first, about the geo pistol..... YES it does make a difference..... even looted ones are sometimes better than regular tangles because they have far greater accuracy
but for pvp, you will often find that dx2's and mod. republic blasters to be more effecient- a lot of people are using stun-plated armor these days
as for other things to help you in pvp......
get some vagnerian canape (food, buffs secondary mind stats so they regen faster)
get dancer/musician buffs..... dancer buffs increase your mind, musician increases secondary
it's a percentage increase, so ask your entertainer how much they increase first..... you have to listen to them for a few minutes for the buffs to take effect, and last about as long as doctor buffs (the power and duration increases the longer you listen)
get some synthsteak or flameout (food, reduces damage taken from attacks)
or you could do the regular burst run....... the benefit from this is you get a bonus accuracy while moving, and become harder to hit- no, you won't hit as often, but you won't be hit NEARLy as often
the first tree lets you meditate.... at level 2 you can buff your mind for 350 for about 10 minutes (i believe, someone correct me if i'm wrong) and takes about 30 seconds, at various other levels you can cure poison and disease
the second tree will give you melee mitigation 2 in the third box (master will give you 3)and will also give you higher state defenses (like 20 more knockdown defense) and the last tree will give you WAY more ranged and melee defense than you've ever had..... you'll REALLY notice a difference

Your Stun Baton may be the issue - I always open up with it, and only if the target is wearing Stun Armor /PSG will I switch to the Gaffi stick. In many cases, however, the Baton will make quick work of anyone. Getting an Acklay-enhanced one is a must for Fencers in PvP.
As for food, same as the person above. 2 shots of Brandy, one Synthsteak and oneAhrisa. As soon as I'm under fire, I will either pop a Canape to get the Mind Regena bit higher (since Focus is theoretically capped past 1200 at this time.)
A lot of people use Canape, but I prefer Ahrisa for the simple fact that it lasts 40-45 minutes and boosts your Focus by about 400 or so, meaning that even with high encumbrance armor, you can easily spam any special without any mind cost, and it lasts much longer than Canape.
Definitely use Synthsteak though. And lastly, always carry Parwan Nutricake, atleast one shot or two. This food reduces the Burst Run recovery time, and basically allows you to take a quick flight out of there if you are under heavy fire. Riflemen will cry and swear at you if all of a sudden you are out of range and healing your mind back up (without armor) within seconds with Canape.
Vercupti is also a popular choice among some - it gives a rough 1200-1300 boost to your Health/Action/Mind bar (but it has high stomach filling, like 50-60, and is quite expensive on our server.) It is however a life-saver if you have space in your Food Bar.
Otherwise, what are you combining with Fencer in PvP? Fencer alone is great, but some other professions will vastly complement it.

I think this is where im going wrong, food.
Im not eating any at all, just drinking 2 shots of 400+ brandy and going for it....
Thanks for the tips fellas
Oh, and also Addy, i was heading for some TK skills...although im not sure now.
What would u suggest? a ranged skill like rifle?
Rifleman/Fencer is definitely a popular choice for obvious reasons. This puts you at the front lines of combat, dishing out two types of Stun damage -- baton and Ion Rifle. I'm sure you've seen these guys in action - hard to hit, and they pack a punch. It's a bit overkill on the defenses (SP wasted on over-capped melee/ranged I think), but it works.
Another popular choice for Fencers is the Pistoleer combo. Something like 1040 or 2040 along with some TK/Master Brawler skills. That specific branch of pistoleer will add +40 to each of your secondary defenses, like Blind, Stun, etc. With the current +50ish of Fencer, you'll find that few people will ever inflict states on you. Pistoleer is also a good way to get some extra Dodge, which currently I think is the most effective 'evasive' defense.
Finally, there's Carbineer, my current choice. I'm a Master Carbineer/Master Fencer/4003 TKA/2000 Medic. With this, I cap Melee/Ranged defense, I get full meditate from TK, and I have both Ranged and Melee Mitigation 3. The beauty of Carbineer is that its more of a 'tactical' profession, instead of an 'evasive' one like Pistoleer (where you rarely get hit but don't dish out a lot of damage) or a 'rampaging' one like Fencer/Rifleman.
Carbines essentially allow you to inflict a variety of states and posture changes at a distance. With a DH17 Krayt (firing at the speed cap), I can inflict a Stun, Blind, Dizzy and even Bleed on a target within a few seconds, depending on their resists. Once they are dizzied, I'll follow up with a Posture Down and finally a ChargeShot (KD) that will keep them on the ground for a bit. Move in with your baton, Warcry + Intimidate, and ScatterHit/OneHandHit them into oblivion. Carbineer therefore allows you to "set up" your target for a Fencer kill. Not everyone likes this though, but I was a pure Carbineer prior to adding Fencer, so it was a natural choice for me.
And then there's the ultimate Fencer-ish template, one that has Master Brawler in it. Intimidate 2 works twice as well as Intimidate 1 and Warcry 2 will disable your opponent for 20 seconds. That's a long time, considering that by the time it's expired, 10 seconds later you can effectively use it again, thus preventing your target from doing anything. This is a popular PvE and PvP choice, and most mix some TK with this as well. The only issue with this is that Riflemen will usually stear clear of you and you can easily get chewed up by their rifles if you can't close in on them. This is a 'group' PvP choice - not a solo'ers.
As for food, definitely use it. I find that I'm always crying and waiting for my Food Bar to drain down, since most 'passive' foods that add that lil' extra feature go in Food line. Hope this helps. ![]()
