Im a master pistoleer and novice smuggler with dirty fighting finished. It seems im really not effective in pvp against buffed players in composite. I tried a tangle pistol thinking the stun damage would penatrate the composite but it really doesnt seem to be doing enough damage. Is a geo pistol that much better? Im using 80 percent kinetic composite with good varsian brandy. Im double dosing and i have a muon charge in case my mind gets too low. Im still getting owned. I cant inflict the kind of damage that these other players are dishing out. Ive had one kill in PVP and it was against a master marksman. I cant beat other ranged professions. What can i do to infilct some damage with this profession combo? Someone mentioned skill tapes. What can i do to protect the mind more?

first, about the geo pistol..... YES it does make a difference..... even looted ones are sometimes better than regular tangles because they have far greater accuracy
but for pvp, you will often find that dx2's and mod. republic blasters to be more effecient- a lot of people are using stun-plated armor these days

as for other things to help you in pvp......

get some vagnerian canape (food, buffs secondary mind stats so they regen faster)

get dancer/musician buffs..... dancer buffs increase your mind, musician increases secondary
it's a percentage increase, so ask your entertainer how much they increase first..... you have to listen to them for a few minutes for the buffs to take effect, and last about as long as doctor buffs (the power and duration increases the longer you listen)

get some synthsteak or flameout (food, reduces damage taken from attacks)

there's a food that increases accuracy, but i can't remember what it's called exactly.... it's citrus-something

there's a food called parwan (or something similar) that lets you burst run with a bonus.... i'm a bio-engineer and got together with my chef friend and made her some flavor enhancements so that you can essectially string 5 together in a row (now that's some stamina)
or you could do the regular burst run....... the benefit from this is you get a bonus accuracy while moving, and become harder to hit- no, you won't hit as often, but you won't be hit NEARLy as often

dabble in a melee class..... i suggest teras kasi.....master or at least 2304
the first tree lets you meditate.... at level 2 you can buff your mind for 350 for about 10 minutes (i believe, someone correct me if i'm wrong) and takes about 30 seconds, at various other levels you can cure poison and disease
the second tree will give you melee mitigation 2 in the third box (master will give you 3)and will also give you higher state defenses (like 20 more knockdown defense) and the last tree will give you WAY more ranged and melee defense than you've ever had..... you'll REALLY notice a difference

can't think of anything more

Power boost give your mind health and action pool an increase of 1/2 your mind pool. You'll be fighting buffed so slam all your points into the three mind stats. Get yourself a set of good stun and heavey armor. Where the heavey armor to start with. If anyone pulls out a stun baton, geo or jawa switch to your stun quickly with a macro. Get yourself a geo and go hunting NPC for DOT weapons

Hey,

Ive been attempting to PvP for a while now, but i dont seem to be doing any real damage to anyone.

I am a Master Fencer (no other combat profs except Brawler 4400).

I use full comp armour 80% against all accept stun - its still stun vunerable. Yeah i know thats a problem with riflemen

taking me out etc , and im thinking of buying a stun helmet. I have a Gaffi which is somethng like 145-256 dmg and a stun baton which isnt so good tbh (cant remember stats)

Anyway, what I wanted to ask is, how do u guys "prepare" for PvP , obviously u get a buff - what about Food , Drink and Spice?

and once fighting, what sort of combos do you use? Any help is appreciated it, im bored of dying and not acheiving anything!

Many Thanks

I typicaly take 2 vasarian brandy (400+ ones), as for food, sythesteak, arisa (sp?) and something else that I don't remember the name of Basicely what the 3 food do : increase dodge chances, lower damage of the hits that acctualy hit you, and one to somehow boost your mind). I dunno if it's the best combination around, but that's what I have hehe

Your Stun Baton may be the issue - I always open up with it, and only if the target is wearing Stun Armor /PSG will I switch to the Gaffi stick. In many cases, however, the Baton will make quick work of anyone. Getting an Acklay-enhanced one is a must for Fencers in PvP.

As for food, same as the person above. 2 shots of Brandy, one Synthsteak and oneAhrisa. As soon as I'm under fire, I will either pop a Canape to get the Mind Regena bit higher (since Focus is theoretically capped past 1200 at this time.)

A lot of people use Canape, but I prefer Ahrisa for the simple fact that it lasts 40-45 minutes and boosts your Focus by about 400 or so, meaning that even with high encumbrance armor, you can easily spam any special without any mind cost, and it lasts much longer than Canape.

Definitely use Synthsteak though. And lastly, always carry Parwan Nutricake, atleast one shot or two. This food reduces the Burst Run recovery time, and basically allows you to take a quick flight out of there if you are under heavy fire. Riflemen will cry and swear at you if all of a sudden you are out of range and healing your mind back up (without armor) within seconds with Canape.

Vercupti is also a popular choice among some - it gives a rough 1200-1300 boost to your Health/Action/Mind bar (but it has high stomach filling, like 50-60, and is quite expensive on our server.) It is however a life-saver if you have space in your Food Bar.

Otherwise, what are you combining with Fencer in PvP? Fencer alone is great, but some other professions will vastly complement it.

I don't use anything too fancy, 2 canape, 2 brandy, and some aircake. There's so much good food out there to use so it's all preference.

Rifleman/Fencer is definitely a popular choice for obvious reasons. This puts you at the front lines of combat, dishing out two types of Stun damage -- baton and Ion Rifle. I'm sure you've seen these guys in action - hard to hit, and they pack a punch. It's a bit overkill on the defenses (SP wasted on over-capped melee/ranged I think), but it works.

Another popular choice for Fencers is the Pistoleer combo. Something like 1040 or 2040 along with some TK/Master Brawler skills. That specific branch of pistoleer will add +40 to each of your secondary defenses, like Blind, Stun, etc. With the current +50ish of Fencer, you'll find that few people will ever inflict states on you. Pistoleer is also a good way to get some extra Dodge, which currently I think is the most effective 'evasive' defense.

Finally, there's Carbineer, my current choice. I'm a Master Carbineer/Master Fencer/4003 TKA/2000 Medic. With this, I cap Melee/Ranged defense, I get full meditate from TK, and I have both Ranged and Melee Mitigation 3. The beauty of Carbineer is that its more of a 'tactical' profession, instead of an 'evasive' one like Pistoleer (where you rarely get hit but don't dish out a lot of damage) or a 'rampaging' one like Fencer/Rifleman.

Carbines essentially allow you to inflict a variety of states and posture changes at a distance. With a DH17 Krayt (firing at the speed cap), I can inflict a Stun, Blind, Dizzy and even Bleed on a target within a few seconds, depending on their resists. Once they are dizzied, I'll follow up with a Posture Down and finally a ChargeShot (KD) that will keep them on the ground for a bit. Move in with your baton, Warcry + Intimidate, and ScatterHit/OneHandHit them into oblivion. Carbineer therefore allows you to "set up" your target for a Fencer kill. Not everyone likes this though, but I was a pure Carbineer prior to adding Fencer, so it was a natural choice for me.

And then there's the ultimate Fencer-ish template, one that has Master Brawler in it. Intimidate 2 works twice as well as Intimidate 1 and Warcry 2 will disable your opponent for 20 seconds. That's a long time, considering that by the time it's expired, 10 seconds later you can effectively use it again, thus preventing your target from doing anything. This is a popular PvE and PvP choice, and most mix some TK with this as well. The only issue with this is that Riflemen will usually stear clear of you and you can easily get chewed up by their rifles if you can't close in on them. This is a 'group' PvP choice - not a solo'ers.

As for food, definitely use it. I find that I'm always crying and waiting for my Food Bar to drain down, since most 'passive' foods that add that lil' extra feature go in Food line. Hope this helps.

Thats some awesome advice man, 5 stars for you

The Carbineer profression sounds very very interesting. Problem I have is that i am also a droid engineer so quite limited to SP.

I was PvPing last night and i had managed to get some Synthsteak before i "went" in so to speak...and man you guys were so right! i was taking hits butless damagethan usual. Also bought a stun helmet so was protected from those nasty riflemen.

Thanks for the help fellas !

Alright, what you need to do is get good stun batons if you don't have the money don't pvp. You need 39-40% stun layer composite around 65% or so base stats. Don't use your gaffi get 1h dot weapons. Get every kind of buff dancer/musician/doctor then drink 2 brandy and 1 synth steak then make a center macro. Always use everything i mentioned when pvping you find that you will become much greater. SWG pvp isn't about skill. We all know the person who is suppose to be the best on the server has the best equipment strip him/her of that and they will suck. PVP in this game doesnt take skill you just need better equipment.

Hi guys, I'm trying to figure out what I want to do. I'm looking to design a character that is 100% for pvp purposes, and I figured I'd throw my templates up here to see what you guys think.

Master Swordsman, Fencer 0440, Master Brawler, TK 4400, novice scout (for resources) and novice medic.

or

Master BH / Tracking

or

TKM/Master Doctor.

What are your thoughts on these? I'm just trying to figure out what is the best way to go for 100% pvp.

Any help would be great. Thanks!
