Although I am new to posting on the forums, and just had to reverify again (?) I felt the need to voice my opinion about this. I read several posts concerning killing jedi while they are AFK grinding or waiting until they go LD. Yesterday I actually saw an LD kill for the first time, since I don't even try, and I knew just how much it could not be intended as it is being used, and yes even exploited by some BH.

As a Bounty Hunter I understand getting your mark no matter what, but I also think that getting your mark gives them the chance to fight, run, etc, not taking advantage when they are booted from the server, loss internet connection, or have computer problems. We all have had some problem causing us to be randomly kicked I'm sure. For those questioning my motives I will tell you that the Jedi killed is a guild member and friend, but the manner of the kill is what bothers me not that he was killed. After all I am a bounty hunter and killing jedi is an integral part of this game. I am going to try to add a clicky to this, if it doesn't work please some one make it a clicky if I don't figure it out. Also, I've not been around since the beginning, but I have been playing since Dec 2004 and have learned many things about this game.

To the Devs: is there a way to fix this? My biggest problem with this is he logged off, per the chat logs, almost a full minute before the first attack. To BH: isn't the hunt the fun part, making a kill on a player with the capability to kill you. There is no other gameexperience that has evercome close to therushfelt as you prepare to attack and actually attack. Having talked with Jedi many also say the rush they feel is similar to mine even when they die.

I have no compasion for AFK grinders because that is not the way to improve your own skills and it ruins the game for me. In the end though, they are taking the risk of an easy kill, soas long as they don't hinder other players from enjoying the game I guess they make the final call.

Ah well, now for the screen pics of the chat logs so you can see what I'm talking about.

Yes there is. He could have used the /logout command instead of just disconnecing and would have disappeared immediately. Further he could have loged out in a safehouse like all others do.

That's how I killed my very first jedi. He planet hopped trying to get away from me for a bit then he went LD on Lok. Got the final blow in just in time.

QFE, he/she should of used /logout, which gives a 30second timer. If the player was attacked during this timer, the logout would be cancelled allowing the jedi to react to the BH.

Just for information he had some type of connection loss. Should have stated that in the beginning.

Nice rant but it really comes down to this:

The bounty hunter doesnt know if the target has connection problems or not. After tracking the target for possibly quite a while and then seeing him go LD...most will assume he is logging and will attack.

Cause if they are right and the mark is logging...the mission is pretty much over. Many wont risk it for the offchance that he might have problems.

CLICKY

So anytime a jedi dont want to fight they should just pull the plug on ther internet making them LD so nobody will attack them.

$hit happens live with it. If you lose connection or power goes out that much that it becomes that much of a problem maybe they should look into buying a new PC, battery backup, better internet (this game recomends a broadband connection).

Funny thing is Jedi dont have the LD problems while AFK grinding there jedi its only when a bh is in sight or coming for them do they have so many connection/power problems.

Jedi would exploit it if they could not be attacked while LD just the same as they exploited thelogin/out bug that use to make them un-trackable by droids. Oh wait they were not exploiting it they just all had really bad internet connections that required them to login/out 10 times in under 2 min before they could play.

Don't mean it as a rant, but how long does a character remain attackable after they are logged off? The attack came just under a minute after he was shown logged off. His death was about a minute and a half after he was logged off. And if you read his statement he states he has killed this bh three times in a true fight, so it looks like this bh had to take the low road to kill this jedi.

Hotmetal has it correct. There is even a loadscreen that talks about it.

Also, like the other person said, there isn't a way to know if you are logging, recently afk or ATK.

I'm not jedi, but I had a power outage while on Corellia in the field, but nothing was too dangerous, some cl18 butterflies. I get back into the game to find out that I died by cl18 butterflies!

It happens, not the games fault (since there isn't a way for the system to realize you are actually gone and it's not just a temp packet loss) and you would be even more angry if the game dropped you every time the connection slowed.

If you come to Starsider ask about Zartan and see if he runs from a fight. Like I said, Jedi dying from BH is a very big part of this game. It's not even that BH took advantage of a bad situtation, but the fact that he was offline for a fairly long time before the attack/kill. And if I had recorded the video you would see him sitting with no movement/chats/etc for probably close to five minutes making it very clear he was having problems.
