Thread: Combat Medics?
I don't really agree with it either, but the fact remains that it's a rumor around the circles I travel. I don't think they should be "dealt" with by the nerfi stick, but if enough Jedi complain.... I'll bet they will be.
However, I'm starting to agree that a MCM who knows his sh|t really is just about unbeatable. I've never seen a BH/Doc, or at least noticed that I saw one... To me After getting MBH and MRM, Pistols 4xx4 was a logical choice. Again, irritating that by chosing that profession line, I still cannot do enough damage to out damage a healer. It's quite funny though, the fight will go on for about 20-30 minutes unusally. The CMs against me go into a healing loop, and I just keep pounding away at them. I will win some of these because the CM either runs out of mind, or runs out of meds in the inventory and cannot heal any longer. Not a "true" in my book. But a win is a win.
I am a Master Combat Medic now, and when I used my last /respec recently I was happy to see that they can heal so well...
Even though I like it, perhaps it is just a tad too high... Docs are better however, and Master CM's should be the 2nd highest healing class, I believe. So... yea, I'd like for it to stay, but it might not be too fair to the rest of the community. And personally I don't want to win duels / fights and have it said that I "won" because of our high healing ability.
Well in repsonse... I've never met a combat medic that could win through sheer firepower. But then that's now that they were meant to do. I've had my butt handed to me by some CM's because they knew how to use their templates, and for them, I have no problems. When a CM lands a bunch of states on me, and then rips me to pieces, that's acceptable. I've seen far too many CM's that only know how to heal with their templates.... that just doesn't use the potential that CM's carry.
What isn't acceptable to me is when a CM sits there and heals all day while taking little 100dmg chunks out of me for 30minutes and then finally wins because I ran out of med packs, couldn't drink anymore ruby, etc.
I far prefer wins where it's CLEAR who the victor was. A win by stunning tactics or sheer overwhelming firepower are far better for me personally. "Hollow" I won because I could outlast the opponents force/mind/healing to just isn't the same... but again... I'll take it.
I am guessing by the lack of response, that the rumor is false? Is Doc any good in a PvP template? Doesn't it suck up too many points, or is it the same as CM?

unbeatable? not quite. just some jedi know how to fight against them and some dont. it depends on how you combat them. any comp temp can defeat a cm. just need to be good at what you do and you do it.
I'm not talking about Jedi beating them. I'm talking about MBH's without CM beating them in PvP. It's very difficult for me to take a CM who heals the entire fight. It's not impossible, it just takes a very long time for me to do it. When it DOES happen, it's through good timing on my part. It's landing that perfect combo of KD, startle, sniper, critical that will usually take them down for me.
They are not undefeatable at all. I have fought many a MBH / MCM in my BH guild and beat all of them at least once. Been beat only once by a MCM.... and the second round I beat him. I have No healing other than stims. MBH / MPist / Carb 0440.
It's all in how you play your template, and wich templates beat each other. It's like paper, rock, siscors..... each one is good against another and poor against another.
MBH / MCM just happens to be very good against MOST jedi templates.
Ok... once and for all .. you can't nerf one healing profession without nerfing them all!! That means Doc's CM's and Jedi.
All three are pretty darn close accross the board. The MDoc may be the best of them all, but then again, he's a Master Doctor!! There are a lot of CM 4000's and Doc 4000's and Jedi Healing 4000's. It is designed to be that way. It's a choice you have to make, sacrifice some accuracy, speed, and root to dabble in healing. If I choose to dabble my skill points to pick up CM 4000 then why sound I be penalized or nerfed when the Doc 4000 and Jedi Healing 4000 can heal just as well as me and not be nerfed.
If you don't like being beat by a healing dabbler then adjust your template so you can.
I was anti medic since game launch until Ithrew my hat into the Jedi hunting arena. I had to figure out a way to beat them somehow. I picked up CM 4000 and have been very successfull. Not just in PVP but PVE as well.
Try it out. You will like it.

It's not about losing and being upset about it. I don't mind losing at all. If I lose, it's because someone was better. When I lose for cheap tricks that's another story. Like the old CM "toss n run" (pre-cu) I used to loathe that..... but we all dealt with it.
I've been very effective against the Jedi with my template and no healing, save stims. For an overall PvP combination, I'm leaning on picking up some CM or Doc though. The responses here from the crowd that uses them, and fights against them have baiscally told me that they are about equal.
There have been PLENTLY of times where some extra healing would have been nice though, let me tell you that.... that 30 seconds between ruby hits sometimes just doesn't come fast enough, and I hold on to dear life for a few seconds which seem like hours...
So I may take you up on that offer.... I may try it out tonight... I'll see if I doinfact, like it.
if you're already a mbh - then it takes the same amount of skill points to become a novice doctor than it does to become a CM4000.
as a novice doctor you get +35 healing effiency
as a CM4000 you get a +65 healing effiency
you do the math...+65 versus +35 for the same skill points will equal greater heals for less mind.
why do you think every Joe and Jane BH'er fotm template incorporates at least CM4000 into it?
combat medics get more healing for less skill points because both BH and CM use the ranged support line in marksman as one of their base lines and only 1 extra line (ranged healing) in the medic tree. whereas, to become a doctor a bh will need to do two extra lines in the medic tree (medical knowledge and support).
so - yea...i think CM healing is a bit overpowered when compared to doctors - not compared masters to masters, but comparing skill points to skill points when your base template is the MBH.

I seriously don't see what the big deal has been lately with combat medic.Usually this is by people who don't have any healing in their templates and think they can get by with foods and drinks.I haven't lost to a mcm yet and I'm a master pistoleer/master bounty hunter.Wanna guess where the leftover skill points are at? You are allotted 250 skill points. What is the problem with adding some heal abilities? They already lowered the effectivness of bacta shot, what more do you people want?

I heard from a few people in game that Combat Medics were going to get slapped with the nerf stick because of the "unnatural" healing abilities. Anyone heard of this yet? It was something about nerfing either their healing timers, making it longer, or making them heal for less with each heal.
I must admit I find it irritating that (not being a CM at all) I SERIOUSLY outdamage a CM in a fight, by around 10/1 and still lose because of their healing. Why in just 3 seconds they can go from 50 health to 100%. Not a complaint, just an observation.
