Thread: jedi runs. success or failure?
Well, if it was a duel it would be a win for you.
However since this was a mission......failure.
You gotta get paid, would it be kill the mark or he pays you off, then it would be a success.
No worries, i had plenty of runners too.
although it cannot count as a "kill", it is still a "win by forfeit".
if a boxer steps out of the ring in the middle of a fight, then the remaining boxer gets awarded the win by forfeit.
if a baseball team steps off of the field in the 4th inning, the opposing team gets awarded the win by forfeit.
precedent after precedent after precedent has been set in all manners of contests of skill, and each one ALWAYS awards a "win by forfeit" to the person/team who doesn't walk off the "field of battle".
a jedi who runs implicitly concedes that you are the better fighter who cannot be defeated, therefore, you win. it is a success.

you get his health down to 200 a few times, eventually he runs, cloaks and goes inside his house. do you consider that success or failure? since you already know you can beat him, and you are probably going to waste 1 hour of his time because he will be too scared to come out
i say it doesnt matter as long as you had fun obvisuly he couldnt defeat you so he ran BUT it is always the jedis choice to fight you

As much as it pains me to say it (has happened to me plenty of times) it's still considered a failure in my book. Anything short of a mission payout is never a success.
I don't see it as a "win" though, because ultimately I'm down x number of droids, x number of shuttleport tickets with nothing to show for it. The hunt cost me money rather than rewarded me.
Cloak and Stasis/FR3 is more of an "I won't lose" than an "I Win" button (which I know from personal experience since my Jedi is MPowers/MEnhancer)

the bounty hunter/Jedi relationship is not a WWE wrestling match to see who has the biggest ego... it's not a who can beat who in PvPP situation, it's a live/die situation....
Your job is to KILL the Jedi, not to beat him.... The Jedi's job is to stay alive, not to beat you. If the Jedi successfully gets away from you to safety, he has succeeded his role, and you have failed yours.
