Thread: jedi runs. success or failure?
Bottom line - unless you can predict exactly when they are going to cloak and remain within 20m (whilst not putting yourself in range of their melee attacks - difficult with lag) you are going to get this happening all the time.

You can't really stop someone cloaking under the current system. Unless you are some freak TKM MBH then you are going to be wanting to kite them for the entire fight. Kiting them means they are at least 20m away at all times, which is the activation distance for Cloak. It has a very low Force cost for activation too, and the drain is easily mitigated by Channel.

i'm one of the rare bounty hunters who does not need to kite a jedi. i stay in melee range all the time and kill jedi fast.

lol well i couldn't care less about the jabba's orders, or the 200k lol. that's just in the movies. however i think in the mind, the bh would the winner, jedi sees the bh as an opponent he can't fight. so he runs

But see, that is not involved in "the hunt."
If all you want to do is to see if you can defeat the Jedi, stand in starports and duel them, and you can get the same effect...
But when you take a mission.... Just like a standard lair mission, Unless you get a "mission complete" and credits in your pocket, you did not complete your mission...and anything less than that is a failure.
And to get the payout, you don't have to "defeat" the Jedi... the best hunters wait and let the JEdi do the work for them...as in they wait til they can catch them already in combat, low on health, low on force, or incapped...and get the Deathblow.
If all you want to know is if you can defeat him, you can find that out with a simple duel... but when you take a mission, it all comes down to the DB... not the fight.

although it cannot count as a "kill", it is still a "win by forfeit".

it's the reason why i have the highest jedi kill count across all the servers. it's also the reason why i am the greatest. kiting is for pansies.

Oh yeah...oh mighty one, what is your temp anyway? Somehow I missed that in all of your self proclaimed glory?

It requires putting P-ups on your weapons and tranfering servers a few times. Then getting enough CM to outheal any damage a Jedi can do, coupled with slapping as many debuffs on them as possible.
this whole server transfer-pup urban myth thing is getting really, really old. don't you think that it's odd that the only people in the whole of SWG who has even heard of this transfer-pup thing are two jedi on starsider who also happen to get owned by me each time i complete their bounty mission? seriously. don't you think it's odd that no one else on any other server or on any other profession board is complaining about the so-called transfer-pup thing except for those same starsider jedi? ROFL.

If you the BH did not get paid for the job, you failed.
For the jedi its easier. He can win by getting away from you alive, either by beating you, or run away from you. No matter what he choses: he won that battle
I think its a win.... not in credits...but in something far more valuable to a bounty hunter! Reputation!!
Each jedi that you force to run is a boost in a bounty hunters reputation...you start off as an unknown, but slowly from taking player missions you start to gain fame (not just in winning, but HOW you win also...too much trash talk doesnt help). In the end, your character advances by being feared and respected....when you walk into a cantina and all the jedi inside target you and /duel to check if you are after them...you have won.
I agree with the above poster. How fondly I remind the geo days where, upon entering the geo cave, the spatial spam of grinding jedi would read: "**edit**, its fura!" "Red Widow is here guys, run!" "BH BH BHB H" OMG RUN"
Then seeing nearly 12 jedi trampling each other to head to the exit, and my poor mark noticing he is the only one left standing, and I am looking at him.
Aaah, sweet days. I so cant get used to the heal spam ftw type of new bh'ing that is around now ![]()
With Bounty Hunting your mission is to kill the mark. If the mark is not corpsed by yourself, you personally have failed your mission. You may have won the duel or combat aspect of the mission but unless your mark is dead, then you have completely and utterly failed to do your mission.
