Hi, I have been playing this game on and off for the past few months, and its really great. I am taking it at a slow pace and enjoying every minute of it, but I have a few questions.

1. Is there any way I can become a novice scout while already being an artisan? It would be much easier for me to get hide and bones if I could kill the animals myself than to pay alot to get them.

2. Is there any other way to get XP points faster? I need 10k more to be an armorsmith, but it is taking forever.

3. I joined the rebels as a covert person. I am a second rank (forgot what it is) one above the lowest. How can this help me? Can I get more faction points by doing harder things than to run errands?

Thanks alot!

Each skill you gain costs points. You start with 250 and your first skill takes away 15 points right away. All the non-Elite, non-Elite-Elite and non-Hybrid novice skills take 15 points. It is very common from artisans to have scouting for resource collecting. All you need is to find a Scout trainer and have 100 credits and 15 skill points to spend.

Tyoe:
/find trainer: scout

The client will point you to the closest one (usually).

1) yes you can! Just talk to a scout trainer NPC and they can teach you Novice Scout for a small fee and 15 skill points. You could also get Novice Marksman and/or brawler if you like.

2) Faster exp, maybe.. it depends on what you are making, check your exp number before and after whatever you are crafting to gain exp.. and try crafting something else. Stick with things that dont require much resources but give you at least 30-50 exp per craft.

3) More rank mainly means you can store more faction points. As a covert you are limited in how many you can store without becoming overt to gain more. I think at some point you get more points per faction kill if you get high enough rank.

Thanks for the answers. So I pretty much just need to keep working on gaining XP points? I suppose crafting armor and extractors give me about 400 a pop. Thanks again.

Hi there, I'm a new novice politician and have just started a city. I've been trawling the threads but can't seem to find questions/answers on the following, so hope you can help (and sorry if this has been covered a hundred times before).

1. I'd like to set up a militia force. Some of the posts here seem to be suggesting that all the militia can really do is ban a player from using the city's amenities (eg shuttleport etc) and grant zoning rights. Is that it? What happens if a player is banned from the city by the militia - can all of themilitia then target and attack that banned player while they remain within the city limits?

2. I'm a little unsure as to what behaviour justifiesa ban on another player and would be interested to hear from other mayors what guidelines they tend to use. In other words, what's considered bad form and what's acceptable? Are there any unwritten rules on when bans should be used?

Any help / views from fellow experienced politicians would be a great help. Thanks in advance.

1. Members of the militia have the ability to /grantzoningrights and /cityban only. I believe only the mayor has /citypardon.

/grantzoningrights - allows the targeted player to place any structure (house, factory, harvester) within the city zoned area (radius designated by the city level and only when zoning is activated). They by default can do this for 24 hrs. If you do a /grantzoningrights again after the person has placed the structure they asked you for, it will revoke their rights. This is a good idea so the person doesn't have full placement ability for 24 hrs and while you are asleep.

/cityban - revokes the target from using any of the city civic structures and services. They cannot enter city hall or the cloning center and cannot fly out on the shuttle. They can however still fly in which makes no sense. They can still enter the hospital, cantina and theatre as those are privately owned structures and the ban list on those buildings needs to be used just as it is in houses.

/citypardon - pardons the /cityban

2. Well, what would cause someone to /cityban someone is a matter of all kinds of things. Are you a factional city? If for example you are an Imperial city and a member of a known Rebel guild enters the city, do you ban them? Some would say yes. If an opposing faction member causes you problems, most would say ban. If a person comes into your city and swears or spams, you might ban them. Anyone you want to not have an easy time in your city you would ban. Enemies, troublemakers, etc.

Citybanning is up to the tastes of the people running the city. I'd suggest a list of things that are bannable offenses and mailing it to anyone in the militia. That way things are clear. It's really up to you. You could technically /cityban everyone who entered your city if you wanted to.

There are no methods at this moment of attacking people you do not want in your city. /citywarn which allowed this was removed because people were using it against anyone and everyone for no reason except to kill an easy target in their city. Cities placed near POIs were abusing it to some extend to keep access to the POI to the citizens only. There is no expectation of it being returned in any form anytime soon.

So, aside from the cityban and grantzoningrights, the militia serves little purpose. There is no way to keep someone from enterting the city and no way to attack anyone nless they duel you, or they are opposing faction and have a TEF or are overt as are you.

as im sure u all know this game can be very overwhelming and complicated for a starting player, even if he/she is a veteran gamer. after about a week of good hardcore gaming i feel as though i have a good basic understanding of the game and i have learned it all on my own , avoiding as much as posible asking stupid questions in public places but, one thing still confuses me and i cant resist asking. the jedi system.
now i realize that it is a long and dificult task to achieve jedi status and i accept that this is a good thing, as the game would quickly become boring without diversity .just 1,000,000 jedi clones running around the galaxy. however, i think i am in this game for the long haul and i am anxious to get started on this path(a red lightsaber would be so sweet)so here is what i gather of the jedi system from what i have read here in the forums:
the "old system" was simply to master and forget profesions untill at some point between 15 and 30 profesions later ur jedi status would be unlocked.though i dont understand the star wars jargon "hologrinding" or "holoskill"
the "new system" , the one that is in effect as of now 4/23/04, involves "FS" or "force Sensitive" quests. am i correct in assuming this means special missions? if so, where do u go to accept them? can a decently geared and skilled charicter(perticularly me when i reach my goal of master doctor master pistoleer ) do it alone or do u need a large group?(guild)how many of these missions are we talking about?if all jedi must start good then "fall" to become dark jedi does that mean that a player charicter factioned and identified as imperial cannot become jedi , only rebel factioned or neutral players?(because everyone knows the empire is evil(evilgrin))does this have ne berring on achiving the unlock?will it say right on the charicter select screan that a new slot is avalible for a certian universe when u achieve jedi status?
again i realize that some secrecy exists about the jedi system, so ne information i could get i would appreciate
thx

the system to unlock your jedi slot is still Hologrinding (its called hologrinding because players can be told specific professions that they have to master by a special cube called a holocron, hence the name holoprofession and hologrinding), currently the system to unlock appears to be based around having to master a certain number and certain professions, it will stay like this until publish 10 (publish 8 is still on test center) and after publish 10 the mehtod of unlocking isnt known yet other than it will be mission based and not profession based

the devs did give every player in the game one as a christmas present, but they used to have to be looted of specific things in the game like Rebel Surface Marshals and Darktroopers, nowadays you should be able to get holocrons for 100k -200kcr, i dont suggest you bother using them though, most people who unlock nowadays are having to master between 20-32 proffessions and youll never be able to get you slot in time before the change, you may aswell wait till the new system is in place and then start you quest there, just spend the next month or so learning about the game.

I just have to add that if you do intend on making jedi (and ThunderHeart did say it will be harder to obtain in the new system) the amount of professions you have mastered will count towards progression in that new system. If you're bored or want to try another profession you may as well do so now.

And..... I'm not sure if this was answered but the first lightsaber you make will be a red one.
