Thread: Need some advice...

My ultimate goal is Master Smuggler/Master Pistoleer.


My question is, would you recommend using the XP to go up the Dirty Fighting tree first or get Novice Pistoleer first?

I would suggest dirty fighting. There are some sweet skills in that line.

I would go with the pistoleer skills. The dirtly fighting skills are nice, but you will gain pistol xp faster after you spend some points as a pistoleer.

The Dirty Fighting branch isgood but it doesn't give any pistol accuracy, aimingor speed bonuses like the Pistoleer. I'll be going the Pistoleer route first before working on Dirty Fighting.

Doing some calculations I will only end up with 9 skillpoints left to use from where I am at in Rifleman. I have only Novice and one on the Sniper tree. Should I:



  1. Take one more in the Sniper tree (4 points, level 2) and take another level 1 from another tree (5 points).


    • if so, which level one?

  2. Take all the rest I can from the Sniper tree.

I am having trouble with the ID UI. I have a very hard time seeing the hair icons when trying to change people's style, and now when I click on one I can't see it change on the person I'm ID'ing. This is getting very frustrating, since when a customer asks for a specific style I have to close my eyes, click one, and hope it's what they want. Is there any way to make the icons bigger or easier to see without having giant icons in my inventory? And is ID bugged, as the hair styles I chose are not appearing on the client until they click accept?

I'm afraid it's always been the case that neither you nor anyone watching the ID procedure cansee what a style will look like on a person unless they hit accept. The person you are ID'ing can preview the style which is why you can hear them saying ewww and whatnot when they see one they don't like and refuse it. As for the little icons, we all struggle with trying to figure out what the tiny little pictures actually represent, particularly those we are less familiar with or are very small and complex (such as zabrak horn designs).One thing you could do is alt tab out of the game and refer to one of the websites showing all of the hairstyles for the different species. The fansite link stickied at the top of the forum lists a few Image Design screenshot sites

even though i am no longer an ID, one trick to seeing the icon a little better (not perfect). Is to go into the interface options and change the color of your interface to alpha blue i think is the lightest color, it helps a lil but is not perfect. as for seeing hair on the client, kwee has answered that very well.

Yes, it's alpha blue. I used to use destroyer, but it made IDing hair impossible—so back to the blue that hurts my eyes 90% of the time I play. Oh well. Has anyone ever seen a dev state why the hair icons aren't resizable? All other icons in the game are…makes no sense.

Ooo sounds like a good UI wish list item I don't believe we've ever formally requested that feature, though it may have come up in Ood_Bnar's ID user interface thread.

Thanks for the replies. I was using the Destoyer UI, and switched back to Alpha Blue. That did help some


They really should come up with more UI's or let people make skins like they did in EQ, the color choices currently offered are pretty hard on the eyes, and it would also help immensely if the icons were bigger. Not everyone has 20/20 vision.

Doh, I looked at that wrong, sorry. Now I'm not sure, since I was considering doing CM to go with my rifleman, but TK is pretty tempting also.

I am currently thinking of going into the Rifleman prof. The thing is that I would like to do good in PvP (even though I dont PvP much)and PvE. What I would like to know is what are some professions that would go good with Rifleman? Currently I was thinking of either becoming a Master TKA or a Master CM.
