Ummmm anyone else think it's odd that the best weilders of pistols in the galaxy can't use the best pistols in the galaxy...seemed odd to me and my friend. I was kinda lost when i found that I only get one new pistol cert whenI hit novice pistoleer and then that's it....nothin else. It's not even a very good pistol. The FWG5 I use now is faster and does more damage. So my real question is this, am I bound to this FWG5 for the rest of my gunfighting life? Please tell me I'm wrong on this....

Lots of people have noticed this. And don't expect SOE to change it anytime soon. Jaegen is trying, but I just really don't think they are listening.

yeah the dx2 is now totally blown away by the fwg5 on starsider. the weaponsmiths are now making 180+ damage fwg5's, and there has even been a report of a fwg5 that can do over 300 dmg. which is like double the dx2.

The DX2 istoo high end right now.

Why not give the weaponsmiths a chance to get as good as building DX2s as they are at building FWG5s..

Not for nothing, but on Bria, the best Pistol I could find unsliced is a DH17. DMG 66-182. 1.8 Speed. Sure people sell the newer guns, but they charge more and the numbers are worse.

I refuse to pay an extra 5 to 6k for a slight reduction in HAM costs, and a tiny improvement in wound chance..

Once the resources to build DX2 pistols are in abundance and being made often, you'll see the Pistols improve as the Weaponsmiths learn how to properly build them. Doesn't that make sense? As opposed to crying to the Devs about something that is pretty much a non-issue?

Of course, the above is my opinion and my experience. If a Weaponsmith on Bria can make DX2s for less than 120k, it would be A)Crap. B) A Miracle. Given what it takes them to gather the resources to make one of the 3 Elite weapons, I don't plan on buying one for a loooong time anyway.

Umm, Seekalaei,

I'm on Bria and got a DX2 a couple weeks ago from Police. It was 99-156, 2.6 speed. Sliced it's 117-204, 2.6. With my power ups, it goes to either 1) 156-264, 2.6; or 2) 117-204, 1.8. Plus, it didn't cost anywhere near 120k.

Guapo has been making unsliced FWG5s with max 200 damage, and 2.1 speed. Scouts are very good as well and rival the FWG5s in DPS. VAST has had sliced FWG5s on his vendor that are pushing max 300 damage, 2.1 speed and were priced around 80k.

I admit, we've had a severe drought of resources for the DX2, but they have been out there recently. They just sold out as soon as they hit the vendors.

yea, my DX2 is 100-156, speed 2.4 and it only cost me 10k. I'm on wanderhome btw. One negative as well about DX2s is that their action cost is alittle high... right at 40 i think.

Well, someone is about to become my new hero.

Last night, I went to Neede, to find all his weapons sliced, and his best Power5 didn't compare to the DH17 I have. I paid 10k for it, and it's 61-189, 1.8 speed. HAM costs are all below 20, and it's got the standard 1000 condition. Now, it's only got 16 condition left and I really need a new one. I was going to simply buy another DH17 from Plumpmonkey on Rori, since quite frankly, he seems to have perfected crafting DH17s, which I know are low on the Pistol tree branch. The wound chance I can't recall off the top of my head since I am at work. I only read about Police and Guapo on these boards, but have no idea where their shops are. If you could be so kind as to provide me with coords,I would be grateful.

The thing I notice is though, the numbers on most of the higher end pistols up the Pistol tree aren't clear in justifying the cost in my experience. Now you're telling my there are pistols out there with fantastic numbers, for the same price as I have been paying for what now seem like low quality pistols.

This frustrates me slightly. If I never came to these boards, I would never have thought I was being misled in such a way. Mislead is probably not the right word, since I only go to the vendors I know exist.

Thanks for the help. If you could provide those coords, I would be grateful.

Seekalaei, check you private messages. I sent you some information about weaponsmiths I know.

I have noticed in the last day or so that the pistols aren't quite as good nowas they were last week. They're close, but I think the various resource stats took a slight down turn. However, there are still some very good weapons out there if you know who to look for in a smith. I think only Origins and Police made any DX2s, and sold out very quickly. I believe we're again missing some key resource/resources for DX2s, that those two smiths had stockpiled but now used up.

DX2's are bugged currently. They require multiple components for something and the bug is regarding that. The result is that the DX2 comes out less powerful than it should be. That being said I pick up my DX2 on Ahazi for 35k and they are roughly 96-150 2.7 speed base. Somewhere in there. I can find better, but I deal with one weaponsmith as much as possible (she custom makes my guns for me.)

It all depends on the server that you play on.

I play on Shadowfire and it doesn't have the necessary resources to even make a DX2.

Meanwhile, depending on your weapon smith and if you can find a good slicer. It also depends what you want, do you like the damage or do you want speed?

For damage, you may want to take a FWG5 and for speed, obviously the scout blaster.

I use a Scout Blaster, I believe its originaly specs were about 56-117 with 1.8s. I like the speed and still pretty good damage there hmm?

Yes, but energy is one of the most resisted damage types in the game while Acid is one of the least (stun is the least.) This means the creature applies its armor (if any) and then its resistance bonus to your scout. Meanwhile, even if resisted, most mobs only have light armor and the DX2 is AP1. So the base DPS may be better against a creature that has no resistance to Energy or Acid, you don't find too many creatures that don't resist energy at the higher levels.

Meanwhile my new favorite gun, the Tangle pistol, is ignoring medium armor on Arachne's on Endor, doing more damage than my other three guns could (DX2, FWG5 and SR Combat) even though it has the lowest speed and base dmg. The reason I use the SR Combat is that it is energy, but its also AP1 meaning it does 50% more damage to AR 1 energy resisting creatures than the Scout.

There is supposed to be a 25% damage bonus to AR0 creatures by AP1 guns (and if a medium armor creature doesn't resist acid then it is considered AR0) but I have seen no evidence that this is working.

On Corbantis we have awesome DX2's! Mine currently is 96-153 speed 1.6 (sliced, was 2.3). That is enough to compete with most scouts and FWG's at any level and this is an ar1 weapon with acid damage! I believe these are one of the more advanced weapons to make, and so it takes good resources and lots of experimentation. I assume all servers will get guns like these.
