Thread: Armor?
Depending on what server you're on, you should check your boards to see what sort of permenant shops are set up. *grins* They tend to offer a whole new quality of product...
I'm not too bright on armor, but I started out with Mabari Armorweave because it had much "Kinetic" protection, which I believe is what most creatures deal out, and I was working on my Scout skills at the time so that seemed like a smart idea. I hear Bone protects better against Blaster-like weapons. Right now, I'm working my way up to a full set of Chitin because that stuff is just great universally.
A whole set is the only way to go, dear.

Hi im quite new to the game, starteed a zabrak marksmen, at the 3rd box on pistol line right now.
i was wondering what kind of armor i should be looking for, i've been looking at the city bazaar, and most of which are bone armor or matiri (forgot spelling) armor. should i start with those?
looking at the stats on these armor, the armor rating is all 1(meaning they are all good quality? or bad quality?)... and they give other bonuses to electric defense and energy defense etc... but i dont know what kidn of damage monsters do to me, so i dunno which is important.....
also should i get a whole set of bone? whole set of matiri? or mix and match? or is the stat lost on a whole set too much to go with a whole set?
please give some advice
thanks all in advance
I'm an armorsmith, so hopefully I can clear this up.
First off, the armor rating. Currently, all player crafted armor seems to be AR 1. Experimentation seems buggy, and no one is quite sure how to make higher AR armors yet. Higher AR is better, and they range from 1-3.
Bone has resists against 'energy' which includes blast fire.
Mabari has resists against 'kinetic' which is melee (most monsters and brawlers)
Chitin has resists to both, but somewhat lower than either of the above.
Words of advice - watch the stats. Many people are loading the bazaar with really poor quality bone and mabari as they grind away to level up. And similarly, many people are making Ubese and Tantel without the skill and materials necessary to lower it's HAM costs enough to make it worthwhile. Don't buy armor based solely on the name, look at the stats of a few sets and you'll get an idea what is good or bad for a particular armor type.

Are you guys wearing any armor?
I took off my bone chest and put on a jacket. Not only do I look cooler, but my action points go farther. I group mostly, so dont' really take any hits.
What are you guys doing?
unless i misread the armor specs, bone has *no* protection against blasters
will have to check that again when i get home...
I, too, go without wearing armor. From experimentation I've found that generally you'll do better without armor on than with it. I do want to try a level 3 personal forcefield though.

that hotkey to setup - is it a one-key press type thing?
i've setup my armor individually on one toolbar set, but it's a function key press for each piece - if you have a press-one-key 'armor on' and press-one-key 'armor off' setup, I'd sure love to know how to do that... ![]()
ok, thanks
however, if 'energy' is blasters and such, what is the 'blast' rating on some armors?
I want to know too, how exactly is that you can hotkey armor swaps.
