I emailed the president of SOE, thinking I wouldn't get a response, and he did email me back (which surprised me). But for the most part he gave what I feel is a corporate answer that you give when you want to tell your customer this how it's going to be, trust us it's the best for you. What do you think email below:

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Mr. Smedley,

I am obviously wondering if I will get a response or clear answer to this email, but I don't know what else to do. I took the "leap of faith" in 2003 and I purchased this game, I played it for a long time without Jedi being in the game, and enjoyed it; Why do you ask? Because the game was unique, and the #1 reason I purchased the game is because I heard player bounties would be introduced, so logging into the game there were no Player Bounties, but was promised they were coming. Jedi gets introduced and Player bounties shortly there after, and now the 1-year I had been playing this game was going to pay off, I could finally do something no one else in any other MMO could do. I quit for a little while because Holocrons were not a well thought out idea, and it ruined the game, so I came back post CU-1, and everything changed, but I didn't whine like others I still had my player bounties. I adjusted to the new system, and now you take my player bounties away, why? Can you please just tell me why, it would have been SIMPLE enough to put an Opt-In system into the game that allowed players who wanted to participate in being hunted the opportunity to do so, but it seems you have taken the lazy way and removed it completely. So role playing a BH is useless now, killing NPC BH Marks is boring and repetitive, BH's in PVP is kind of hard to roleplay because BH's are loners by trade, unless they put in a BH Mark system through the GCW, maybe a mission to take out a high ranking officer of another faction.

I know what this is all about, it's turning the game into a commodity that can be digested easily by the masses, and that's fine from a business standpoint. I know the PS2 launch is coming up and you want SWG to be easier for console gamers, I don't have a problem with the game being "dumbed" down basically, even though I don't agree with it. But, the player bounties could have been tweaked instead of being removed, a lot of people enjoyed being hunted, and all of us BH's enjoyed doing the hunting, now the game is going to be boring. The content in the game is one-time and done content, and to be honest killing NPC's get boring, even if I get to "click away" on them to kill them. The thrill of the hunt, and finding another player while coming up with clever ways to complete your contract are compelling, because players are unpredictable, NPC's just stand in one spot and wait for you to unload on them. So largely the game will be boring outside of the GCW, once you have done one dungeon you have done them all, I am not a loot person, and don't care much for Kubaza Beelte Heads and the such. I have 2 accounts and my crafter is now in limbo, I may have to cancel my crafter account because the hybrid options are gone, this game has turned into KOTOR Onlie with some PVP mixed in now.

I hope you are serious about listening to the player base because you obviously only chose the people who said what you wanted to hear when you tested this new revamp, finding a solution to a game issue isn't that hard if you want to put the effort in, just flat out removing something is the lazy way out. SWG is now just like every other game, and the only thing keeping me here are the people I met in game, as they start to trickle away so will I, I know it's only $30 a month to you, but to me I am paying for a product that I am now unable to enjoy because of constant changes.

Thanks,

I realize this is a big change but I assure you there is nothing lazy about this. We did a heck of a lot of research before we made these changes. All I would ask is that you give it a try and withold judgement until you see how it actually plays. I think you will be very pleased. At the end of the day we get our paychecks from you our players. I assure you we aren't trying to make people quit. We are trying to make this game better and more fun. I hope you will see we are heading in the right direction. I think we are.

Best regards

John

I will give the game a try, my years invested alone will keep me around to see how it turns out, but ultimately they want to weather the storm and limit the amount of cancellations, and hope the player base accepts the changes. At least he emailed me back this is the most communication I ahve received from a live person at SOE since I started playing, so there is something going on not sure what yet.

Wrong on both counts.

Player bounties are a thing of the past... and no, in the movies, it was Darth Vader and the clone troopers who hunted down the Jedi.

Guess you are quite ignorant... about a great many things.

Unconsentual PvP is the bane of MMORPG existance, I applaud SOE for getting rid of this game killing anomaly, and making PvP consentual ONLY as it was meant to be. Go, go, go... I am very glad that they have made this move for the best of the game.

Your name is so fitting.

You know how you know player bounties have been removed? When you have nothing to do.

You lost, griefer. Give it up.

--- Cancelled 24th November 2006
Reason: The lack of multiplayer pve content and Star Wars feel.
For 3 years I have tried to find excuses to stay in game but only the expansions offered me what I subscribed for in the first place: A multiplayer Star Wars pve experience with friends around the globe. I found friends but with almost no addition of pve content they dropped out one by one. Now it's my turn.

I don't see how you won. You grinded and complained during that whole time and apparently someone gave you grief and now all you get is to be a Jedi with everyone else. I at least had a good time hunting Jedi while it lasted, it was fun, some jedi did find it fun too. If you weren't such a child you could've enjoyed it as well but it's apparent in your posts that you had a bad time.

I hope the new game is playable but I'm not going to spend my time sobbing about it even if it's not.. We still have this game for a few more days so I'll keep playing and arrange to keep in touch with the friends I've made. But while you stay hidden and scared of BHs for those next days I'm going to go out and have fun, in fact Im going to hit up some more Jedi tonight.
