ok i have wanted to be a BH since i ever heard that this game was in production. i have done nothing but work towards that goal since it launched...

i check the BH profession threads and all i see is a TON of complaining. i know that the complaining tends to be noticed more because its just that a complaint. rarely do people go out of their way to gush about how great things are going.

well now im about 24k in to my 40k requirement to train in novice BH. i all ready qualify to train in level one pistol and level one carbine and im a LONG way away from being able to train in Novice bounty hunter.

my question to the general BH public is - Are things really that bad? Am i wasting my time here?

as you all know that once we master BH we are left with 33 points to do alternate activities with. thats a HUGE price to pay especially when put together with the 40k combat exp requirement.

is BH messed up to the point that once i train in novcie BH that wont be able to do anything?

if i could get a general idea from yall i would really appreciate it.

Thanks!

I would suggest to wait two things before thinking of going BH:

1. Wait for the dev's post-patch update to see if they will make changes. If not, forget it.

2. Wait until the changes take really place. If not, forget it.

BH isnt unplayable, and its far from Broken, hehe.. its jsut people are upset because KD is gone so they cant solo their marks with unfathomable ease.. hehe

BH is Worth it IMHO.. than again im a Commando.. dont know if you can really take that from a guy who sticks to a class who has no future.. but i think Definately BH is totally worth it..

Some will tell you differnt.. but than agian it matters what you want.. if you want Fun.. than whatever pleases you is what you'll want.. and if you want 1337 dewd-ness.. or whatever.. this isnt the class for you

My opinion is that BH is in fact worth it. Why you ask? Because I happen to like the fact that every other combat profession is in such envy of us. They work up one Marksman tree, and suddenly they should be equal to a Master Marksman/Master Scout. They want exactly what we have without going the extra mile to get it. The bottom line is that if you take away what wep the xp is being gained with, BHs earn more weapon xp total than any other elite profession, and tag on Investigation to it.

That said, you have wanted to be a BH from the beginning. That would be all I needed personally. I don't waiver to the crowds moving to this combination or that professions because it is the most uberest doodzor around. You don't seem to have that mentality either, so I would say BH is just right for you.

Yes it is a grind, yes people hate you and call for nerfs on you, but if you become Master, you have accomplished something that is few will ever have the diligence or dedication to finish all the way through.

i am very much not a l00t d00de.

im a father with 2 kids 1 is just over a month old and the other is just over a year old, and of course my wife wants some time with me too .

so im very much a casual gamer. i want nothing more than to be a BH not because i want to be all powerful, but i think hunting down a mark and either killing or capturing him would be fun, and also i just assumed it would be a soloing class because of the type of 'work' a BH does.

but i also dont wanna spend the points on a class that is stuck with out anything to do until/if they get fixed.

its too large a price to pay to not be able to enjoy it once i have it, if that makes sense.

Bh is still powerful and a fun class to play. Our marks are not easy anymore with them adding the kd cost raise but its still not that bad since you can get around it using a CDEF or a snubnose DH17. We still have the pistol line which is a great set and the scatter pistol just rocks. Hopefully after the LLC changes it will come into its own, even with it nerfed and busted as it is right now those special moves it puts out are quite powerful and not much is resistant to electricity. I think we are going to be seeing alot more LLC BH's once they fix it up to work properly. Novice BH and carbine 1+ pistol 1 isn't really all that strong, but once you start climbing those weapon trees you will have a massive damage output available to you and the ability to dizzy, stun, blind, bleed, and engulf your target in flames.

Furthermore, when it comes time to rework professions, the BH has the most potential by far to be an interesting and exciting class to play. Think about it, Bounty Hunter has so many more possibilities to it, and eventually, we will be taken care of. I for one, want to say that I was here all along, when the droves of BH wanna-be's come along.

No, its not as bad as people make it seem.If something that makessomeone's gaming easier gets taken away, they will complain about it.

Personally the knockdown nerf is so blown out of proportion its not even funny. If people are going out and dying to marks as much as they say they are, then they have no clue what they're doing. I still use knockdown and don't need to spam it for myself to be effective. I barely notice a difference in my stat pools because I drink and eat to buff up anyway. (also don't wear armor)

However, bounty hunter isn't necessarily worth the time it takes to master two trees and Investigation. The title doesn't mean anything because you'll see a bounty hunter around every corner, so don't do it for that. If the skill point requirements were more in-line with other professions, yeah it'd be worth it.. but to spend that many points on this profession to have no real edge, or hook to make you want to play the profession... I would say no, its not worth it.

I will stick with it for a little while to see if they give us any new skills or something, but I have no problem furthering my ranger skills, dropping BH and training in something else.

The problem is they made most of the skills in the Bounty Hunterskill groupabout weapon use and the actual killing and didn't put enough effort into the actual 'Hunting' part of the activity. There already were about 5 different skill groups where a potential Bounty Hunter could learn how to kill something.

They blew it by putting combat skills into a skill group that should have been about finding someone who is on the lam. We could have got our killing skills elsewhere and nobody could have bitched about how 'uber' we were when we were able to find them hiding in a tree on Dantooine.

Didnt have time to read whole thread but...

BH is actually not bad.

Just do not go for Master BH.

Why? Lets see... LLC broken (no metal in game, gun sucks anyway why bother) and Investigation is completely pointless. The only skills u get is to help with BH missions which are broken, boring, expensive (u lose $$$), and stupid.

Only reason to train those 2 trees I guess is for Master BH. No idea if the special attacks at that level are worth it or not. But for attack speed and accuracy, build pistol/carbine if u like both, skip LLC and Inv, and use those skill points on pistoleer/carbineer whichever u like more for more speed and accuracy.

"but i also dont wanna spend the points on a class that is stuck with out anything to do until/if they get fixed"

The profession is far from stuck. The missions are very doable, and there are no game breaking bugs that would stop you from advancing. You will NOT lose money over time, you make take a hit here or there, you'll just notice those more than the 10 other missions where you made money.

If you are a more casual gamer expect to spend a lot of time though if you want to reach Master. You need to do a lot of missions, if you can get the highest paying to start you can expect to do close to 150 at novice at about 15-20 min a piece. Then 60 more from invest 2-3 at about an hour a piece, then another 140 or so at about 45 min a piece to finish out invest 4.

Thats around 200 hours of pure play time doing nothing but BH missions. Thats on top of raisin any weapons, other skills, questing and exploring.
